Nice unit, but battery is defective
Posted .I bought the unit at 4pm yesterday and charged overnight. I turned it on and set up everything this morning. After about an hour of use, I got a message saying that I only had 5% battery left and should plug in the charger. I plugged in the charger -- the battery icon said "5% available (plugged in, charging)". After 30 minutes of charging it was down to 2%. After one hour it was down to 0%. It wouldn't run at all without the charger plugged in. Heading back to BestBuy this morning for a replacement, which I really hope will meet all my expectations.

Posted .Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for choosing an ASUS product. I'm sorry if the battery is discharging too fast. Did you check if it was fully-charged after charging it overnight before using it? Please try to update the BIOS if the version was outdated. Should you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3226899 on the subject line.

Great throw-away computer/tablet.
Posted .This was a great value at first, Windows 8.1, Office, etc.. however almost immediately I had problems with power and volume buttons on the tablet falling behind the case (I had to pry these out with a small screwdriver), the power cord being loose/wobbly, and the wire fraying. However the worst thing was when I was holing the tablet reading one day and while getting up the mere pressure of my thumb cracked the screen. Now 1/3 of the touch screen doesn't work and I have to use the tablet with the mouse pad if at all. I'm not some giant buff dude either, seemed like normal use and in no way felt like I put a lot of pressure on the screen, but of course it is not covered under warranty. Kinda disappointing because other than quality-wise it was a great purchase.
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from Asus_Answers

Great functionality for price
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOverall this is great for the money. I like that it has a USB 3.0 port as well as runs Windows so all my apps work. It's great to have the flexibility of a tablet with the functionality of a laptop. Although there is a microSD slot it would be great to have at least 64 GB of internal storage. Also, the processor isn't the fastest and 2GB of RAM isn't much. It's the norm for tablets but on the low end for laptop performance. Also, I noticed the micro USB port seems to just be for charging the battery. If I have an external DVD-ROM attached, it still seems to drain the battery even when it's plugged in. Lastly, I use a mini HDMI adapter but since that port is so close to the micro USB port it doesn't fit when the USB cable is plugged in. That means I can't run off AC power and use the HDMI at the same time. This may not be an issue with an actual mini HDMI cable or a different adapter.

Perfect For My Needs
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've been a long time Kindle fan, but it didn't suit my needs for school. I have custom desktop that I primarily use for gaming and when at home. I also have a gaming laptop, but between my books, binders, and that beast of a laptop, it quickly became too much to lug around. The battery life wasn't great either. It made it hard to pick up and go for school work. That's when I decided I needed an extremely portable tablet with a keyboard that would fit well in an already full backpack, have great battery life, and with my online classes as well. I originally planned to purchase a Google Chromebook as it would fit my needs pretty well, but after explaining them to a worker, I was shown this. This is perfect for students. It comes with a full version of Microsoft Office, which has come in handy many times. On the Chromebook I would have been limited to Google Drive. Don't get me wrong, I am still a Google fan, but when it comes to dealing with school, Office is much better suited at this time. The battery life is long enough to last the school day, but if it doesn't, the charger is very portable as well. However, the included charging cable is extremely short and limiting if you need to use the device while charging. It may sound minute, but that is one of my biggest (and only) gripes with the Transformer. If you haven't guessed already, I'm into gadgets and gaming. One of the first things I did was download some of my games from GOG and Steam onto the machine to see what I could play. Older games such as Fallout, Arcanum, and Half-Life run great. New, less graphically-intensive games such as FTL, Braid, Syder Arcade all work great too. I even got KOTOR to work fairly well on good settings. I consider this a fringe benefit, but this is not a purchase to be made for portable gaming. I attempted Steam In-Home streaming and it worked, but was clunky and choppy. Whether this is do to my poor wireless connection, or the machine, I'm not sure. Another thing potential buyers should be aware of is that this is more of a very tiny, sleek laptop than a tablet. If you are just looking for apps, Netflix, readers, ect., there are better, cheaper devices for that use. Physically the machine looks great. The detachable keyboard feels decent when typing. The trackpad isn't bad, but isn't great either. I use a wireless mouse or the touch screen as needed. The touchscreen works rather well, but occasionally I end up selecting the wrong thing. TL;DR Pros: - Lightweight - Very Portable - Comes with Full Microsoft Office - Great For Students - Good Battery Life - Can Play Some Decent Games (Just don't expect a whole lot of power there.) - Decent Storage, Can Expand with Micro SD Cons: - Charging Cord is Extremely Short (You can replace it with any micro to USB cord though.) - Only 720p (Minor gripe considering my use of the tablet, but it Netflix would look better on higher res devices.) - It's Best Used as a Tiny Laptop Rather Than a Tablet - Sound Seems too Quiet There weren't any cases specifically for this, but this one works well and can hold a mouse, SD cards and the charger easily. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-mini-laptop-sleeve/9926416.p?id=1218196187925&skuId=9926416

