So far so good - great value for the price!Posted .
Bought this laptop just before Black Friday for only $320. So far I'm very pleased with it! A few nuances that are just things I need to get used to - for example I keep accidentally hitting the touchpad which causes my typing to pick up on a random part of the page and I am still figuring out key locations versus a full keyboard. Also have a big learning curve with Windows 8, but that's not the fault of the laptop! Battery life tested so far is 4+ hours. I did have to run the battery down once to get it to charge to a full 100%. Love that it has a USB 3.0 port which charges my phone quickly, plus the memory card slot which can read SD cards and possibly others. Also has media shortcut keys for play/stop/fast forward/rewind. Lightweight at under 6# and I love the 10-key. No issues with speed or memory thus far. I am mainly using this for viewing videos and using the internet (multi-tab windows through firefox). No experience with how well it runs games yet!I would recommend this to a friend

Excellent budget laptopPosted .
I recently bought this laptop for around $350, as a replacement for a six-year-old laptop that finally died. For the money, I feel like this is pretty much an unbeatable deal. I use my computers primarily for editing and viewing documents, browsing the web, doing statistics, and occasionally doing some image editing. This computer is capable of handling those tasks with ease. This computer is likely to become obsolete very quickly; its specs are at the low end of standard for early 2013 (Intel Core i3 processor (2.3 GHz), 4 GB RAM, 500 GB rotating-disk hard drive). It has no problem handling Windows 8 or Office 2013, but I don't think I'll get more than a couple of years out of it. If you think of a laptop as a long-term investment, you should be looking to spend more than $400 for a machine, though. There are three things which truly annoy me about this computer. 1) Only 2 USB ports. This means that if you prefer an ergonomic keyboard and mouse, you can't have anything else plugged in unless you buy a USB hub. 2) Not sure if this is a Windows 8 problem or a problem with the computer itself, but it is very easy to make this machine freeze, usually by telling it to do too many things at one time. It will also freeze if you don't make sure it's fully asleep before trying to get it out of sleep mode. 3) Poor graphics capability. Again, this goes with the low-budget terrain. All in all, I'm very happy with this computer. I'd recommend it for anyone on a serious budget, or for people who don't really need a high-performance machine and don't care about impressing others with their computer choice.I would recommend this to a friend

You get what you pay forPosted .
First off, I am admittedly not technologically savvy, so the fact that I'm not completely satisfied with this PC may have a lot to do with that. I also just purchased it yesterday, so I'm sure I don't have all the kinks worked out yet. When I first started and set up the pc, most everything seemed to run smoothly. Today, however, I tried to turn it on and waited with a black screen for 10 minutes or so. I pressed the power button and turned it off(which I know isn't super healthy for your pc, but I didn't know what else to do other than wait however long it was going to take to start#. I turned it on a second time, this time plugging in the charger. And again, I waited with a black screen. So, I turned it off again. I pressed the start button to turn it on a third time, but this time the pc didn't even attempt to start. Finally, after several times of pressing it, it started. A second problem I've had is running several programs at the same time...maybe this pc was not meant to multi-task, and customer service did say that these are slow when running multiple programs. My final biggest problem is that when scrolling over, this pc has a habit of going back to the home screen or other screens that may be minimized#which I try not to keep open because of this#. I guess this is a feature of Windows 8, which I am definitely not familiar with. I was able to choose to keep it from doing that yesterday through settings-perhaps I have to choose to shut off that setting each time I start the pc#which would be pretty annoying). To sum it up, I got what I paid for; I purchased it for only $349. I purchased it for schoolwork, web browsing, and to watch movies. The issues I have had may just be quirks I can work out over time-although I am seriously considering returning it and upgrading to the higher-performance i5 model. Like I said, I've only had a this pc for a day, so I'll give it some time and contact customer service if I have any more major problems. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

great laptopPosted .
Overall I think asus delivers. The only thing that ticks me off is the operating system ( or maybe Im still not used to windows 8). The keyboard works great . I just hope that there's a USB hub on both sides though. So far, it boots up easily prolly because there's no files in it yet but we'll see once it gets filled up. * the only downside was encountering a couple problems during the order process :( I just so frustrated with bestbuy that Im not sure Ill get anything from them again. Good thing some of their cu reps were so nice and helpful. I just saw that the price has gone down ( plus there's a bundling promo for it ) I just wish that I waited before I bought this laptop. :DI would recommend this to a friend

pretty good computer for the pricePosted .
pretty good computer except for the website showed that it had a back light keyboard, and it turned out that it didn't. 3 months after using it, the hard drive crashed. i was under the assumption that when it said that there was a 1 year warranty, that it was a manufacturers warranty, and as it turns out that there is a 2 day warranty on the computer. im not extremely impressed by Best Buy in the matter of getting it fix, ended up having to buy the best buy 1 year warranty. No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Brand response from Asus_AnswersPosted .
Dear Valued Customer,
I apologize for the issues that you have experienced with your laptop. The Best Buy standard warranty should be 14 or 30 days. If you purchased the extended warranty, then it could extend to up to 3 years, I believe. The Geek Squad protection is recommended, but if you did not purchase it, you do have a 1 year warranty through Asus. It does require that you send it in, though. If you ever needed anything checked out, and Best Buy cannot service it for whatever reason, please feel free to e-mail me or contact our customer support. I can be reached at email@example.com.

Best Buy LiesPosted .
I was expecting a backlit keyboard because BestBuy advertised that it had one. The website is wrong and the web sales people wouldn't work with me after I had purchased it. I had to go to the store nearby and convince the manager there. He ended up discounting an Acer. No, I would not recommend this to a friend
