    Synopsis

    *batteries not included
Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy are among the impoverished residents of a slum tenement threatened with demolition by evil land developers. Only a miracle can save Cronyn, Tandy, and their friends -- and that miracle manifests itself in the form of a "family" of extraterrestrial flying saucers, who need the electricity provided by the tenement to survive. The grateful humanized spaceships repay their earthbound hosts by doing battle with the villains' henchmen. When the building is engulfed in flames, all seems lost, but the aliens have a few more tricks up their metallic sleeves. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

I loved this movie since I could remember, bought it two years ago on DVD from best buy and my only regret back then was it not being available on Bluray. But here we are 2 years later with a new copy in bluray! The picture quality is Amazing for films age, color depth is very nice and the picture sharpness is not excessively sharp to the point that the picture looks distorted. I played it on my 65 inch LG OLED E6 and my Samsung UBD-K8500, great combination.

Even after more than 25 years the only thing that doesn't hold up in this movie are the costumes. Otherwise this movie could have been made 2 years ago and you wouldn't know the difference. Only one brief scene is not family friendly and that is when the artist is painting his neighbor. She is clothed but the painting is not.

Universal Home Video's treatment of their catalog titles on Blu-ray varies wildly. Some are well-treated, while others are put out with older HD transfers riddled with edge enhancement and digital noise reduction. This title fares pretty well, fortunately.

An elderly couple who run a diner in a broken down tenement in Brooklyn have fallen on their last hope....some small very special visitors might have just what they need. A favorite of my childhood, worth the price of admission so to speak.

I have to say this movie is still great and now I love the fact I get to share it the joy it have brought me with others. They don’t make movies like this anymore that’s for sure.

Good non-Christmas movie to watch on Christmas. Not sure why it is rated in 6s, 8+ is more appropriate, JMHO. Not really a Sci-Fi, just warm, at times funny, "good-for-all-ages" movie, with, predictably, happy end.

Always loved this movie and was glad when the blu-ray version came out! Great! Considering how old this movie is (1987) the picture quality is pretty good. Sound not great, but still enjoyable.

I remembered watching this years ago, and it was a charming and fun little film, so I purchased it again in Blu-ray format, and I wasn't let down. Really cute!