Works exactly as I expected it to
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAfter researching Android, Apple, and Win8 tablets I determined that this unit best suited my needs. I use Word and Excel documents daily, and the fact that the T100 comes with a version of Office13 and a keyboard in addition to a touch screen made it better for me than other tablets. It's great for work away from my desk, and for surfing and emails at the coffee shop . I bought a 128GB thumb drive and 3 x 32GB micro SD cards for less than $75. I now have more than 250GB total storage (not that I'll ever need that much). I read all the negative reviews about the case, screen resolution, keyboard and touch pad, and while they were all fair and accurate observations, at $350 including a keyboard and MS Office, it was still by far the best portable unit for my purposes. I understand that other OS offer more apps, but I reasoned that if I couldn't find what I needed out of the 10/M+ apps offered, I probably couldn't find what I wanted in 400/M+ either. If you're looking for a portable computer/tablet you should give the T100 some serious consideration.

Awesome Product/Excellent Value
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased the T100.....followed the instruction to charge for 8 hours prior to use. First time I've ever had that instruction as #1....but I am patient... I completed the 8+ hour charge. Turned the unit ON....got things setup....and I did patiently get through the numerous Windows updates, also some ASUS updates. As I made my way through these, I did notice some of the items noted in other reviews including difficulty in getting the unit to turn "ON" when pressing power button, and also the unit dropping the WIFI unexpectedly. The system did not turn to "On" consistently until I completed the ASUS firmware update(s). Also, after installing the new WIFI driver, no more drops. At this point, I have all software installed....all functions like a charm. I am a happy customer.... I appreciate the MS Office included with this unit. I have all my software installed....including Itunes, iCloud Mail, and numerous other Windows programs. The battery really does last....averaging more than 10 hours with each use.... Excellent screen, and the auto change feature for reading is excellent. I can use this as it's meant to be...portable and also use external keyboard/display while at the home base. Overall, an excellent product...very acceptable..... I do have an iPad and appreciate the device much for what it brings, especially in my normal personal use. However, I find this T100 can do everything I ask and it is my daily computer.....use it for everything. I want to add the following from a review I read...as what it includes is most important respective to successful outcome in setup. (I want to say that I think it odd that a user would have to go through so much preparation to make a product usable..... I'm sure many would not have the patience, nor desire..... But the time is well spent....) >>Recommend following steps/advice to enjoy this wonderful device: 1. Read as much of favorable and unfavorable reviews on Amazon before powering up. 2. Fully charge before powering up. 3. Do not do any windows update until you do #4 4. Go to "pc settings" and change windows update setting from auto install to "download updates but let me choose whether to install them". So much of crashing has been due to auto update installation coming off sleep mode or during booting(especially the large update right off the bat). Windows will let you know that there are updates to be installed. Now you are able to review and choose ones you want to install. More importantly, you are installing updates while the device is up and running (thereby reducing the risk of being locked out). I've had two instances of "failed to install" on updates during this manual installation but no crashing. When I retried to install on the next day, installation was successful in both cases. By the way, I have installed all updates so far. 5. Asus has new BIOS update on their website - reflash to BIOS 220 6. Turn off three finger and edge gesture on touchpad. 7. I use my Samsung galaxy note 2 charger with no problem. I think any Samsung or LG smartphone chargers would work. Its not any faster but has longer cord. 8. Call Asus customer service with any issues. Generally they are helpful. If Asus recommend sending in for repair, try returning it to the retailer for exchange or refund first. 9. Buy illumishield screen protector - your screen is no longer a fingerprint magnet. 10. Get 64GB as 32GB is not enough....or buy 64GB micro SDXC card....and put all your iTunes, data files, etc. at that location.) Hope above helps. This is a fantastic device, doubly so at this price. Update: I've had this device for nearly three weeks with no problem whatsoever. In fact, with Windows and BIOS updates, its performance has improved. For example, the touchpad works better and battery consumption during sleep mode has gone down from 5% per hour to 1%. I have kept my windows update setting to manual installation and do not intend to allow auto installation until crashing issues are completely resolved. There is nothing to lose by taking this precaution and judging by many Windows update related crashes still being reported, this is a prudent action.

