Arlo Home Security System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been purchasing Arlo products for the last 2 years. Out of all the wireless home security systems currently available, Arlo takes the cake. Here’s why: - Their cameras, housings, batteries, and mounts specifically with the Pro 3, Pro 4, Pro 5S, Ultra, and Ultra 2 cameras are interchangeable. - The magnetic charging cable included with these cameras work seamlessly and do not wear out like typical chargers that plug in which eventually become wore out. - Customer service is available immediately through the Arlo app if you have an issue with installation or connection problems. The majority of the issues is because of your internet connection, so check that first. - If you purchase brand new cameras and one of them is faulty in the kits, contacting Arlo to get replacements is easy, all they ask is that you cover the shipping to them before they send you a new replacement unit. - Compared to ALL other wireless cameras on the market, the video & audio quality is top tier, especially with the Ultra 2 4K cameras which have a 180 degree field of view that eliminates the fish eye effect. The Arlo Pro 3, Pro 4, and Pro 5S have a 160 degree field of view, and these are adjustable through the Arlo app. Some improvements I’d suggest Arlo take note of: - I’d like to see the Arlo Ultra 2 with similar improvements like the the Pro 5S cameras, which include dual-band WiFi, better battery life, and the ability to connect to internet without a Smarthub. Currently the Arlo Ultra 2 cameras need to be connected to a Smarthub to work. But this also has an added benefit because the Smarthub allows you to store footage locally without an Arlo Subscription plan. Everybody likes free stuff. On the last note, anytime I’ve been asked which wireless system to go with, I always suggest Arlo. So if anyone complains that they do not like their products for whichever reason, or they are not working properly, or the batteries don’t last long, it’s because they’re not aware that many of these issues are user error. Battery life and features are all adjustable through the app. These cameras have so much technology packed into one tiny unit that when used properly, crushes the competition easily. When you’re using these cameras at their fullest capacity, the value you get is well worth the price.

Arlo Camera review
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this ARLO Pro 4 camera! Great picture quality. Audio is remarkable. Nice features like a spotlight. So portable and easy to move and charge up. I signed up for the single camera plan (very inexpensive) and now wish I had invested in this system for the whole house. Thinking about getting another one. Easy set up BTW, probably the easiest device I've set up.

Great Quality, Easy Installation
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These cameras are great! The setup and install were super easy. Since the cameras are wireless, you simply install a baseplate with 3 screws and the cameras lock in. The app sends you notifications when it detects an animal, vehicle, person, motion and many other customizable options. The picure and sound quality are amazing. I can hear a bugs wings flapping when near the camera. I almost bought a doorbell camera but these do so much more and with the sale I got, it was comparable in price. The angle it shows of my front door is much better than if I went with a doorbell. I've wanted secuity cameras for years but I was intimidated with the installtion process. I would highly reccomend these to anyone looking for a little extra peace of mind at home.

Easily hacked — Not at all Secure!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The video quality of the Arlo Pro 4 cameras is very good. However, without paying extra for an Arlo Smart Hub, there is no way to record 24/7 video footage, only event based recording. Also, like anything on a WiFi network, these cameras can be hacked into. Within a few days of getting my Arlo cameras set up, and paying for a pricey Arlo Cloud subscription, my cameras were hacked into and the perpetrators were able to edit the footage in close to real-time using technology similar to green screen photography footage. They were able to remove certain people from my video footage and break into my home undetected! I contacted Arlo’s customer support on seven occasions, but they weren’t any help. They were unable to get the unedited footage or help me figure out who was behind this crime! They never even refunded me the several hundred dollars I paid for their monthly cloud surveillance subscription. Waste of time, money, and a huge disappointment!

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent several weeks researching smart security cameras before finally purchasing alto security cameras, I wanted to go with something cheaper like ring but after reading dozens of reviews and talking to friends and family I decided to go with the more expensive choice, alto cameras are great, they are the only wireless cameras I could find, the video quality is great and they are simple to install. I believe in most cases you get what u pay for and this is one of those things you are better off spending more and not taking the chance on a cheaper product.

Great Cameras and excellent video quality.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Arlo cameras are easy to set up and are definitely worth the price. The trial subscription is also nice and very convenient too, but you don’t have to continue with it if you choose not to. You will however need to purchase a smart hub. Even then they are always are trying to persuade you to go back to the paid subscription. Battery life is decent with or without the subscription. Cameras also need to be connected to either a solar charger or direct power if you cancel out the subscription, in order to use the activity zones feature to filter out or in certain areas of the cameras view. I’ve attached a few snap shots of what the cameras helped me capture, I would have never known about without them,

Worth the money!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo Pro 4 is definitely the type of camera you can set up and trust to do its job. It has color night vision and an integrated spotlight that guarantees your high-definition videos. It is easy to install and works perfectly once connected to wifi. It is wireless and has long battery life. The best feauture is to arm your home so you can get alerts for any motion detection including cars passing or package delivery. It also offer two way interaction. CONS: You have to pay monthly subscription to keep keep all features. $12.99 for ALL CAMERAS.

