Only real complaint is the fingerprint sensor is a bit temperamental your finger has to be placed just as it was when you scanned it in but not really a huge issue we just reverted to using digital keypad instead. Also the top shelf could really use some felt padding like bottom of safe. I cut a piece of felt and made this myself.

I ordered this safe to replace an identical one which would sometimes hang up and fail to open even when the correct pin code or a matching finger print was entered. I liked the shelf which is included and the three ways to open the safe. This one seems to work much better than the original one in terms of not hanging up instead of opening when it should.

After reading many very positive and very negative reviews of this biometric safe, I decided to take a chance and bet on the folks who seemed to have read the directions before lodging complaints across the internet. The folks who bothered to read the directions and use fresh batteries were correct - this is an awesome "basic" biometric entry safe at an very fair entry-level price. Negative - the included batteries lasted one day and then died. There was some welding junk that prevented the door from closing properly that I had to file down to make the safe function properly, and the shelf is pretty junky. That said, for the price, it is a well-functioning (electronically) biometric scanner on a simple safe that will suit the purposes of most people who prefer not to deal with combination or keypad locks and want fast access to whatever they keep in it. It a accurately reads a fingerprint 98% of the time on the first try, so long as YOU remember the position you held your finger in when you scanned it. This seems to be the chief source of complaints - people who think that the scanner "knows" your whole finger, when it only knows what you showed it. If you hold your print on the scan plate in generally the same position every time, it will unlock nearly every time. Overall, not something to keep gold and jewels in, but if you have something you need to keep safe but also have quick access to, this is an excellent bargain!
