Appleseed [DVD] [1988]

This prime example of Japanse anime is, as might be expected, set in the future. The experimental metropolis of Olympus is plagued by an elusive terrorist organization. Two members of a crack SWAT team are dispatched to find and neutralize the villains. Generally, the plotline is the hardest thing to fathom in a Japanese cartoon feature: Appleseed avoids this pitfall with solid story values. Another plus: the near-flawless English-language dubbing.
