Nice unit, but battery is defective
Posted .I bought the unit at 4pm yesterday and charged overnight. I turned it on and set up everything this morning. After about an hour of use, I got a message saying that I only had 5% battery left and should plug in the charger. I plugged in the charger -- the battery icon said "5% available (plugged in, charging)". After 30 minutes of charging it was down to 2%. After one hour it was down to 0%. It wouldn't run at all without the charger plugged in. Heading back to BestBuy this morning for a replacement, which I really hope will meet all my expectations.

Posted .Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for choosing an ASUS product. I'm sorry if the battery is discharging too fast. Did you check if it was fully-charged after charging it overnight before using it? Please try to update the BIOS if the version was outdated. Should you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3226899 on the subject line.

Great functionality for price
||Posted .Overall this is great for the money. I like that it has a USB 3.0 port as well as runs Windows so all my apps work. It's great to have the flexibility of a tablet with the functionality of a laptop. Although there is a microSD slot it would be great to have at least 64 GB of internal storage. Also, the processor isn't the fastest and 2GB of RAM isn't much. It's the norm for tablets but on the low end for laptop performance. Also, I noticed the micro USB port seems to just be for charging the battery. If I have an external DVD-ROM attached, it still seems to drain the battery even when it's plugged in. Lastly, I use a mini HDMI adapter but since that port is so close to the micro USB port it doesn't fit when the USB cable is plugged in. That means I can't run off AC power and use the HDMI at the same time. This may not be an issue with an actual mini HDMI cable or a different adapter.

Perfect For My Needs
||Posted .I've been a long time Kindle fan, but it didn't suit my needs for school. I have custom desktop that I primarily use for gaming and when at home. I also have a gaming laptop, but between my books, binders, and that beast of a laptop, it quickly became too much to lug around. The battery life wasn't great either. It made it hard to pick up and go for school work. That's when I decided I needed an extremely portable tablet with a keyboard that would fit well in an already full backpack, have great battery life, and with my online classes as well. I originally planned to purchase a Google Chromebook as it would fit my needs pretty well, but after explaining them to a worker, I was shown this. This is perfect for students. It comes with a full version of Microsoft Office, which has come in handy many times. On the Chromebook I would have been limited to Google Drive. Don't get me wrong, I am still a Google fan, but when it comes to dealing with school, Office is much better suited at this time. The battery life is long enough to last the school day, but if it doesn't, the charger is very portable as well. However, the included charging cable is extremely short and limiting if you need to use the device while charging. It may sound minute, but that is one of my biggest (and only) gripes with the Transformer. If you haven't guessed already, I'm into gadgets and gaming. One of the first things I did was download some of my games from GOG and Steam onto the machine to see what I could play. Older games such as Fallout, Arcanum, and Half-Life run great. New, less graphically-intensive games such as FTL, Braid, Syder Arcade all work great too. I even got KOTOR to work fairly well on good settings. I consider this a fringe benefit, but this is not a purchase to be made for portable gaming. I attempted Steam In-Home streaming and it worked, but was clunky and choppy. Whether this is do to my poor wireless connection, or the machine, I'm not sure. Another thing potential buyers should be aware of is that this is more of a very tiny, sleek laptop than a tablet. If you are just looking for apps, Netflix, readers, ect., there are better, cheaper devices for that use. Physically the machine looks great. The detachable keyboard feels decent when typing. The trackpad isn't bad, but isn't great either. I use a wireless mouse or the touch screen as needed. The touchscreen works rather well, but occasionally I end up selecting the wrong thing. TL;DR Pros: - Lightweight - Very Portable - Comes with Full Microsoft Office - Great For Students - Good Battery Life - Can Play Some Decent Games (Just don't expect a whole lot of power there.) - Decent Storage, Can Expand with Micro SD Cons: - Charging Cord is Extremely Short (You can replace it with any micro to USB cord though.) - Only 720p (Minor gripe considering my use of the tablet, but it Netflix would look better on higher res devices.) - It's Best Used as a Tiny Laptop Rather Than a Tablet - Sound Seems too Quiet There weren't any cases specifically for this, but this one works well and can hold a mouse, SD cards and the charger easily. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-mini-laptop-sleeve/9926416.p?id=1218196187925&skuId=9926416

