Perfect laptop for students
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a new laptop for college use and I did a lot of research before pushing this laptop. I needed a lightweight, compact, fast, and long life battery. I found this laptop and decided to give it a chance, and turns out that I love it. I get more than 10 hours of battery life and it charges fast. The time that takes the laptop to start after pressing the power bottom is minimum. My school has a really poor internet connection and navigating through internet can get difficult with some devices, however this laptop doesn't have problems with it and I'm able to navigate pretty smooth. The fan of the computer makes very minimum to almost no noise, but keeps the laptop from overheating pretty good. The touch screen responds pretty well to the touch and keyboard feels really nice made.

Windows 10 Unstable?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: I wanted a laptop for school, and this one looked like the one that fit my needs perfectly. I don't like laptops in general because of the feel of the keyboard; I'm used to typing with tiered keyboards, and flat chicklet keyboards are very uncomfortable to me. Typing with this one doesn't feel much different than most other laptop keyboards, but one thing to note is that the keys are matte-finished, whereas some others like the MacBook are glossy. When typing, the matte causes a sort of scratchy sound as you're moving around from key to key. It doesn't bother me, but my friend pointed it out to me as she was listening to me type. Additionally, the touchpad is about in line with the left edge of the F key, which is slightly more to the right than some other laptops, which is what I was looking for (but now my right hand sometimes taps the touchpad instead of my left). The typing experience was why I bought this laptop, since spec/feature-wise almost every laptop is pretty much the same given a certain price point. For these factors fitting my preferences, I'd give this laptop 5 stars. However... Cons: I've been having an issue with unexplained freezes since I installed Windows Updates. It ran fine before I installed them, but it was only about 8 hours between opening the box and running Windows Updates, so I don't know if Windows Updates is the actual culprit. I've tried troubleshooting it myself through using Event Viewer, but Event Viewer doesn't seem to indicate any source of the problem. Googling around, I've seen people with similar problems, but I'm not sure if they're the same. When Microsoft offered to upgrade Windows 7/8 to Windows 10 for free, apparently some Asus computers were having issues with the upgrade, so perhaps there's a compatibility issue here. Of course, there's a lot of ranting on the internet about Windows 10 being slow or buggy. I'm thinking of pegging this issue on Windows 10. Further comments: I love the portability and feel of the laptop and want to love it more, but the sudden freezes make note-taking--or anything at all, really--risky. It hurts jotting down a bunch of notes and then being hit with a freeze, only to realize you forgot to save. It feels like I'm back in the '90s, needing to remember to save every five minutes. I think I'd recommend this to anyone willing to install Windows 7 on it!

Love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop! It's light, fast, and sophisticated. I've been using it for a little over a month now, it has fulfill my expectations so far, and I-m very happy with it. I've used to run a video game that I like and it works perfectly, and I'm about to start using it to edit videos. I love the Touch Screen even though I wasn't so sure about it when I first got it. The fan is a little bit loud when you're in a very quiet environment, but it's not that bad. Battery duration is ok - I was expecting a little bit more to be honest, but it's enough I guess. Now, I wouldn't really mind the fact that it comes with Windows 10, well besides all the security flats that it has, there are two things I've noticed that are making me consider call to customer service (I just haven't done it because as far as I've read, it might be an issue with the OS, and not with the computer) but sometimes when I'm using headphones and I unplug them, the sound system stops working, and it doesn't start again until I plug and unplug my earphones again, it is really annoying - I read that I should update the audio drive, so I'm gonna do that. Another thing is that every now and then when I'm using my browser the screen goes blue for a second (only the browser window), and then it says something like "the display has recovery" or something like that, which again, seems to be a current issue with Windows 10, so I'm just giving a little more time. Overall, I'm very happy with this computer, I LOVE the keyboard (it really is fantastic), and everything else!

Perfect laptop for work, personal & travel
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My new ASUS replaced a very old competitive brand laptop. The features on the ASUS laptop are great and I seem to discover something new about it everyday. Not being too technically inclined, I am frankly enamored with some of the more obvious features. It is so lightweight that I can once again travel with my laptop! I love the touch screen and the incredible length of battery life. I have to admit that I had help selecting this brand/model from a relative who is in the IT business so I am very comfortable that I got the right laptop for my home based business. I trust his research and analysis as he was looking at all of the technical considerations to make sure that I got the best product for my needs.

Blue Screen Errors
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer was beautiful and compact. My only problem with it was with the operating system which kept giving me blue screen errors. Geek Squad wasn't able to decipher the meaning of the particular blue screen error it kept giving me. (It said something like "...NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL_TO".) (I had gotten a picture of it.) They also couldn't replicate it, so it was difficult for them to solve it. I actually traded this computer in before the 15 day return policy was up. My next computer gave me the same error!! It is resolved now. I have two theories as to why it happened. 1- My friend, who has a computer science degree, thought the problem was Kaspersky, the virus software that Best Buy gives you for free. 2- The Windows system was waaay out of date, which caused some kind of conflict and thus the blue screen error. The thing with buying a computer from Best Buy is that often the computers can sit in their warehouses for months before they are sold. They're never turned on during that time. My new computer's Windows system had to update several times. It took about a week for my new computer to get all of the necessary updates. I don't know if waiting for all of those updates to hit my ASUS computer would have solved the problem. Regardless, the out-of-date Windows software is a concern anyone buying a Best Buy computer should be aware of.

Good except for some crushes
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is overall good, friendly keyboard typing experience; great screen; track pad is fine, but compare with apple product... The problems are the crushes, the screen turns black several times when I'm using app to watch videos or play games
