Well worth the money!
I’ve been playing guitar professionally for over 20 years. During that time I never really used delay all that often since I was more interested in playing straight ahead rock and roll. If I needed delay I used the Boss PS-3 Pitch Shifter/Delay pedal that I’ve had since the mid ‘90’s. However, I’ve recently started playing more music that had very specific syncopated delay requirements. I researched delay pedals for a few months and finally decided on the Boss DD-20 Giga Delay. Normally I would purchase gear from a dedicated music store, however I had store credit with Best Buy so I purchased it here.
Now to the actual pedal. I must say that I’m very happy with the pedal. It’s durable, sounds great and meets all my requirements:
1. The delay tail must continue after I turn the effect off.
2. Tap Tempo
3. The ability to select different sub-divisions of the beat (dotted 1/8th note, quarter note, etc.)
4. Analog delay sounds
6. The ability to store different effects
Overall I’m extremely happy with this purchase. Some of the extra modes like “Twist” and “Warp” are very cool when looking to create noisy intros and outros in songs.
There are a few minor issues that are worth mentioning though.
1. The pedal uses AA batteries (which is unusual, most use 9v)
2. The power adaptor is not included
3. The modulated delay sounds are not as lush as the Line 6 DL4
4. Not quite as easy to tweak on the fly as other pedals
I must say that this pedal is well worth your consideration. It meets all my needs and then some. The minor annoyances are just that. Minor. Unless you need extreme “tweakability” in your live shows you will be more than pleased with your purchase!