Money well spent
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m a first time home buyer. I thought someone tried breaking into my house in the middle of the night and I was all alone. That same morning I went to Best Buy and purchased this camera. The three cameras didn’t take long to install and I did it on my own. The quality is great. The picture attached is about 9:30pm. You can do many things including zoom in, make the video brighter, 2-way talk from wherever. If you park in your garage like I do, nobody will ever be able to tell if you’re home or across the country!

Q: QuestionDoes arlo still offer free 7 day cloud storage or is all storage a paid subscription?
Asked by JeffL.
- A:Answer This is why I won’t buy a newer Arlo. Pay this much for a camera and can no longer record without paying a subscription. I’m glad I bought the older version. Also the not being able to remove the battery to charge is a bad design. I used to recommend Arlo but no longer will sue to these two issues they brought upon themselves

Q: QuestionIs the spotlight an actual bright light beam that could shine into someone's window and disturb them? Would a person you are filming know they are being filmed because the spotlight is on them?
Asked by Marty.
This question was asked about the related product: Arlo - Pro 4 Spotlight Camera, 2 Pack - VMC4250B - Black
- A:Answer Integrated Spotlight is enough to light up the area where the camera detects the motion to give colored video quality at night. You can choose to turn it off and let the camera use its night vision for more subtle video recording. ^RM

Q: QuestionIs the battery removable like the Arlo Pro2 or does the whole unit need to be charged?
Asked by jeymac.
This question was asked about the related product: Arlo - Pro 4 Spotlight Camera, 1 Pack - VMC4050P - White
- A:Answer Bizarre design. Very easy to pop the battery out, but the charging cable connects to the camera HOUSING, NOT to the battery! So you can't charge the battery outside of the camera. To do that you must buy their very expensive external 2-battery charger for $50. And you'll want to buy at least one spare battery so you only need to get up on the ladder once, to remove the depleted battery and swap in the charged one. OR, you can buy their solar panel and mount and connect that permanently. No trips up the ladder. But it's expensive - around $80. On the plus side, that has worked very well for me, keeping the battery charged to 100% nearly all the time, and with the panel mounted in a place that only gets sun for about 3 hours per day (in Phoenix). The accessories seem to never be on sale. They've got you over a barrel. There are 3rd-party substitutes -- just be careful about the quality. I've seen very mixed reviews.

Q: Questioncan I use a wire charger on the camera Arlo pro 4, so I don't have to charge it every month? like wire camera?
Asked by Chelo.
This question was asked about the related product: Arlo - Pro 4 Spotlight Camera, 1 Pack - VMC4050P - White
- A:Answer Yes. Bestbuy sells one that is 25ft long for 48-50 bucks or There are solar panels chargers you can purchase separately (3pack for 60ish bucks on Amazon). I’ve had mine up in a busy spot for a month or so I get about 250 motions alerts a day on it and I’m at 88ish percent on battery so you should get more than a month or two out of a charge.

Q: QuestionDoes the Arlo 4 have any local/device video storage capability at all, or is an historical video (i.e. the last 72 hours) available only with a subscription?
Asked by Anonymous.
This question was asked about the related product: Arlo - Pro 4 Spotlight Camera, 1 Pack - VMC4050P - White
- A:Answer Local onboard or local HD storage is not an option. A subscription for 1 camera provides 30 days of clip storage at 2K resolution at a modest less than $3 per month cost. Subscriptions for multiple cameras are discounted.

Q: QuestionWhat is the surveillance distance? Thank you.
Asked by PleaseHelp.
This question was asked about the related product: Arlo - Pro 4 Spotlight Camera, 1 Pack - VMC4050B - Black
- A:Answer You probably have a very clear picture within the first 20 feet. At night, that may only be around 15 Feet while using some other light source. Yes, you can see 40-60 feet away, but will only know it's a person, a dog, etc. Unless you know the individual real well, you would not be able to identify who that person is. I don't believe any of the competitors and their cameras are really that good. Just look at the price and the quality of the camera lens. For good night vision, you need a floodlight. The Arlo wired Video Doorbell works excellent by leaving your outdoor lights on all night. You'll get a very good view of someone coming up to your door. But the 160 - 180 degree view is very misleading. It doesn't show any of the sides of your house next to the door. The further out you go, however, the wider the view. The spotlight on the Arlo Pro 4 is very weak. I don't believe it to be sufficient when mounted outdoors.

Q: QuestionIs there a web interface to watch live and recorded video on the web instead of using your phone? (Especially live)
Asked by PaulQ.
This question was asked about the related product: Arlo - Pro 4 Spotlight Camera, 1 Pack - VMC4050P - White
- A:Answer Looks like you can. It's through the arlo.com website. The first time logging in, it sends a push notification to your phone to authenticate you. Once you're logged in, the interface looks very similar to that on your phone. This includes the ability to watch recordings, as well to watch live. As a reminder, there is a lag with all live recordings. I think it's something like 10 seconds.
