Kid Drops His Rock And Is Now Kid Country

Total country from the first to the last track. And ssssslow country at that. This is so far away from the streets of Detroit... I'd swear this was recorded in a corn field somewhere close to Nashville. No need to buy the clean version, oh, there's only one version. And Kid Rock criticized Steven Tyler for going on "Idol." After listening to this release, Mr. Tyler's probably laughing so hard thinking Kid Rock's been nothing but all hype. It's one thing if a hard rocker does a blues album with scorching guitar work but a rocker going total country without one up tempo country song on it, unless one thinks the song Born Free is up tempo... well, I don't think so. If this is the direction he's going, which hints of that was on his last release, then his career may wind up being far shorter than Mr. Tyler's.

    Disappointed

Big change from anything else Kid Rock has ever done. Way too country and blues for my taste. I have been a huge Kid Rock fan for many years and find this work disappointing. I prefer every album prior to this one. It is no where near as good as Devil or Cocky. I get that he is trying something new, but it just doesn't work for me. It doesn't deserve the Kid Rock name. Hopefully he goes back to Twisted Brown Trucker on the next one and losses Rick Rubin.

This was a gift for a friend... After a listen even he decided he didn't want it and gave it back. Kid Rock is the worst. It's like he has some sort of ignorant and in your face identity crisis yet somehow boasts about it. Each song is pretty much that same way, and don't get me started on when he's ripping off Warren Zevon then apologizing to Skynyrd. Jerk.

With this CD, Kid Rock has gotten away from his sweet spot. I listened to the CD once & will probably never play it again. He is trying way too hard here. His past CD's were all great...he should not have gone away from that. And by the way, I love country and rock.and rap, etc., no genre bias here. I just want to here good, pure, honest songs and they are not on this release.

If you want good new American Southern Rock at its finest this is a good cd for you. Born free is a great anthem to remind us how lucky we are to live in the United States. I love when our Rock Stars grow up and care about other things than just s_x, dr__s and rock n roll. Don't get me wrong it has it's place and time but I'm getting older too! Lol

I also listened to the whole album on Kid's facebook and it is awesome! He went a total different route with this album leaving his twisted brown trucker band behind. It's a little country and rock but the cd takes on a total different feel from his previous work. So go out and support this album you won't be dissapointed!

One of the best by Kid Rock. I really enjoyed this cd and when I first got it, I listened to the entire thing 3 times in a row. One of my favorite tracks is Purple Sky and another is the title track Born Free. I think if you are not familiar with Kid Rock, this cd could make you a fan.
