Simple & Cheap
|Posted .Purchased these for a bedroom setup. Not the same quality as Audioquest, but for the money a solid runner up. If you're looking to set up a home theatre, buy the Audioquest version of these. If it's an auxiliary system, these will suit your needs wonderfully. Simple to install, work well, haven't had an issue.

Bad contact
|Posted .The banana plugs really didn't serve the purpose. I bought them thinking it would make it easier to connect my new Bowers-Wilkins speakers. It didn't work out. In a nutshell the inner pin does not hold the speaker wire contact, even with the spacer provided.

Solidly built, unsure about connection
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAs my title says, I find these to be well built and solid. I was very happy to purchase these instead of cheaper, plastic banana plugs. These puppies close very firmly, make a strong connection with the plug, and have some heft to them. What I'm not sure about, and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars, is the method by which you connect your speaker wire to them. Now I must add one caveat -- I was using 18-gauge wire and the package does say "for 12 - 16 gauge" and I fully understand why now. 18-gauge wire is really too small and connecting these is made rather difficult and uncertain using wire that small. To connect, you unscrew the two pieces, cut your speaker wire (do NOT strip the wire), slide the back shell over the wire and then slip on a small, plastic, compression "nut" that will hold the wire firmly in place. Finally, slide the center of your wire, with insulation still on, over the metal pin that pokes from the back of the front (plug) portion. This pin is supposed to slide inside the speaker wire insulation to make the connection. Well, with 18 gauge wire, it is pretty difficult to push in the pin and confirm the connection. To complete the assembly, screw the back shell onto the front section and you're done. So I highly recommend these banana plugs and strongly encourage you to use 12-, 14-, or 16-gauge speaker wire.

Making connections easy

Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5Good banana plugs to use for connection of speakers to your receiver. Better than trying to stick wires in a terminal strip hole and tightening down. You have to use these carefully cause if you install the wires without paying attention they will come out easy so don't loose the collars that come with them.

Tough install but great performance
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOnce these are connected, they are great. They did seem to take a bit more effort than I expected to get onto the speaker wire. You unscrew the plug first to separate it into a back piece and the front plug piece. Next, slip the back piece over the end of the unstripped speaker wire. Then a small compression fitting is slid over the end of the speaker wire (this is a bit tough as it is quite tight). I suppose the ease of slipping the compression piece onto the wire will be a function of the wire sheath -- mine is a very "soft, rubbery, high-friction" sheath, hence the difficulty. Then the tip of the speaker wire must be inserted into the back of the plug half, and aligned such that a small pin (inside the plug half) is inserted into the middle of the wire. The two halves of the banana plug are then screwed together to complete the install. Following install of 10 of these things for my 5.1 system, my fingertips were sore from all forceful manipulation. Install of the plugs into the back of my AV Receiver, however, was awesome (simply push them in).
Q: QuestionDirections state that stripping the speaker wire is unnecessary. How are they supposed to get a good connection if none of the wire is exposed? Has anyone used these with out stripping the wire?
Asked by BAnaNa.
- A:Answer No.... I had to strip about a 1/4 and push hard while tightening the clip.

Q: QuestionIs there a fix for Loose Banana PlugsI am trying to install your Banana Plugs on some 18 gauge speaker wire. I am using the Black insert but the plugs seem to fall of with any type of pull and are a loose fit on the insulated wire. Is the insulation on my wire too thin to create the friction required to retain the plugs? What do you suggest?
Asked by JR.
- A:Answer Cut wire longer and fold it, so its thicker.

Q: QuestionWill they work with wires put in somewhere and just one end to plug in?I have a subwoofer with wires already into the subwoofer and need to put other wires into banana plug, then into receiver. Can it be done that way?
Asked by Beatle.
- A:Answer Yes. I did this to connect a Klipsche Bookshelf speakers with banana plug to Yamaha surround channels. You should have no trouble connecting your subwoofer to your receiver using a banana plug
