Worst washer ever (see photos)
|Posted .This device is trash. I purchased it because I felt a better brand would be a better product. The machine simply cannot wash dishes thoroughly. I have tried different detergents, pre-cleaned and even put in almost fully washed dishes to see if it would make a difference. The machine simply cannot wash dishes. Please see the photos attached after washing for a 2 hour cycle. Please save your money. I have more photos but I can only upload 2.

Nice upgrade

Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5Pros mentioned:Dishes, RacksI bought this from the Best Buy Outlet. It was delivered when promised but came without several pieces even though we were told it came with everything that would be needed. We also ordered the installation kit, but it was also missing needed pieces. We called Bosch, and they sent what we needed very quickly. They were easy to deal with and polite. When we viewed it in-store, there were no dents or scratches on it, but it was delivered with a scratch/dent on the front. The dent is located on the right side (see picture). The washer works great and was a much needed upgrade. The interior is versatile so it will fit any type of dish. There was also a surprise third rack that is an added bonus.

Bosch d/w is life affirming!
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Quiet, RacksQuiet. Hard working. Reliable. My wife would marry this d/w if it were human. You need the full 34 inches floor to counter for easy install, not usually a problem. The third rack on top is very useful; less bending over, etc.

Quiet but awful overall
Posted .Pros mentioned:QuietCons mentioned:Dry cycleI am so disappointed in this dishwasher I can hardly stand it. I don’t understand the good reviews. There are so many things I deem wrong with it, I can say only three good things. I got the black front, which is so much better than the stainless steel. It always looks good. But looks aren’t everything. The other good thing is the quietness, but ONLY if you use the ridiculous 2.36 HOUR setting! How does that save money? The faster setting is still over an hour, and it is not quiet. The only other good thing is the 1-24 hour delay setting. But that’s it. Otherwise, all the ridiculously bad. It will NOT dry your dishes on the second or third heights. It will NOT dry anything plastic, including their own plastic silverware holder. You take that out after the cycle is finished, and it drips everywhere. That means the bottoms of your silverware is also wet. And I mean wet. All of my plastic storage containers are soaking wet. If you want any type of drying, you have to open the door after the cycle is finished and leave it open for HOURS! Who wants that? The repairman I had come out to show me what might be wrong showed me to put a dishtowel in the door to keep it open for as long as possible to get the condensation out. The next bad thing is the spaces to place your dishes in are either too close or bent. That means your bowls in particular fall forward onto each other. They will not stack properly. If I had known all of this, I would have never bought this machine! The salesman who was at Best Buy was not helpful when looking at these choices. I had to ask questions, but was never shown what I needed to know. If he had been honest, and shown me the pros and cons, I would have bought the Kitchen Aid, which happened to be less expensive. It has a much better design and only 2 decibels louder. And then there is this weird odor that came that way, and has never disappeared. Can’t describe it. No, not food in the filter you have to clean yourself (another con—my old one had a disposal connection and did away with any food by itself. No, it is a metal smell or something like that). So now, I cannot wash my plastic storage containers in it. Waste of time, since I have to hand dry every single one. If I buy glass storage containers, they are heavy and can break. Why should I have a way less better dishwasher than the Whirlpool I had previously, which dried everything? And this demand that you MUST use Finish rinse aid? It smells awful to me, and if I use hot soup in one of my hard plastic bowls, I can taste the rinse aid! Who wants to eat rinse aid? So I now use plain vinegar as a rinse aid. That works. Oh yes, and just try opening the rinse aid door. I dare you to do it without using a knife to pry it open! Break a finger anyone? Would I recommend this to anyone? Heck, NO! If anyone wants to buy it from me, let me know. I will sell it cheap.

