These speakers sound awesome but I have found them to be a little limited on the low end but the mids and highs are beautiful. I listen to a lot of rock and acoustic music and am finding I can hear instruments in songs that I had never heard before. The sound is very clear and crisp. I did add 2 SVS SB1000 subs that are set very quietly to add more low depth. I find I need this when listening to my more heavy rock albums. My hunch would be that these are not needed with acoustic, jazz or classical. The speakers are hooked up to a Marantz PM7000N with 2 subs as well. My listening is pretty evenly split between phono and streaming. These speakers are used for an audio only setup and no television.

I initially purchased a pair of B&W 684 S2, which were quite all right but did not exceed my expectations. Decided to do a lot more research and the outstanding staff at the service department of Best Buy allowed me to replace them with these wonderful speakers. Significant difference in mid and high response, improved bass, clarity, and separation. I think those Brits know what they're doing. I am using a McIntosh MAC6700 receiver to drive these speakers, with the lower end handled by a Velodyne SPL-2 10" sub. I understand the recommendation to 'break them in' for 70 hours before each one performs to its fullest potential. Nonetheless, the sound is amazing right out of the box. I very highly recommend these puppies. You will not be disappointed.
