Q: QuestionFor the Apple Watch four do you have to have cellular service with a GPS and cellular watch if you choose not to have the cellular service hooked up will the watch still work
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer If you purchase the GPS + Cellular, you have the option of not activating the cellular feature. If you activate it and then 5 months later, decide you no longer want the cell feature, you can deactivate. Yes the watch will work with GPS only (it’ll still be synced with your iPhone, it just means that your iPhone will need to be within a certain distance from your watch or else you won’t be able to receive calls - think of the watch as an extension of your iPhone). But with the GPS + Cellular, you do not have to have your iPhone nearby in order to access data or receive calls, you can receive texts, calls, emails, etc. without your phone. I had the series 3 GPS only, and just purchased the series 4 GPS + Cellular and I love it!

Q: QuestionIs the cellular you purchase add'l to an existing cell plan and why? Also, how is the GPS different from using maps on your phone. My map directions always show on my Apple watch 2 series.
Asked by kelly.
- A:Answer Yes it is $10/month added to your cell provider’s plan because it is considered another device (like a tablet with Wi-Fi) that is independent of your phone, sort of. If you purchase the GPS + CELLULAR, it is initially synced up to your iPhone, and a new phone number(*) is assigned to it, and then once you activate the data plan (easy to do too, I did it via watch and iPhone while I was syncing it), you can leave your iPhone at home and just have your watch (let’s say if you are going to the market, hiking, jogging, swimming, or some type of activity). Also, the new phone number(*) is not one that you will use, it is merely assigned so that your iPhone can send info/signals to your watch (for the Cellular version), so your iPhone number remains still the one you will use. I found this out today when I checked my Verizon account, I had a new number assigned on my Apple Watch. And you can deactivate the data plan anytime if you feel you no longer need it and then your watch would just function like the regular GPS only version.

Q: QuestionSo do I have to have my iPhone near by to be able to use the cellular on this phone?

- A:Answer If you buy the GPS version, then you have to have your cell phone nearby, yes. If you buy the GPS + Cellular version, then you don't need your phone nearby but you do need to add a $10 line to your cell phone bill so that your watch can have connectivity (without wifi or cell nearby).

Q: Questionis it waterproof and unbreakable
Asked by senior.
- A:Answer It is water resistant up to 50 meters so swimming, snorkeling, surfing, bathing will not harm it, although I recommend rinsing it will clean water after going in the ocean with it, salt water does eat away as at the water resistance over time in the speak ports.

Q: QuestionHad 42mm size will 40 work?
Asked by Eddie.
This question was asked about the related product: Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS + Cellular) 40mm Silver Aluminum Case with Seashell Sport Loop - Silver Aluminum (AT&T)
- A:Answer My guess is that if you were able to see the screen on the 42mm you’d be fine. I swapped out my wife’s 38 with the 40 and it size wise is about the same. It is smaller than the 42 that I have but the display size is almost the same so you’ll probably be fine.

Q: QuestionCan I use watch bands that I presently have for my Apple Watch 3on series4?
Asked by BevL.
This question was asked about the related product: Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS + Cellular) 40mm Silver Aluminum Case with Seashell Sport Loop - Silver Aluminum (Verizon)
- A:Answer Yes you can, as long as they are the similar sizes (i.e. 38mm bands will fit the Series 4 40mm, and the 42mm bands will fit the Series 4 44mm). The sizes not the Series 4 changed slightly due to a thinner model, but the screen width/height is the same, however it is now using 30% more of the bezel. The 2-piece Straps such as leather or silicone bands will fit but the one-piece mesh bands that have metal casings attached won’t fit.
