A nice and simple design for this ASUS Laptop; It's a great option as a child's school basic laptop for homework; Comfortable keyboard; Very fast overall performance; Above-average battery life; Fast boot and transfer times. And the price was awesome.

Purchased in November 2015, one month ago. This has been an excellent buy for my intended use. I saw it on 'Flash Sale', one day only, for $192.00 including tax. I would have given it 5 stars but for one odd feature of it's touchpad. The pad is so ultra sensitive that it will jump around with the slightest touch while typing. My workaround is to use the function key with F9 to disable the keypad while typing. Repeat the same function after typing is finished to enable touchpad. Not a big deal for me. I use a tiny LED flashlight that clips on the top of the monitor to light the keyboard while typing in the dark; cost me a $1.00 at Dollar Tree. This laptop came with Windows 8. I bought this laptop because I wanted to see how well a new machine would run with Linux Mint installed, so I immediately installed LM and wiped Windows. I had to find the BIOS and make 2 or 3 changes to the settings there, after which the LM installation went well. I had to force a reboot 2 or 3 times initially, but after those reboots, it runs perfectly. With LM installed, this machine runs quite fast. It has plenty of ram and HD memory for the lightweight nature of Linux, compared to Windows. For the past month, I've used this as my main laptop, enjoying using Linux MInt Cinnamon, which is the perfect Linux distro for a new Windows-to-Linux convert like me. I'm still keeping my Windows 7 on another laptop, but it sits idle while I'm enjoying this operating system on this new, inexpensive pc. This has been such a success that I'm so tempted to switch my Windows 7 laptop to Linux Mint as well. I will resist temptation awhile longer, since Windows 7 is the last decent MS operating system. When MS quits supporting Win 7, I'll be ready to convert entirely to LM Cinnamon. So, purchasing this laptop from Best Buy at $192.00, has turned out to be a great experience. And to date, all my purchasing from Best Buy has been a very good experience. I almost bought a 'Black Friday / Cyber Monday' laptop that Best Buy had put on sale for $299.99, 8GB ram with plenty of HD memory, simply because it was such a great deal. I just had no use for another machine.
