Little Slow and without Camera
|Posted .No have camera this model, I don't know why because on the Asus web page the specs said have camera. I seen days later because I never used the camera on laptop. I buyed because look a gaming laptop and I need for graphic creator like Adobe Ilustrator, Photoshop. The Windows 10 system combine with the ASUS system app made the laptop so slowly. Example when you turn on the startup response are big time compare with the specs about processor i5 and memory ram 12 gb. If you disable like me the native Asus app the laptop respose a lot better. I buyed for $499, good price. The size of the screen are awesome and the brighter.

I like the laptop, don't like the keyboard
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI like this laptop, especially for the money. The large screen is nice, very sharp and beautiful colors. Very fast. Things I like so far: SPEED - laptop is very fast in my opinion. SCREEN - I like the large screen, and the Full HD is great. DVD/CD burner - I haven't used it yet, but like that it's here HEAT - Not much heat at all! This is great, considering it's a laptop and the last thing I want is a lot of heat coming from it. What I don't like so far: KEYBOARD I don't recommend the 10 key number pad, it is extremely narrow. I have small hands, and it is still difficult for me to operate quickly as the numbers are so narrow (letter keys are 5/8" x 5/8", 10-key numbers are 1/2" wide x 5/8"). I didn't realize I would miss a backlight keyboard so much. I find myself tilting the screen down to illuminate the keyboard if I can't find which function key I need. PALM REST - Not comfortable for me, it measures about 4.5" deep and the edge hits my wrist uncomfortably. Maybe if the edges were a bit rounded it would help. WEIGHT - It is heavier than I thought it would be. Sitting on my lap/legs is not comfortable for long periods of time. If you're going to set it on a counter or table, no problem. I haven't loaded too many programs yet, trying to decide if I want to keep or exchange first. I don't want to discourage anyone, this is a very nice laptop. I use the 10-key a lot, so it's a big deal to me, that's all. Giving you a heads up on the other issues, in case you are like I am.

My first ASUS
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOkay, I have been buying Toshiba Satellite laptops forever, and I NEVER thought I would change to anything else, but my last Satellite model left a lot to be desired with the graphics and keyboard and various sundry issues. When it was time to upgrade I decided to look for something with an NVIDIA card, instead of Intel, and this was one of the lower priced but well packed products that came up. The reviews seemed kind of sparse, but positive overall, so I decided to give ASUS a try. I'm very happy with my purchase, overall. The setup was very quick and easy, though before purchasing I read a review that said it took forever to update and set up, but I've had many laptops and this was really one of the quicker setups. I don't do a lot of heavy gaming, but I do tend to multitask, and always at least one of my tasks can be taxing on a graphics card, but this NVIDIA card holds up very nicely. I have been able to successfully run SecondLife while watching a YouTube video and chatting in three different messenger programs and messing around with GIMP at the same time. (No, I don't have ADHD, I just -- oh look, a flying pixel!) My only real complaint is with the built in speaker sound quality: it's not very robust and the volume tends to be very low, but that seems to be an issue with a lot of laptops. I would recommend using an external speaker or headphones. TLDR: Decent midrange laptop, probably wouldn't be the best for serious gamers but way more than enough for the average user. Also use headphones or an external speaker.

Great laptop for everyday use
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendVery pleased with new laptop. Love screen size. Lighter weight than my comparable laptop. Only thing I would have liked to added was a backlight keyboard. Like the 10 key on side of keyboard. Very pleased.

Good laptop
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendEverything about this laptop is great but the hard drive, it's a slow 5400 rpm drive. I bought a 525gb ssd and now it boots to Windows in under 6 seconds. I only tried one game, 7dtd, and it runs on max settings at 44 fps. If you want to clone the hard drive onto a ssd, you'll need a Sata to USB adapter since there's no extra drive bay.

Nice medium level gaming laptop
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendUnit has a cheap black plastic feel to it however the speed and screen when upgraded to a SSD really make it a decent gaming laptop that's hard to beat on price!

Worth the money
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendgreat laptop. i put a samsung 850 evo solid state drive in mine just to speed it up because the stock hard drive is the speed bottleneck. its faster then ill ever need and plays any game i want it to. only reason did not give 5 stars is no backlit keyboard. other then that its great and less then half price a macbook. i dual boot mine so i use mac os also. best of both worlds.