Netbook replacement
||Posted .I bought this as a replacement for an 2010 Acer Netbook. I was looking for something that had a long battery life and could run Ms office and this fits the bill perfectly. I was amazed at how far it started up and shut down in comparison to my old netbook. I was also impressed with the different apps ability to sync my info from outlook, onedrive/skydrive (or whatever they are calling it today) and even Google products. (For some reason I expected Microsoft to bad at using apps and cloud computing) as far as the dimensions go is pretty much the same size as a netbook or chromebook. It seems heavier than you might expect for the size but not unreasonably so. I use the keyboard often but even so I find myself using the touchscreen much more than I thought I would. The main reason for that is the mouse pad is pretty terrible, I mean almost useless. I end up swiping screens all the time by accident. Which brings me to windows 8. It's not as bad as you may have heard but it is a fairly steep learning curve for some raised on the traditional versions of windows. It took an entire weekend to get any kind of comfort level with it and I still have to stop and think my way through things like finding the file menu or adjusting the brightness level. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking at chromebooks or budget laptops.

Works exactly as I expected it to
||Posted .After researching Android, Apple, and Win8 tablets I determined that this unit best suited my needs. I use Word and Excel documents daily, and the fact that the T100 comes with a version of Office13 and a keyboard in addition to a touch screen made it better for me than other tablets. It's great for work away from my desk, and for surfing and emails at the coffee shop . I bought a 128GB thumb drive and 3 x 32GB micro SD cards for less than $75. I now have more than 250GB total storage (not that I'll ever need that much). I read all the negative reviews about the case, screen resolution, keyboard and touch pad, and while they were all fair and accurate observations, at $350 including a keyboard and MS Office, it was still by far the best portable unit for my purposes. I understand that other OS offer more apps, but I reasoned that if I couldn't find what I needed out of the 10/M+ apps offered, I probably couldn't find what I wanted in 400/M+ either. If you're looking for a portable computer/tablet you should give the T100 some serious consideration.

Great throw-away computer/tablet.
Posted .This was a great value at first, Windows 8.1, Office, etc.. however almost immediately I had problems with power and volume buttons on the tablet falling behind the case (I had to pry these out with a small screwdriver), the power cord being loose/wobbly, and the wire fraying. However the worst thing was when I was holing the tablet reading one day and while getting up the mere pressure of my thumb cracked the screen. Now 1/3 of the touch screen doesn't work and I have to use the tablet with the mouse pad if at all. I'm not some giant buff dude either, seemed like normal use and in no way felt like I put a lot of pressure on the screen, but of course it is not covered under warranty. Kinda disappointing because other than quality-wise it was a great purchase.

Big bang for the buck
||Posted .So far I am enjoying this Asus transformer computer/tablet. It is very fast for a small unit... with a MUCH better Atom processor than most mini-computers. Love... the detachable screen to use as a tablet!!! Full MS Office, adobe, flash player, and more. I have had some issues with the power-on! Sometimes I have to hold the power button down for 10 sec., release, and then hit the power button again. A few times I've had to repeat this process 2-3 times, bummer!!! The mouse pad is another item they could work on. It's to sticky, not sensitive like a full size laptop. Well, those are the only issues I've had- and even knowing them... I would buy it anyway... I recommend this as a good unit to make minor - moderate corrections or adjustments to a project already in started, web search/browsing, lightweight and compact, decent battery life and doesn't get hot with extended use. The base gives a 3.0 USB port, with a micro flash drive input on the tablet to increase the memory or to download items from other sources! If they had a 4.5 Star, I would have given it that! Worth the money for the purpose of use.

Is it a tablet or a mini laptop?
||Posted .I got this so my 10yo daughter could do school work but sill have the convenience and (peer pressure) cool factor of a tablet. The cool factor means she takes it out to use it more often and is becoming more familiar with the features of a laptop. It also comes with a Microsoft Office Student version, so she has Word, Powerpoint, and other programs she needs to do school work. Windows 8 means it takes quite some getting used to for adults, but gladly children adopt much quicker! The great thing about Windows 8 is that any program with a .exe extension could be run on the platform (no need to download only tablet apps from the store). Because it is essentially a computer, I also loaded Webroot anti-virus, etc. on it and would recommend to anyone (don't get fooled into thinking it's JUST a tablet and doesn't need it!). I try to always monitor her usage on line but the mobile form factor makes that a challenge sometimes. Another excellent thing is that I could use Windows 8 to lock down the Internet browsing features so she cannot go to any adult content sights, even if accidentally doing a Google search for words that have dual meanings (presumably), so I feel better about her using it in a different room when I cannot directly monitor her usage.
