This has been a great Chromebook!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Cons mentioned:Keyboard, KeysI love this Chromebook, even though it has an issue with not being able to see what key your hitting because of the backlit keyboard. With the keyboard back light on, and the silver color of the keys, the letters kinda disappear making it hard to see them. So I purchased a keyboard guard protector from Amazon , it makes each key a different color made of soft silicone molded perfectly to fit this Chromebook and I'm able to see each key letter, works perfect.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Design, Display, PriceCons mentioned:Keys, SpeakersThis is my first Chromebook. If you are looking for the very best one for your money, I recommend this one highly. There are a lot of reasons why. *Not only is it great looking, and really thin and therefore very portable, it's very sturdy. The feel of it is not cheap and in no way feels flimsy in any way I can think of. *The speakers are incredible. When I first played Youtube on it, the volume was nearly as high as it could go, and as a new user when I was fumbling around trying to find the volume buttons, I realized that while loud, the sound was GREAT. I've never owned a laptop that had speakers this good. An impressive surprise! *The screen is amazing. It's very bright & clear, and when you are using the touch capabilities (I came from the original Surface Pro, so for years I'm used to scrolling and touching via the screen, preferring to bypass the touchpad) the screen isn't too super-slick or too super-sticky; it feels good. I believe I remember seeing it's Gorilla Glass? The screen also almost reaches all the outer edges, giving it an amazing look. *The battery life is awesome. I charged it to 100% when I first got it home, and I think I put about 9-10 hours into it before I got to 7% last night and decided to charge. I kept the brightness settings at the default levels, which I think were about 75% of the way up. *The convertible aspect is great. I usually use it in a laptop position, but have tried tablet mode (not my favorite personally, but impressively the keys against my lap seemed to be disabled in that position) as well as where the screen faces up and the rest of the unit is behind (presentation mode; great for YouTube and streaming.) *The price was great. I originally wanted the C434, but found this one on sale and the only difference I could see was this one's listing on the site says the keyboard isn't backlit. (Actually, it is.) Because the price difference was significant, I went for this one due to the sale. Upon watching further reviews, I think the only difference between this one and the 434 is that this one has a plastic keyboard surround, not aluminum. Aluminum feels cold to me anyway so the 433 having a plastic keyboard surround is not a detraction. Here are a few of my cons: *I believe this was an open-box item and was not labeled as such. The box had a piece of tape holding it shut, the screen didn't have a clear protector on it as so many devices with screens do, the device is named Amber Lake Y Chromebook which doesn't seem like a standard (and I was never asked to name the device), and when I first opened it, it warned me that OS was rebooting and everything previously on it would be lost. I believe it was wiped and put back as if it was new, but I really suspect it wasn't finished before it was put back on the shelf. Since their open-box items are cheaper, I was displeased by this greatly. (Not to mention the item was misrepresented.) And it wasn't even the last piece in stock so it's not like the associate HAD to pick that one to give to me. *The chromebook is hard to open. Each and every person I hand it to comments on this. It's impossible to open from its sitting position on a desk or table. You pretty much have to pry it open from a vertical position. I'm sure they wanted the hinges tight for the 360 degree angles, but I still find it tough to open. Overall, totally recommended.

Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Display, SpeedIt was this, the 713 or the Go for a bit more with less power. The 713 was out of stock and the extra $100 or so isn't worth it unless you need an i5 for productivity or games instead of an i3 (not sure it helps with graphics). So far as the screen it's gorgeous, the speakers are ok, the backlit keys are fine, speed is very good. I mostly just cruise the www and watch youtube / flix / etc. Haven't really given it a challenge with a large doc or database or anything. But as an interim productity with messaging and probably calling too (if you have Google FI ... twenty bux a month! with no data, 10$ a gig max $60 month extra) with minimal productivity needs, notetaking etc, it's great. Get a usb c dongle that gives you two live usb a outlets and replaces the usb c power input with one of it's own. You can use the HP's second usb c outlet for the monitor (I'm using usb > displayport adapter cord). Then a dongle on the other side for a keyboard and a mouse and you can run a second screen above the Chromebook. YES IT IS A HOME COMPUTER TOO!

AMAZING... with real issues
|Posted .Features
Quality3 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Design, Display, PriceCons mentioned:WifiI purchased mine about a month ago just in case I needed to work from home during all that's going on (ended up being a smart call). The laptop makes an amazing first impression, slick, small bezzles with a large track pad. I got this on sale for close to $300, and at that price I got a steal. The Good: -Style, design looks... in spades -Small Bezels on screen with large track pad -Light, with AMAZING battery life -Runs quick and silent -Google Stadia runs wonderfully on this machine -Sharp 1080p display Here are the issues: -Screen color gamut is muted, which you will notice if holding other screens up next to this. Don't do editing/photoshop on this machine, as you cant judge the result accurately. -Magnet that holds machine closed works too good, have to use both hands to pry open every time. -My first unit had 3 defective keys, which drove me crazy (the L would get stuck in the down position every 3rd press, with two other keys just sticking/not registering). -Wifi is GARBAGE, has a weak wifi connection, everywhere, with limited range. -Screen brightness is... "ok" at best -Keyboard is iMPOSSIBLE to read. Whoever decided silver keys on a silver keypad needs to be fired. During the day you need to turn off the back-light to read keys, at night you have to turn the light on.. its an annoying game to play. All of this would bother me immensely on a $1,000 machine, would irritate me on a $500 machine, but for sub $300 (where I got it), this is more of a "you get what you pay for" feeling every time an issue crops up.

Good & Bad: Keyboard and Opening it up
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5I'm three days into my new ASUS Chromebook and with two exceptions, I'm loving it. Brand new user to Chromebook. I've been a Windows user for over twenty years so it is a struggle but I will get there! Spent a lot of time trying to figure out the best Chromebook for me. Certain features I had to have: 14" touchscreen (preferable 2-in-1) and backlit keyboard. The ASUS C433T filled the bill. Well built and attractive Chromebook. .......... HOWEVER, I may be returning it because of two design flaws: * It's impossible to open (well, not totally) but it is a pain and , * You can't read the keys in certiain lighting conditions. When the backlight is on, the keys blend in with the color of the board and they disappear!!! There is no contrast between the keys and the base. I read one review where they purchased a color keyboard cover and that solved the problem. I like the ASUS so much, I may try out that solution before I return it I will try to remember to post an update.

My Wife's Christmas Present
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I bought this (and a printer) for wife for christmas. She has been thrilled with it. She uses it every day. She is happy and that makes ME happy. The screen is bigger than her old one. The color is much better. It is touch screen, which she REALLY loves. She uses it to play games with her friends, to play solitaire, to read her emails, to join in facebook fun, and most importantly, to do our banking. She loves being able to do everything on this new computer, and THEN, print out our bank statements, etc. We both highly recommend it.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I got my chromebook from BestBuy @ Valley Stream from Christian. It's amazing. I came in there for an more expensive laptop and he reassured me this is the right fit for me and was less expensive. It's fast and great quality. There's so much features on it . The screen is very clear. I don't even want to watch TV . I sit and binge watch my shows right here on the laptop. Thanks Christian! :)