Netbook replacement
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this as a replacement for an 2010 Acer Netbook. I was looking for something that had a long battery life and could run Ms office and this fits the bill perfectly. I was amazed at how far it started up and shut down in comparison to my old netbook. I was also impressed with the different apps ability to sync my info from outlook, onedrive/skydrive (or whatever they are calling it today) and even Google products. (For some reason I expected Microsoft to bad at using apps and cloud computing) as far as the dimensions go is pretty much the same size as a netbook or chromebook. It seems heavier than you might expect for the size but not unreasonably so. I use the keyboard often but even so I find myself using the touchscreen much more than I thought I would. The main reason for that is the mouse pad is pretty terrible, I mean almost useless. I end up swiping screens all the time by accident. Which brings me to windows 8. It's not as bad as you may have heard but it is a fairly steep learning curve for some raised on the traditional versions of windows. It took an entire weekend to get any kind of comfort level with it and I still have to stop and think my way through things like finding the file menu or adjusting the brightness level. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking at chromebooks or budget laptops.

Excellent value entry tablet
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis was my first purchase of a table after looking/researching for 2 months and my first true experience with Windows 8. I couldn't be more happy with my choice. Even though there are other makes/models with close to the same specs, this Asus tablet gives you the most bang for the buck. I researched other Asus tablets, along with Lenovo and Microsoft tablet too. This Asus tablet gave me everything the higher price ones had and more - you get a real Windows 8.1 operating system, not the RT stripped down version the regular Microsoft Surface gives you, you get a real touch/feedback keyboard that would cost $130 for a Microsoft compatible version. Even some of the other Asus tablets were Bluetooth only keyboard accessories, so you had two separate pieces of hardware to watch. With this Asus tablet it's a small laptop when you need it and a tablet when you want it - simply detach the keyboard and off you go. Price for price and spec for spec you can't go wrong with this unit - especially if you are like me and just getting your feet wet with tablet. The Windows 8 operating system was actually easier to get an understanding of how it operates that what I first believed it to be - I was a doubter of the system at first but now I really like how it functions and its features, especially with the new 8.1 version (upgrade through the store if you haven't already). The only negatives, and they are small negatives and definitely not a deal breaker by any means, are the touchpad is not very responsive and feels cheap, but for the price I expected something to feel cheap and if it's only that, well...... The other small issue when I first got it was it would not restart properly, kept having to hold the power button to reset/restart the tablet. Asus was aware of the problem and within the last week I saw an updated BIOS file to download and update the system. Since installing that through the Asus Live Update feature I have had no more problems - so I would recommend that you verify the BIOS file installed and update if necessary. Other than that - I can't complain for what I got. Great price, great features, great portability, just plain great and very happy with this new entry from Asus - even Microsoft was advertising it on there website for tablets and that's how I ended up with it. I would not hesitate to recommend nor have I already. I would recommend getting the 64GB model for the small amount of extra money, but if you only get the 32GB you won't be disappointed. I would also recommend, no matter which version you get to get an expansion Micro SD card and add the max 64GB of memory to hold the extra stuff that doesn't require the tablet operating system and save the actual tablet drive for programs/apps and store your general data/pictures/etc. on the SD card.
