We replaced our modem with an Arris last year and have had great performance from it, so I was perfectly content with purchasing the Arris Surfboard AC1200 when it became clear our Belkin router had outlived it's usefulness. I can say that when it worked it worked really well with good speeds. Unfortunately it would go through periods where it would randomly (and persistently) drop the network. Sometimes it would only do it occasionally, and others it would be pointless to even try using wifi. After 6 months of hoping it would resolve itself, changing channels, several hours on the phone with Arris, many resets, and disabling the band steering option we finally decided to return the router. I have no idea why it does this, my guess is that it's a software issue that hasn't been resolved. I was greatly disappointed that we didn't have better service. We'll see how this Netgear Nighthawk works (so far so good) that we replaced it with. I had higher hopes for a Motorola brand. For anybody that assumes it was just interference we do not live in an apartment or townhouse. We live in a single family dwelling on an acre of land, so interference really should not have been a problem (though we changed channels anyway).
