An extremely portable, sleek, amazing device!
Posted .The Blackberry Playbook is a small extremely portable device that packs a big punch! It is absolutely amazing in the ease of use of it's touch screen, fast downloading of apps (although it came with a lot of apps) I downloaded other games & (mostly free) apps that I use in my daily life just to see them in action on my Playbook. The graphics, animations, web pages and pics are beautiful even when not in HD. I was shocked at the high volume of the speakers on the Playbook and the clarity of the sound even at it's highest volume, the personalization of the Playbook and it's fast charging too! I easily take my playbook every where I go, just like my keys, money & cell phone; I don' t leave home without my Playbook! Although I am one of the people who won my Playbook from Blackberry's PlaybookChi contest I would happily pay every cent of my own money to own a Playbook. It is absolutely money well spent.

awesome
Posted .All my friends and family's are apple fun. I have htcflyer small but powerfully. I got my wife a blackberry last minute buy the price is unbeatable. I was impress on graphics and performance . I know the apps is limited but I know sooner or later they gonna merge with android apps or apple that's the only way to compete with the technology business . The blackberry pluaybook book is superb in all aspect I compare it to my flyer the only thing that hold me back is the unlimited apps on my flyer. But once they open the android apps ill definitely buy onemore playbook.

An Amazing Tablet...as long as you know...
Posted .I have never written a review before, but I felt compelled to tell you a story. The story of the best purchase I have ever made. That being said, I will be FAIR and point out from the beginning that the PlayBook is NOT for everybody. Some things to know about me: - I own an IPAD 2 - I have never owned anything from Blackberry - I love Android and its extensive market - I like long walks on the beach....oh wait, I digress.... - This review hinges on the price remaining close to $200 If you are like me, you are reading this review because you were being diligent and doing your research to make sure the Playbook is the right fit for you. This won't be the only review you read, but let's start off with all the negatives you will undoubtedly come across: - Lack of Apps: This isn't an IPAD or Android based tablet, so you won't have access to the THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of apps on those systems. If you are an app junkie, walk away right now. - Lack of built in Email/Calendar: I don't know how a company called Research in Motion didn't do any research into every other tablet ever made because they would have found that the lack of a native Email program/Calendar is an embarrassing oversight - Power Button is really small - Some people are bothered by its size - Camera does NOT have LED flash Ok now let's get to the good stuff: - This thing multitasks better than my PC! LOL, for reals, it's amazing how you can run 5 or 6 different apps without skipping a beat. The OS on the PlayBook is simply superb in that respect. - The screen is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Seriously, I have an Ipad 2 and the clarity, brightness, and colors are AT LEAST on par with it. - While some people have complained about the size (Seriously, people, did you NOT look at the specs before you bought it? How do you even sleep at night after writing a review and complaining about the size when the rest of us are sitting here wondering what you thought you were buying?), I find the size perfect. - It feels so much more sleek and elegant than my Ipad. There are advantages to the Ipad's bigger screen, of course, but you won't miss that extra size because everything on the PlayBook feels right, feels proportional. - The camera doesn't have flash, but it takes phenomenal pictures and while I haven't tried recording yet, it can record video in 1080p - The speakers sound Great. Their placement is perfect and while NOT as good as HP's doomed tablet, but better than any other tablet out there - Most importantly, for me, was that the Web Browsing on here is FANTASTIC. It zips along fast, fast, fast and it can handle Adobe Flash, so there is literally nothing stopping you from having a great browsing experience. At the end of the day, you need to ask yourself what you are looking for in a tablet. I bought the PlayBook because I was looking forward to zipping along the Web. I know that Blackberry users have the ability to do amazing things with their phones connected to it, but I can't speak to that because I don't own one of their phones. RIM has promised an update in February to address the lack of native Email/Calendar apps, as well as possibly making the Android Market available on the PlayBook. However, I won't speak to that either because until I see it with my own eyes, I can't review what is not there. Do yourself a favor, go to a store, pick one up, hold it in your hands. Compare it to other tablets there. Then walk over to a cashier and hand them your $200 and go home with the best tablet money can buy.

Finally!! A worthy challenger to the iPad!
Posted .I've been using this for the past 12 hours straight with the Blackberry Bridge setup. My intent was solely to check how easy it was to accustom oneself to the tablet and whether I was hitting a balance between "sacrificing" features or hit the ground running using whats available. I'm an iPad 2 owner as well - so I knew that the expectations to be set are high though it still needed me to be reasonable. Results: Those complaining about lack of native email client - agree that its lacking - but you are free to use the killer web browser to check all your email (even MS Exchange). RIM has confirmed they'll launch native email clients within the month or next - and I'd be glad to wait. Emails on Bridge - The Playbook shows email from your BB in a relatively neat layout. Deleting / Replying / forwarding emails from the PB work like a charm. Ive been a BB user for 4 years...but my iPhone loving wife wishes her iPhone/iPad had the same capabilities as my BB/PB. Multitasking - the capability to "tile" your applications and have them all running (or paused - your choice) is very useful and truly a PC like feature that will be welcomed by many users. Gestures - you get used to them fairly quickly. True Story - I swiped across my iPad thinkin it'll kill an app and then went back to pressing the button to get it done. Oh wait - I need to press it twice and then launch multi-taskin to kill it. Where the iPad wins (for now) is that it has clearly made a head start that gives users an option to have many apps. But keep in mind that both Android and RIM are catchin up fast. (Remember - Apple had to play the catch up game a few years ago ... its cyclic) Speakers - LOUD. CLEAR. PERIOD. Display - 1080p HD - Clear videos, Clear pictures. Enuff said. Any bugs - yes - Bringin the PB back from sleep needs a bit of random swiping. The browser has crashed on me once in the past 12 hours. You can see the App World is being updated with new apps each day. I'm sure we'll have a good handful of apps by late July ( i.e. atleast 10-15 high quality apps that an individual would constantly use) Typing - I could actually crank out a few lines using the device in portrait mode. I used both my thumbs (BB Style) and the ONLY issue here is auto-correct. I'd guarantee a lot of ppl usin this to type emails once that's sorted. The size/weight ratio is just perfect Ive knocked off a star cos I need to be fair in helping other buyers know that this is still a new product and has some minor issues. As far as I'm concerned - its a keeper (wish I bought the 32GB instead of the 16GB though.lol.) Hope this helps someone out there.

