The Acoustimass 5 Series V stereo speaker system delivers spacious stereo performance and is a popular choice for larger rooms. The two small Direct/Reflecting Series II speakers have been redesigned with a slimmer profile. The Acoustimass module provides the deep low notes - and it can be hidden out of sight behind a couch or curtain. Pair the speakers with your choice of receiver, and you'll experience consistent, quality performance. The system includes cables and connectors that are clearly marked for easy installation and setup. Compatible with receivers or amplifiers rated from 4 – 8 ohm.
A: This has a non powered subwoofer so it is an “inline” wired device. Speaker wires go from the receiver to the sub and attach with spring clips. Then a second set of wires goes from the sub to the cubes.
Q: Can you connect a sound bar to this system for more quality and better sound?
A: No, this isn't possible.
A: No. The 3-2-1 systems use proprietary cabling, connections and 3-2-1 specific speakers for their systems. Bose no longer supports these systems with either software or hardware. Best bet is going to be search eBay as you can find them there as well as 3rd party custom made replacements, that was what I had to do to find a replacement speaker cable. FWIW, Bose does still have the 3·2·1 FM antenna and power cables in stock....
Q: do you have to bye batteries for the wireless Acoustimass ?
A: Great question, no you do not need batteries for this speaker set.
A: technically yes, but you would want to also add a center channel for your vocals. Technically you can build out a 4.1 channel system, but not arr receivers support that. Also, I personally would recommend using this kit for your rears rather than your fronts. The size of the speakers lend themselves t that application. Another recommendation though would be to purchase the acoustimass 10 that comes with the full 5.1 setup. This would be cheaper overall. adding 3 speakers will easily push you over the $1,000 price point unless you go with super cheap stuff from Polk or Sony. Realistically, you want all your speakers performing at the same level if possible.
Q: do I need some sort of amplifier? or can I connect this to my computer without one?
A: This requires an amplifier
A: Definitely. Shouldn't be a problem with any modern receiver. One set as front main, the other as surround. Run them through the sub like normal. Keep each sub close to the set of speakers it's wired with. So one sub in front, one in back. Make sure both sets are set to large/full range on receiver.
