Easy to use, convenient product
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendPros: This transmitter is easy to use. It has very few controls, and those it does have are simple and effective. You can also stores for easy access the frequencies that you find to be interference-free. Turns off automatically when no audio signal is received from your player. Manages to play with good quality from very short distances. Cons: Transmission is clear on most frequencies ONLY if you have the unit in your hand. Transmission deteriorates drastically when the unit leaves your hand. Finally, the range is very short (less than 5 ft on a good transmission). The unit was less than three feet from my stereo antenna and my MP3 player volume was turned up to 100% to make the music heard on a supposedly free channel, and I could still hear some background static. Structurally, it is sometimes difficult to remove the cord from it's holding slot on the top of the unit. The auto-on feature described in the User Guide dos not seem to work. The unit did not power on when my MP3 player was plugged in and playing on full volume. Finally, the unit lacks a Scan function, so you have to find a free frequency yourself. The Belkin website provides a list of free frequencies in your zipcode, but they rely on a third-party provider for this information, so there's no telling how accurate it is. -------------------------------------------- Bottom Line: This unit will fit your needs if you just want to sit in your passenger or driver seat, and are patient enough to find a frequency and possibly hold it while it's playing. But handing it to someone in the rear rows for them to share their music? Forget it. Buy a more advanced (read: more expensive) unit with a stronger signal and a scan feature.

Static was a problem while driving
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendAt first the unit worked fine, after driving for a few blocks I would get static and have to constantly move it around to get a clear sound. The unit would distract me while driving so I took it back.

alright, but that's about it.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendi got this transmitter because i needed one that was "universal", aka, not for an ipod. for an mp3 player. also, my cigarette lighter has a shorted fuse, and this was literally the only reasonably priced transmitter i could find that didn't need a 12v power source. it does work okay, however i used it maybe an hour a day for a little over a week, and the batteries have already died, so it uses battery power super fast. i know if my 12v outlet actually worked that would help. i used to have one much like this one a long time ago, that didn't need batteries or a power source, because it ran off of my old ipod's energy, and it worked much better. the biggest problem i have with this one though, is that there's only one station i've found that works for being able to hear my music, and that's if i hang the transmitter with my mp3 player attached over my rear-view mirror like it's a parking tag or something. even then, the reception is fuzzy in some areas. as long as you can plug it into your cig lighter, and you have more station options, i'm sure this transmitter would work wonderfully. and for my only option i enjoy it a lot, compared to the radio. it's a good device, if you live in the right kind of area - frequency-wise.

Garbage
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendStatic and lots of it. Even with the Motor off. I was warned by the Salesgirl that most People bring these back and get the wired one with a Cassette. Since I paid less than $11 i just threw it away. Total Garbage.

Useless Product
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendThis product delivered insufficient FM signal output to generate a listenable audio level in a FM radio, even when the FM radio's antenna was within a few inches of this product. A check of the new batteries being employed indicated that they were fully charged and properly installed. Plugging a 12 volt dc power source into the device did not improve its performance. Sadly, I had to judge this product as useless and to return it to Best Buy.

Not at all worthwhile
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendI thought that since I live in a rural area that this unit would work well - not too many stations around to interfere with the broadcast of the unit. Unfortunately, that isn't the case at all. If I'm not holding it my hand (unsafe practice), I get so much static on any FM setting that it is impossible to hear what is playing. I have to say that this is probably the worst purchase I have ever made.

Sucks really bad
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendThis transmitter is a worthless piece of plastic. It barely comes in over the radio and when it does its extremely fuzzy and bad. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS EVER. I am going to return in ASAP and get a refund because of how bad this product is.

Dead on Arrival - for the 2nd time
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendMy bad luck to get this transmitter Dead On Arrival. The one that I got before (identical) was also Dead On Arrival. I'm a techie but I've never seen this before. From my vantage point the quality of these transmitters is highly suspect. Good luck if you buy one.