An amazing business tool with 1080p/Flash!
Posted .At $199, I snapped-up every one of these I could get my hands on. Everyone in the Fam gets a Playbook this year, and so far, all but Junior (an apple fan-boy-supreme) are in LOVE wh our Playbooks. Yeah, the updates stink; yeah, they may never come. That said, all the things this tablet already does make this Tab a SOLID machine for $199! Can bridge to multiple blackberries at once, display full HD video, play flash, edit and create word, excel, and P Point files (!), add multiple email users to one tablet while never having to share data, or allowing ALL users to share data and even contacts via a central playbook at a conference. Walk away from the bridged phone, and POOF! the data wipes automatically until you are back within the selected range. Do THAT with your Apple... Long story short, I've told everyone I see for the last three weeks, and I'll say it again to anyone who bothered to read this far: I HAVE NOT USED MY WINDOWS LAPTOP SINCE I PICKED-UP MY PLAYBOOK. And that is about a highly as I can praise any device. TO be preferred over a platform I have used for two decades speaks volumes. Anyone who knocks the Playbook was probaly hoping for more "Play" and less "Book." At my job (large electronics firm), if you walk into a meeting with an iPad, you get laughed at. WHen I bust-out my Playbook, plug it into the 1080p projector, and ask my team to "turn-on their blackberry bridges," I can send the weekly Excel file to everyone's phone without even so much as an email. And they can save it to their own playbooks or push to Outlook, should they wish. Everyone in the meetings who does not have a Blackberry phone kinda drools at the Playbooks/Blackberry combo. But their nifty iPhones sure look cool in their backpacks. (Not allowed on our VPN with an iPad/Pod, but IT has approved the Playbook as "secure enough"...Go figure.) -Buy one. Buy a dozen for your team. The highest-end netbooks didn't even compare to this tablet. Not even close. Mr Moo.

Great Hardware and OS, waiting a few apps.
Posted .I have been using my PB for a week, and I love it. The form factor is perfect. I was worried it would be too small, not the case (and I have middle aged eyes). The screen is awesome. The navigation very intuitive. The OS is responsive and solid. Let's talk about the supposed negatives. No email client. First there are ways to get your email. The bridge works well enough, and I am on AT&T. Just because they don't support it, doesn't mean it won't work. I got the app from another source and it works perfectly on my AT&T Torch. The Bridge Browser is very slow, but I blame AT&T's horrible 3G network as much as anything else. It is really a farce in this area. Secondly, Outlook Web Access works perfectly as well. So I have two methods of getting my corporate email. Those of you who are real blackberry users will realize that the BES server only allows one device per user. Creating a solution for that is in my opinion is the reason for the delay in an email client. Apps, yes there is a lack of apps. That will change. I am not a big apps user, but there are 3 or 4 that I would like to see ported to the Playbook. As an early adopter, I am used to waiting for perfection. Battery Life, it is not all day if you are using the radios, but I have never reached 50% in my daily (intermittant) use. No 3G, this is a real complaint, but it doesn't affect me. Until the carriers allow you to pool data like they do minutes, I am using a MIFI (Verizon) due to having multiple devices. If I had a contract on each, it would cost hundreds of dollars per month, with the MIFI, $50. Finally, if you are a "Blackberry User", a "Power User", or a "Tech Nerd", you will probably like this device. If you are an Iphone user, a tech illiterate, or live for apps, it may not be for you.

You Will Love It!
Posted .Blackberry PlayBook Ultra portable - Ultra Powerful Weighting at 0.9lb & 7 screen size for all your milt-touching The back is rubberish materials really nice feel to it gives a good grip. Oh did i mention the 10hour battery life? Amazing! Dual HD Cameras Loving it! Front Cam 3mp & Back 5mp but can shoot 1080p video on both..Fantastic! Here is the best part for all Blackberry phone owners! You can bridge your phone with the playbook!! so you ask what that? Well, Basically you can view all your phone stuff on the 7 inch screen! (wait for it..) and also use the same data plan you have on your mobile to use it on the playbook bridge browser!! Yes that means as long as you connect it with your phone you can be online anywhere anytime.(no need to pay for another mobile data plan bill, aww Yeah!!) or You can use WiFi to browse all those site with flash! Yes, playbook supports websites with FLASH! (something ipad1 & 2 can't do an do not support) but their is a con to it, since the blackberry playbook is still kinda new to the tablet market, not much app is available yet for it. but still enough to play around for now as more app is being develop, but do not worry Blackberry is currently working with android to make android apps compatible on Playbook! How awesome is that!! Since playbook support flash you don't really even need the apps yet = use web apps) Video Chat: www.imo.im WORKS, although video chat is a little tricky to set up. Audio works great! Skpye,Msn,Aim,Yahoo Games! flash-games.net WORKS! armorgames.com WORKS! m.kongregage.com WORKS! You get the idea right?? I hope so... =) Happy Playbooking!!
