Not enough ports > Now there is!
||Posted .I love my computer, saying that I just need more USB ports, I have tried a couple different one and so far knock on wood this one has held up well. I would recommend it to anyone that needs more USB ports, it is externally energized.

Handy Device
||Posted .I love this and it stays connected to my desktop. I originally bought this to go with my Surface Pro 2 but I didn't realize that it had to be plugged into the wall. I ended up buying a second one for that and this one is now connected to my home computer. I have not noticed any slowing of transferring my data.

Plug n chug
||Posted .This is actually my second Belkin 7 port USB hub. I use one at home and one at work. The one at home has all ports being used as I have many many devices and stuff to plug in - it might be enough ports. The home version replaced a lower quality hub with less ports and I fritzed and bricked it when I accidentally plugged in a wrong AC adapter - caution: watch your amps guys. The other one I use at work (I'm a mobile developer) so I have many test devices around me. Sadly, for some reason it refuses to charge iPad - guess it doesnt output enough juice to the ports. However, I can plug in a few handhelds and they'll charge just fine (of course, not as well as wall plug or directly into your machine's USB port). Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product and I wonder what'll happen if I chain together several of these together.

Great way to expand plug-in capacity.
||Posted .I was having problems with the USB port connections on my monitor - it was my source for extra USB connections and was not dependable and caused some issues with my keyboard resulting in its malfunctioning. Once I unhooked everything from there and plugged this into my laptop ALL my issues were resolved. I have used Belkin products in the past and there reputation remains high with me. The 7 ports provide ample slots to plug in all my peripherals without having to unplug one to use another. Great product!!

Excellent
||Posted .My 3.0 USB ports are up in front of my computer & my presonus studio instructions tells me not to plug my interface into a USB 3.0 port. So, without this I'm constantly plugging in the back (which are where my 2.0 USB ports are) & it's a real pain in the neck (because you shouldn't leave the interface plugged in at all times like you might do with other things). With this strip I can unplug with ease as it's plugged into the 2.0 in back but the strip is upfront for easy access. It also gives me a number of extra ports, which is great, works excellent too.

An Awesome USB Hub!
||Posted .This USB hub has given my mac book pro 7 additional ports. As a DJ here in town, and a tech geek I rely on being able to connect as much hardware as possible. I can do it all with this device. This USB hub supports both 2.0 and 3.0 version and works great with both at fast speeds. I would recommended this for anybody trying to give their computer more USB connections.

Great tool, eager to "plug in" mor USBs
Posted .I replace my 4-port USB extender with this device and instantly freed up an extra port on my computer (the 4-port bus required 2 USB ports). Communications through the stick are smoother and faster. Currently using two ports but will continue to use more to reduce crawl time since my USB ports are on the back of the computer.

Q: QuestionCan this item be used as a charging station?I have an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Bluetooth, blood pressure cuff, oximeter. All of which requires USB ports and it's hard to carry lots of chargers when traveling.

- A:Answer To add to the answer from Belkin: As long as you plug-in its power adapter, it can be used as a "charging station"!

Q: QuestionAre all the ports usb ports? I bought a cheap one and only 2 out of 7 ports were usb ports, the other 5 were just for charging. I need many ports as possible for equipment for a podcast.

- A:Answer Yes the Belkin 7 port USB 2.0 has all ports flexible for USB data or charging or both. My only disappointment is that there are no LEDs on the device. My prior Belkin 4 port had LEDs and was great for quite a few years, but suddenly was crapping out - intermittently it would not connect my keyboard USB, etc. It is now in the pile of electronics to recycle. FYI - when I got the new USB 2.0 I realized I did not know much about 2.0 vs. 3.0. Turns out my Lenovo laptop has a "blue tongue" 3.0 port. So I went back and bought the Insignia 4 port USB 3.0 hub - works great. I put my new WD Passport on there for fastest speed, and daisy chained the 7 port USB 2.0 into it. Also connected a USB to 1 GB Ethernet adapter. All working, tons of reliable USB ports now!

Q: QuestionCharging with AC Adapter is not workingI wanted to use this primarily as a charging station but it doesn't charge using AC power only. I connected the hub to the AC adapter and plugged the AC adapter into a wall outlet and then plugged my iPhone 5 into one of the usb ports and got no charge. When I connected the hub to a laptop using the USB power adapter (the one that connects to the end of the hub adjacent the the AC adapter port) and then plugged my phone into one of the usb ports it charged fine. Does it have to plugged into a computer? If so, what is the AC adapter for?
Asked by Steve.
- A:Answer Hi, Steve. This unit will only function if connected to a computer. The adapter is intended to support the power consumption if you are using multiple hard drives at the same time.

- A:Answer I can not say about the laptops with Windows 8 but I have no issues with it working with my MacBook Pro laptop (2017), Mac desktop (2016) or my Dell laptop that is literally (2002) model.
