    Synopsis

Will Ferrell, Jon Heder, and Will Arnett headline this high-concept comedy concerning two male figure-skating rivals aching to compete despite having been banned from the sport. Their medals stripped after getting into a highly publicized fight at the World Championships, star figure skaters Chazz Michael Michaels (Ferrell) and Jimmy MacElroy (Heder) are barred from ever competing in the sport again. Upon discovering a loophole that will allow them to perform together in the pairs figure skating category, the two athletes determine to put their differences aside in order to pursue their gold medal aspirations. Amy Poehler, Jenna Fischer, Craig T. Nelson, and Rob Corddry co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi, Rovi

The story is about 2 male skaters that are extremely competitive. Their scores were tied and they both shared the Gold medal spot for a brief moment. They began fighting which resulted in their removal from the men's single ice skating competitions for the rest of their lives. After failing to achieve any sort of happiness with odd jobs (Ferrell ends up skating for a children's ice show and Heder ends up working for an ice skating shop)they agree to skate together in the couple's skating competitions. Ferrell plays an egotistical guy who seems to be very low on the IQ scale. Heder plays a soft, effeminate guy who has lived a very privileged life (until he gets kicked out of men's skating and his adoptive father disowns him). The two personalities clash to no end. My husband and I truly enjoyed this show. There are a lot of innuendos references made in the movie but it's used in a hilarious way. I wouldn't recommend younger children watching the movie simply because of the references.

If you're looking for a comedy to pass the time, you would be hard pressed to find anything better than this. Featuring classic Will Ferrell comedy, and great supporting turns from Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, and Nick Swardson, you couldn't find a better way to spend a rainy afternoon. The movie features one of the most hilarious sequences put to film, and strangley chill inducing, in which the team of Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell) and Jimmy McElroy (Jon Heder) perform their first duet together. Absolutely hilarious. Highly recommend to Will Ferrell aficionados and those who prefer their comedies dumb and full of fun.

Didn't care for the cinematography. Skating scenes look great, other scenes look dull. This was obviously intentional for some reason and it's not terrible by any means, the lighting is just kind of drab in the non skating scenes. Movie was great and this is the best it's going to look anytime soon (even with upcoming technology because the source material is the problem; you can't go back and change the way it was shot) so I would highly recommend this movie to comedy fans. It also gets better and better the more you watch it IMO. The audio is definitely above average for a comedy.

this is not gone with the wind, but it is not meant to take seriously. if you want just stupid fun where thinking is optional, this is a great movie. it needs to be watched with friends if you have not seen it before. and a beer or two wont hurt the atmosphere. it is perfect for the day you just don't want to think. it is probably a 2.5 / 3 star from a pure movie status but that is not the reason i watch it,

This is one funny movie! If you're a Will Ferrell fan, this dvd is a must! You get all kinds of hillarious bonus material. The best bonus stuff is the gag reel and the deleted scenes. It's great seeing how Chazz was an orphan too & that Mr. MacElroy was going to adopt him, until he spotted Jimmy ice skating. Another good part is seeing the other songs that Chazz sings while on the treadmill, besides "My Humps". Buy this dvd!!

Pretty standard Will Ferell slapstick comedy. Felt a lot like Talledega Nights on ice, with a lot of predictable shots taken at the sport of ice skating. All in all though I found myself laughing throughout most of the movie, and some of the one-liners are pretty priceless. It's definitely worth seeing once or twice but I don't think it's by any means a "classic" as far as comedies go.

This movie is very funny, I saw it twice at the movies. I recommend this movie to everyone that whats to have fun and laugh alot. The actors are very outstanding in their role on the movie. I loved it. And like it said on the front cover is "hilarious". In other words is fair enough to buy the movie and share with the family on you free time.

Ferrell makes the movie. Two male skaters competing in pairs? You have to give the writers an "A" for effort. Strength of the story is Ferrell's character and the interplay between he and Heder. Slapstick? Yes. Enjoyable? Yes. Raymond Carver it ain't but if you want to disengage and just laugh then I'd recommend this highly.
