      Unprecedented battery life, great value.

First things, this is not a power gamer phone. If you need top notch gamer of heavy cpu/gpu performance please move on and do not leave sour reviews if it didn't do what Asus does not intend it to do. You will have to pay a lot more money. This phone fits my use case perfectly. I need my phone for work, email, slack, texts and Skype calls. It preforms these functions wonderfully. I spend a lot of time in these apps and the screen is as big and bright as my iphone 6 plus screen. It's a Asus, so I trust the brand and the build quality feels very nice. The battery is honestly ridiculous. I can use the phone all day and have 66% battery left. It's a 5000mah battery. My iphone 6 plus battery was 2700mah. It's almost 2x the size. The camera is very nice and fast. it has 2.3x real zoom which is better that the iPhone 7 ($700 phone). The fingerprint sensor is fast and better than the sensor on my iphone 6 plus. Now, for the ZenUI. It's Marshmallow base but Asus has an release date for Nougat . I didn't care for ZenUI look and feel that much myself. I fixed this in 20 minutes by installing a ZenUI Marshmallow theme from the app store, Asus provides a theme engine! Installing Nova launcher and switchign to Googboard (keyboard). Then I disabled some Asus apps I didn't want, but honestly most of them are useful apps. Now it looks and works very close to Stock Android. This phone also has USB C. This is a requirement for me. I switched to iPhone because of micro usb port failures. No need to worry your charging port is going to fail while you are traveling and leave you without a mobile device.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom is an awesome phone with 3 outstanding features and 1 niggling problem. First, the niggling problem - the phone is slippery....the sides and rear are extremely smooth and slippery. Very easy to drop the phone. I ordered a leather case to hopefully solve that issue. The outstanding features... 1. FANTASTIC battery life! I'm getting more than TWO DAYS of battery life with medium use corporate use - emails, calendar, some browsing, many calls, Uber, Maps/Satnav and camera use. It has the biggest battery of any phone on the market yet is still slim and light - amazing! 2. The fingerprint reader on the back is AWESOME! I unlocks the phone almost instantly, so no more pin code entries, and it even works with many apps...simply touch the conveniently placed fingerprint scanner on the rear of the phone and you're more remembering passwords etc! It works brilliantly and very fast. 3. The camera has two lenses, a wide-angle, fast lens for normal shots which work well in the dark and an optical 2.3x telephoto lens for longer distance work. The camera is optically stabilized and even features PDAF focussing for very fast focus. I highly recommend this phone. It's far better than any iPhone for corporate use, IMHO, and better than any comparably sized Android that I've ever tried. If you want a phone for primarily games and videos on a huge screen, then get one of the common phablets instead. This is a phone for serious use.

Second Worst Smartphone I've Ever Owned

      • My Best Buy® MemberMember

Pros: + Cheap + Long battery life + Frequent updates Cons: + Very fragile + Glitchy software + Lacks 5ghz WiFi and NFC + No good cases available, despite the phone NEEDING one So, I'll open by saying I'm not gentle with my phones, but I'm certainly not a toddler throwing a tantrum either. My phones get dropped sometimes or a bit of water spilled on them, but nothing too extreme. My last three phones were all Nexus devices and they all ran me 2+ years before issues started cropping up. After bringing the phone home I tried to connect to my WiFi and realized it only supports 2.4 ghz. The glass in front of the camera cracked almost the first time I set the phone down without a case. After getting it exchanged I get the most rugged looking case I could, which ended up being a thin sheet of plastic and a mediocre screen protector (again, no good options). The power button and volume rocker get jammed into the phone body and stop working until I pry at them frequently, many times just from bumping the phone into a counter or door frame while walking. The volume up portion is now permanently stuck after just a few months. The camera on the phone is okay. It's not amazing, no where near what I expected. The depth of field thing is neat, but the photos are grainy. Lastly, ASUS has some kind of built in memory cleaner that I haven't figured out how to shut down. Apps that are supposed to play in the background (YouTube, Play Music, Audible, etc...) randomly die and don't save my place correctly. On top of that, the seeker bar in Play Music randomly stops working, restarting the current track instead of seeking despite the app working perfectly on every other device that I own. As to the good, the bullet points sum it up - it's cheap and has a long battery, and ASUS pushes out regular security updates. TL;DR: Get something else.

