Works great with the right firmware and Verizon
Posted .Features
Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Just recently upgraded to gigabit internet today (Verizon), I set up the routers using the app (its EXTREMELY easy). When I bought the router about a week ago, I maually upgraded the firmware to the latest available at the time by downloading the files on the asus website (Version: 3.0.0.4.386_40451-g30f1b6c). Everything works perfectly, as you can see from the pictures, I get close to 1000 mbps download and upload through ethernet and 500+/300+ download and upload on WIFI. When I turned on QoS, it tanks my connection and i get under 10 mbps, I would suggest not to turn it on if you use this firmware version. Theres a lot of lackluster reviews for this mesh system but it works fine for me, I would suggest finding a firmware version thats works and not updating it unless problems arise. As the great saying goes, dont fix it if it aint broke. My only grip with this product is that it uses its only ax wifi 6 band for dedicated wireless backhaul. Of course you can wire the backhaul using ethernet to free up the wifi 6 band but im not to fond of drilling holes all over my house to fish wires. It would have been great if all the wifi bands were utilizing the new ax technology.

Terrible!! Trash! Pure Garbage!

Quality1 out of 5Value1 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:SpeedCons mentioned:Buffering, PerformanceI'm returning this first thing in the morning! When connected via ethernet, my speeds are approaching 950 Mbps! My old Netgear only got me to around 500 Mbps. As I had mentioned, my speeds over wire were amazing, which prompted me to lower my guard and be happy with my purchase. Little did I know the next few hours were riddled it terrible wireless performance. Perhaps I got a lemon, but I'm not about to replace it to find out! Instead I'm going with something else! The issue was first noticed when I started to use my laptop for some Christmas shopping and both Best Buy and Amazon was struggling to load. Best Buy was worse for some reason. Decided to run a speed test and oddly, Ookla was giving me great speeds over wireless, so I was very confused as to why 90% of the sites I was going to were struggling to load. Even Steam downloads were struggling! In effort to troubleshoot I ran ping tests and saw something rather disturbing. I then decided to run many other speed tests and to my shock and dismay, they were all bad except Ookla. Now I don't even trust Ookla. But I digress. WiFi performance on both Mesh and with one AP (Main unit) were horrible. Under 10 Mbps and often hanging out at 1 or 2 Mbps. I can't believe how bad this thing is. I'm super disappointed!

Aimesh for the win!

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Had to return other Asus router (AX5400) because the 2.4ghz band was a bit wonky. I need that band because of my network printer and a budget Blu smartphone. This Aimesh package is unreal. Wow! Fast, the app is great, and I added a an AC68U as another Aimesh node without any issues. So far all deadspots alivespots now in and out of my home. Great purchase even if a bit on the pricier side.

Great system

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This is hands down the best router I have ever used! It solved the dead zone issue in my home which is the primary reason I was looking for a new router. I have a Comcast gigabit connection with 4 game systems & streaming devices going at any given time, there is no system slow down and minimal speed drop off due to signal. I have a semi connected home with 26 devices on the network at all times. I highly recommend this mesh system.

Very fast and good connection!
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I was hesitant about this AiMesh router, but after hooking it up and testing the WIFI speed....I was truly amaze. Whether it was WIFI or ethernet cable connection, the speedtest showed 100% consistent, no dips! Although I was data cap at 100Mbps, it pushed up to 120 Mbps and felt like it wanted to push even more! I also used the AiMesh Node feature (connecting 2 router wireless) and living in a 2 story home, all the devices connected to the network have FULL BARS! Just a side note, make sure to connect most devices to 5g-1 and not on 5g-2 (WIFI 6) as some devices connection don't behave well on that band, but my latest smart phone loves 5g-2 though!

So what u know turned on bridge mode on the modem gateway and hooked this unit up and what u know it’s works great. No more dead spots and the ax WiFi is great on my iPad Pro and iPhone 11s too also make sure to got to setting to activate the WiFi ax if not it will use it to back hall the data. I have a Ethernet cable to have a solid connection between the units.

Was good but then bad
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality2 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This router(s) seemed fine when I first got it. The software is good and the features for QOS and bandwidth limiting are great. However, after the last firmware update, I would lose approximately 10 Mbs per second on download over wired vs. plugged directly into the AT&T router. I only get 30 Mbs so 10 Mbs is a big loss of speed. Wasn't like that when I first got it, so I took it back not wanting to gamble on whether or not they would fix the issues. Bought another Asus with nearly the same software, also a Wifi 6 gaming router, and it has been rock solid. Glad I decided to take this back.

Q: QuestionI have a 1700sqft L shaped house. Is this unit overkill for the size of my house or just right? Right now I have a Linksys Velop 3 node system using WIFI backhaul and not getting consistent speed or service. Should I just hard wire them?
Asked by Tcoll.
- A:Answer I got this unit for a 600 square feet home since it has dead spots. Well after this unit no more and no more over loading the system with too many devices since it splits the load over to the closest mesh pod.
