Life Saver!
||Posted .My new Channel Master DVR is amazing. But, in order to have the slimmest case (Amazingly thin!) it utilized a mini-toslink to full size Toslink for my Home Theater Audio. The "Audioquest Mini Adaptor" did the trick and works well, too. The most interesting aspect of this is that few people carry these gems. Only one Best Buy in Phoenix (Glendale Arrow Head) did, and they keep them in the back. (Shh...)

Not What I Thought It Was
||Posted .This product was recommended to me to purchase for use with my home stereo system. What I was not told is that this adapter CANNOT and WILL NOT work on any system that does not use digital audio signals. I was wanting to convert the optical signal from my 4K tv to my stereo aux port so I could get sound from my stereo instead of my TV. It was not explained to me prior to purchase that this adapter would not convert the audio into a signal my stereo could read. I have an analog system instead of a digital system. For someone who didn't really know much about digital audio conversion and if it could even be converted, this should have been explained. For someone who has a media source that accepts digital audio and they want to use the aux port on the system, I know this would work fine.

Looks good.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I believe this is just what I need, but have not been in the valley so have not actually tried it. I was able to pick it up on my way out of town. Everyone at the store was very helpful. Thank you.

Excellent Toslink optical adapter
||Posted .I originally purchased a cheaper Toslink-to-3.5mm mini optical adapter for my HTPC running XBMC to connect to our 5.1 surround system. You get what you pay for sometimes. The cheaper adapter would not stay connected to the end of my Toslink cables. With the slightest bump to the cable the adapter would pop off and kill the audio. This AudioQuest adapter stays put. There is a very positive snap when the adapter is put on the cable and it will not come off until you want to remove it from the cable. It stays plugged into the mac mini as well and won't accidentally come unplugged.

Apple was not clear at all
||Posted .This review applies to both Best Buy Service and the product. I purchased an Airport Express with Digital Optical for sound quality. The instructions were not clear an adaptor was required, i was looking for a whole cable, for days online. I went to my local Best Buy Store. It took a less than 5 minutes for the associate in Home Theatre to figure out what I needed. It does the thick. Thanks Best Buy! Great service yet again

Bettter than the cheap ones
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I had originally bought a cheap one on amazon. When I connected my toslink to the amazon one, it would slip out. The audioquest adapter holds the toslink securely. Teh cable snaps right in.

Q: QuestionI bought a Samsung that came with Toslink cable , but couldn't believe my TV doesn't have that port on it . This says adapter for 3.5 that you put on regular size Toslink. Will it then connect to 3.5 digital out on TV OR NOT ? Using 3.5 digital now
Asked by 81CHEVYMAN.
- A:Answer I bought this to connect my receiver to a google audio cast. The receiver has an optical port and the cast only a 3.5. It worked perfectly. Just plugged in the adapter and it worked.

Q: QuestionWill this work for a single wire component connector to a headphone from the optical connection on Samsung TV?
Asked by golfie.
- A:Answer Toslink is a digital format, and a cable cannot convert digital to analog, or vice versa. In order to connect your headphones to the TV you need a headphone jack on the TV. If they're isn't one, you would need a DAC (digital to analog convertor). The Toslink cable would connect to the DAC's digital input, and you could connect the headphone's to the DAC's analog output.

Q: QuestionWill this connector work to connect a pair of computer speakers to my TV? I plan on using the toslink cable to this adapter and a female 3.5 connector to a 3.5 male from the computer speakers

- A:Answer No this is only for a mini toslink input/output such as on a 2006 to 2012 macbook.

Q: QuestionI have a tv that has a Digital Audio Out but no Optical port. I want to connect to a roku soundbar. hdmi audio does not work from tv to soundbar but the soundbar has an Optical port. Will this adapter work on one end of Optical into Digital Audio port?
Asked by Goinuts.
- A:Answer That's my understanding. My TV also has just the Digital Audio Out, so you need this adapter. The Optical plug will plug into the kind of square end, then the adapter plugs into the TV Digital Audio Out port. Good luck. I ordered one from another company and could not get the Optical plug to snap in place, but this one did.