Very quiet dishwasher
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Dishes, Quiet, RacksCons mentioned:Draining, NoiseI would recommend this to a friendThis Bosch replaced our 21 year old noisy dishwasher. It is so quiet. I do mean quiet! “Is it on?” we wondered the first time we turned it on. It is quieter than a whisper. The only time there is any noticeable noise is when the dirty water drains out. I simply put the sink strainer in the sink drain to close it up as if I was going to fill the kitchen sink with water. With the strainer in place we have to listen carefully to know if the dishwasher is on. It has a short 60 minute cycle, handy when dishes aren’t very dirty. The longer “auto” cycle, the default cycle, requires well over two hours. I was surprised by this length of time but since I cannot hear it there is not a problem. There are other cycles but these two along with a rinse cycle is all we will probably use. I had read reviews about how wet the dishes are at the end of the cycle. Yes, they are wet. There is no electric heating element in the bottom which was a little different from other machines I have had before. Not a problem since we seldom used the drying cycle in our old machine anyway. We open the door, pull out the racks, and let the hot dishes air dry to save electricity. This is what we do with this Bosch, since the dishes are hot they dry quickly. If any water accumulates in the depressions on the bottoms of cups and glasses a quick dab with a dishtowel remedies that. Plus I don’t have to worry about melting anything that is in the bottom rack. I especially like the third rack at the top. It is great for those little lids, sharp knives, spatulas, and shallow bowls that would usually fall through the racks. A pizza pan would probably fit easily since it is flat. The third rack has special grooves that silverware can be arranged in but I prefer to use the silverware basket. I chose this model with the recessed handle because I didn’t want the controls on the top edge where they would be hidden from view as it operated and where they may be subjected to spills. I wanted to see the dishwasher’s progress and the recessed handle allows for that. It doesn’t tell you each cycle but it does tell you how many minutes are left until it is finished. I also chose not to have the model with the towel bar handle because if a towel is hanging from it the towel would lay on the floor when the door was opened, and again. the controls wouldn’t be where I wanted them. The silverware basket is much larger than my previous machine and removable if more space is needed for pots and pans. There are extra tines in the racks that can be raised or lowered as needed to accommodate nearly any shaped dish or pan. I chose the white exterior finish. I considered the stainless steel exterior but wondered if water dribbles would show. The detergent cup easily holds a Finish tablet, my favorite brand. I am very pleased with this quiet dishwasher.

Cleans great, horrible drying
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Wash cyclesI am SO disappointed as I was tired of my old dishwasher not drying the dishes so after quite a bit of research and reading reviews, I purchased this BOSCH as it was highly rated. EXPENSIVE too! We were so excited to get it THEN we used it! The wash was fabulous but every single item in the dishwasher had to be dried by hand. The walls, door and bottom were covered in water. And YES we used JetDry. After trying a second time and still having to dry the dishes, we are returning it! According to BOSCH headquarters, you have to OPEN the dishwasher as soon as it is done to keep moisture from landing on the dishes. What we saw was more than just moisture. It looked like someone sprayed a hose inside. Best Buy Geek Squad came out and found no noticeable issue to cause such water inside. Bye Bye BOSCH

LOVE this dishwasher!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Racks, Wash cyclesCons mentioned:Dry cycle, Noise, UtensilsThis is the best dishwasher we have owned. I think we've had 5 others before this. I love the third rack. We toss all the silverware and knives, anything flat, on top, and that leaves the bottom rack totally open for plates and large items. We have thin plates (corelle) and can probably fit 25 dinner plates on the bottom rack. The tines are too close together for thicker plates, but I love them. Bosch dishwashers do not have dry cycle, but they do super heat the rinse water so that things are hot when the cycle is done. As long as you open the dishwasher when the cycle ends, the dishes will dry very quickly. Please be aware that this super heated water can melt some plastics. I don't use much plastic stuff so this doesn't bother me. The items it has melted are things that probably shouldn't have been in the dishwasher anyway (a gravity cat waterer, a travel shampoo bottle, and plastic voss water bottles) The display tells you when you need to add rinse aid, so this makes me use it religiously. The cycles are shorter when you use rinse aid. The display tells you how long each cycle is and how long remains. It has a pleasant beep sound when it's done. It repeats a couple of times. Unfortunately the beep on my dishwasher sounds just like the beep on the refrigerator when the door is left open.

