Works fine, but runs very HOT. Use Fan to cool
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Comcast, Internet, Set upCons mentioned:HeatSo I upgraded my comcast internet speed to a much faster data plan which requires a new updated Docsis 3.1 version. I had a coupon and few bestbuy dollar reward and i figure, why not just get it from Best Buy. So the install was simple. Only Port 1 works, (i found out later). Port 2 will only work if you pay Comcast another dedicated IP address, which in my case I dont need. I had to call Comcast as the automatic sense and install didnt work for me. I gave the comcast agent the MAC ID of the new device, and VOILA! I had fast download and upload. The Unit runs very HOT, . To remedy this, I purchased the AC Infinity silent Fan from amazon. I sandwiched the unit as - fresh air intake fan, then the modem, then air exhaust fan. This will prolong the life of the unit as we all know, the component inside a Hot unit will degrade overtime from heat. Its been up and running for over a month now and have really no complaints. Highly recommended.

Arris sb8200
|Posted .I have comcast internet and I was supposed to have 250 mb download speed but my Motorola sb 6121 was only letting me reach 140 mb download speed . I installed the Arris SB 8200 and my first internet speed test reached 301 mb download . Don't quite understand how a modem can do this , I thought it was the router that helped your internet speed , guess I was wrong .

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Cable guy came, made a call, and set it up within 30 minutes. After he left it stopped working for 10 minutes then started working again. Have not had any issues since. I use Speedtest every once in a while at random times to just view speeds at different hours in a day and I almost always get exactly what I pay for even through WiFi. I would definitely recommend to a friend and save the $10 a month on the cable bill.

Q: Questionwhat wireless router will work with my new Arris Surfboard 8200 cable modem (Comcast cable)? Need to buy a router so wifi works
Asked by Rex.
- A:Answer Any wireless router with an Ethernet WAN port should work (that’s all of them). To get the most out of this modem, look for a router with a gigabit WAN port (that’s most of them these days). Without knowing more about how many devices and what types of devices you will be connecting, it is hard to give you great advice, but generally speaking you should look for an 802.11AC router. AC routers will be compatible with the most devices and offer speeds that are more than sufficient for most users. There are newer AD and AX routers available, but AC is still a better option for most users. I would personally suggest routers from Netgear or ASUS, but that is mostly personal preference. I have also heard good things about some of the routers from TP-Link and Linksys as well.

Q: QuestionDoes this modem support Xfinity voice?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, it does not. Very few modems offer Voice support, and the few I've seen that do tend to be very expensive. If you have to have VOIP as part of your package, you may be stuck with renting equipment from the ISP, which is always an expensive proposition over time. I get VOIP service from NetTalk, which provides a small accessory that you just plug into an Ethernet port on the router or a switch. That way I'm free to select the modem of my choice.

Q: QuestionWhen will this product be available in stores? I'd like to recycle my old modem and use the 15% discount to buy the new modem but this can only be done in store, not with online purchase.
Asked by Nighthawk.
- A:Answer I ordered the modem for in store pick up and used the coupon when the associate in the store placed the order for me. Go to the geek squad desk in the middle of the store and they will take care of it for you.

Q: QuestionI currently have two networks at my home (Home Security and Home Media) as I do not want traffic on one disrupting the other network. I see this product has two ethernet connections ...can I connect two routers ...and then both have internet access?
Asked by InternetJoe.
- A:Answer Comcast disables the second port with there file they send to this. You would have to pay extra for basically "another modem" fee to comcast for the second port, it will get assigned a different external ip address. You could buy a switch and hook it to the main port, then hook your two separate routers into the switch. That should do what your looking for, but you will still only have one external ip.

Q: QuestionWill this work with Spectrum AND a Linksys EA7500 router? I assume if it works with Spectrum, it will work with about all routers. Am I correct?
Asked by Bill.
- A:Answer Spectrum customers (only): Activation of new SB8200 devices is temporarily not supported on the Spectrum network. You can instead opt for SB6190 or SB6183 that would provide support for speed tiers of upto 400 Mbps with Spectrum’s service