Good for AT&T, Poor for T-Mobile

      • My Best Buy® MemberMember

This phone feels fantastic in the hand. The weight of the battery and the quality of the materials used give it a really premium feel. The battery is impressively massive, the screen is bright, clear, and colorful, and the camera takes sharp photos. The phone also has an update to Android 7.1.1. Fantastic. HOWEVER. This phone was released 2nd quarter on 2017, and lacks Band 12. Band 12 is T-Mobile's newest LTE band, and is the one they're aggressively rolling out. That means this phone is a no-go for T-Mobile Customers. The Moto G5+ that replaced the ZenFone3 Zoom we purchased gets excellent reception where the Zenfone gets NONE. No matter the quality of the phone, it's worthless without the correct frequency bands. This is a truly bizarre omission from an unlocked phone in 2017. The phone also omits support got 5GHz wifi and has no NFC. TL;DR: Great hardware, giant battery, nice camera, microSD slot, up-to-date Android OS. Missing LTE bands for T-Mobile. Buy for AT&T, Skip for T-Mo. No Wifi calling even with updated OS.

      Great until it breaks

I LOVED this phone.... for the first 5 months I had it. Then, it's battery started draining, the apps started crashing more, and mostly annoyingly, the screen is covered in dark grey streaks. They aren't always there, they appear and disappear more or less at random - sometimes they won't be there for days at a time, but they always come back, and they move around the screen depending on where the color black appears on the screen. On top of that, the fantastic camera is now useless as my phone crashes every time I open the camera app. Since my phone is less than a year old I'm trying to get it fixed under warranty, but I've been attempting to go through ASUS customer service for over a week now and their customer service is terrible. They accept almost nothing as proof or purchase (I had to drive back to the best buy I purchased the phone at to show them the original credit card they still won't accept the receipt!), are slow to communicate, and quoted my false information about my phone being out of warranty when I first contacted them. Wish I could recommend this phone, but if it fails on you, good luck.

      Great Camera, Battery Life

      • Verified PurchaserVerified Purchase

This phone is a great value. It thrives more than what it lacks. As others have mentioned, it has superior battery life. Why don't we see this kind of tech in phones like Samsung and Apple? We all know why. For a 5000mAh battery, this thing lasts me three days on a single charge. The camera is really good too. Bringing quality pictures to mid-range phones is a plus and a delight. Does well in low-light, but nothing to write home about. The thing that made this phone lose a star is the bloated software. It has so much going on in the background, it's impossible to watch a video and enjoy it whether it's played locally or on YouTube, NetFlix, etc. The UI lags behind the audio. I think another thing I would have liked to see is the ability to put a custom ROM on there. The ZenUI is so bloated and I like having minimal things on there. Overall a great phone that you don't have to plug in every night, I took it with me to the Philippines and it was awesome and it worked very well. Would I consider buying another one? Perhaps.

The Asus Zenfone Zoom 3 has dual Sony lens and 12x zoom. I love the pics I take with this phone. The battery is amazing, so it's a plus when using the camera. Additionally, the dual sims and the Zen UI interface are intuitive and attractive. I intend to keep this phone for a very long time. The price and the features make is it the best Smartphone out there as compared to the expensive prices of the other phones, Not to mention that Zenfone 3 zoom has dual sims, encrypted, and fingerprint sensor. The Geek Squad warranty is the best available. I am highly satisfied with customer service inside the store, online and on the phone.

Great battery & camera but poor design

My husband and I both bought this phone. He dropped his and found only one repair shop all the way in Addison that would work on Asus phones. They of course could not fix it. Several months later, I dropped my phone (very light drop) and the screen was not shattered but the display would not work. Apparently this is a common problem with this phone. From what I am told and have experienced myself, Asus phones are very fragile and it is impossible to find a repair shop in the DFW area that can work on them. I absolutely loved the long battery life and great camera, but it needs to be designed to be a little more durable. Also because Asus phones are less common in America, it was very difficult to find cases or screen protectors that are drop proof/tested. I will now only buy more common phones (apple, samsung, LG) so that the repairs shops will be able to fix them if the need arises.