Q: QuestionDoes this have heated dry? A review here and another site mentions no heat dry, and that just surprises me for a dishwasher at this price point. We've never used Bosch before so I'm not sure if this is a Bosch thing?
Asked by leftcoaster.
- A:Answer It seems to be a European dishwasher option - no heating element for drying. It does have “extra dry” option which I’ve used - the water is very hot and I found everything dry when done. I have not tried a cycle without the extra dry option.

Q: QuestionI am so torn between this Bosch model and a highly rated Kitchenaid model—I would like to hear from other Bosch owners how satisfied or dissatisfied they are with this unit. Thanks to all!
Asked by Fritz.
- A:Answer Don’t know the Kitchenaid except that we had an old 25 year old model that ran forever with no maintenance. But we decided on the Bosch because of the high ratings and we love it! So quiet, lots of loading options, love the 3rd rack on top for,odd utensils, etc. Also lots of cycle options for our family of 2 that doesn’t make a lot of dishes.

Q: QuestionDoes this have a hard food disposer? If not, is it a self cleaning filter or a manual one? Thank you.
Asked by Cate.
- A:Answer There is a manual filter that you can easily access and empty. I especially wanted this, because I had to spend so much time and effort and would end up in pain with my old dishwasher. You would think that an "automatic" food grinding system would be ideal, but on our old highly-rated when bought KitchenAid dishwasher, I had to get down on the floor and contort and strain myself to dismantle the thing to clean it out. It was very difficult and required a great deal of hand/arm strength to take apart to get to the food grinding mechanism. Every so often a piece of plastic or crab shell or pistachio nut shell would get lodged in the food grinding system and clog it so that no food bits would get disposed, resulting in crud all over the dishes. I don't know how common this is, but I much prefer a system that is manual and easy to use. This machine has a 2-stage filter that just lifts out. I just cleaned it after 2 months of daily use and found a twister seal in the first compartment and food and debris in the second. Easily (and painlessly!) removed, rinsed with hot water, and replaced in two minutes.

Q: QuestionIs the top (3rd) try designed for silverware (slats specifically for silverware) like I've seen in other Bosch dishwashers?
Asked by Sunshine29.
- A:Answer Yes, the third tray has slots where silverware can be lined up for washing. You can put shallow things or odd pieces like lids, spatulas.

Q: QuestionDo any of the Bosch dishwashers have smudge resistant stainless steel? The Bosch refrigerator I would like to purchase is smudge resistant stainless steel.
Asked by Winnie.
- A:Answer Hi there. Thank you for your question. This dishwasher is not finger print resistant. There may be minimal finger prints that would require cleaning.

Q: Questionhow is the 300 series different from the 800 series
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The 800 series can feature hidden controls with touch sensitive buttons, water softeners, smartphone connectivity, and the MyWay 3rd rack. Both models feature the same wash system and height adjustment for the top rack.

Q: QuestionDoes this Dishwasher come with a power cord? If no, does it take a special plug, or will the cord that comes with your installation kit work?
Asked by JustAsking.
- A:Answer It comes with a power cord that plugs into the dishwasher itself, but instead of a wall plug, it has a junction box they expect you to provide either direct electrical connection or wire your own plug into it.

Q: Questionwhat does the (App-Controlled Yes) mean? Is there an app you can use for smartphone control? If so what features can you use in the app?
Asked by TechguyGA.
This question was asked about the related product: Bosch - 800 Series 24" Recessed Handle Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub - Black- A:Answer We have the 800 Series with the recessed handle and front controls, and it is NOT app-controlled. My guess is that's only for the version with the controls on the top of the door where you can't see them while the dishwasher is closed and running.
