  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: false (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)
    • Operating Sound Level: 42 decibels adjusted (Today's appliances are pretty quiet. To get a sense for how quiet you'll need, think about having a conversation in the same room. Q: is the dishwasher usable without the custom panel? Not sure how long it is going to take cabinet maker

A: It absolutely is usable, however difficult to open & close if fully mounted in without the front panel providing a handle. If you need to use it before completed better to have it sit a little forward and out from under cabinet. Also, the door is designed for the weight of the cabinet to counter the resistance, so without it, the door will want to pull up and close WAY more aggressively than normal. Also, for the fit to work proper we had to remake cabinet plate to 29x23 3/4.

Q: Where can I get a copy of the instructions to install the custom panel, before buying this and finding it is more trouble than anticipated?

A: Hi Anteek. Thank you for your question. Here is the link to installation instructions for Model #SHVM78Z53N Custom Panel Dishwasher. https://media3.bosch-home.com/Documents/9000825021_C.pdf

Q: do i need a panel kit to install the cabinet panel

A: There is a kit to attach the panel but you need the panel. You can go to your cabinet maker or Lowes or Home Depot to get the panel too. I go mine there but that said the panel is another 150 to 1000 so i think you are better off getting the stainless panel. If i was to do it again i would. Don't get me wrong i love the look of the one with the cabinet but i am not sure its worth the expense and time. The goo thing is if you ever have to replace the dishwasher you can reuse the panel in most cases.

Q: I know the panel is not included, but is the handle in the displayed picture included?

A: Of course not! You supply your own cabinet hardware.

Q: I currently have a Maytag/Ikea dishwasher I am replacing that already has a cabinet face on it. Can I use the same one on this dishwasher?

A: Measure the cabinet face you have. Then consult the specs for the NEW dishwasher "Panel size" to see if they match. I have had 3 "panel ready" dishwashers in my kitchen and no problem switching the panel from the old on to the new one. The only caveat is that the panel needs to be well-made.

Q: Getting a panel made. What should be the exact dimensions? Thank you!

A: The specs for the new dishwasher will tell you the size. It is probably a standard size for compatibility between brands. My best advice is to have the panel made by an experienced cabinetmaker to match your existing cabinetry. If you are a skilled woodworker, you might do it yourself but otherwise let a pro do it. If done right, you will love the look.

Q: how long to receive this item if ordered today ? zip code 96768

A: Hi HOWIE, thank your for your question and interest in Model:SHVM78Z53N. Please reach out to your local Best Buy Location to inquire about the availability for this model in your area.

Q: Can I use a flat plain modern panel? Do I drill my own holes for handle? Pictured is a small handle. Can I use a wider handle instead?

A: A panel ready dishwasher allows you to make the exterior of the dishwasher to your taste.I suggest that you have the panel made to match the kitchen cabinetry, including the handle, so that it will blend in. Any competent cabinetmaker can do the job for you. If you make it yourself, be a perfectionist. The panel can be moved to a new dishwasher when you replace the current one.
