CWM8.3 D is a three-way in-wall loudspeaker, conceived to offer the very best performance for a customer requiring great sound without seeing the source. Performance is equivalent to the 804 D4 in-room speaker from the 800 Series Diamond. Its 1-inch tweeter, 5-inch midrange driver and two 7-inch bass drivers deliver clear, dynamic sound, and the stiff yet light construction ensures distortion-free sound. This Bowers & Wilkins in-wall speaker can be used either horizontally or vertically for versatile placement. Use of BB8.3W Back Box is mandatory. Fully Matrix braced, for extra rigidity and improved performance the back boxes feature bi-wireable cables that connect to the baffle electronically with a multi-pin connector. • 1" Diamond tweeter: Prized in highly specialised industrial applications, the unique properties of diamond make for a near-perfect tweeter material. Our diamond domes are grown like crystals in super-heated furnaces under laboratory conditions before being cut to produce our tweeter domes.
• Continuum Cone Midrange: Continnum is a woven composite that blends control with flexibility. The result is breathtaking clarity. Hear voices, guitars and bass instruments with precision and transparency.
• Aerofoil Bass: Advanced computer modeling, carbon fiber and a syntactic core are used to produce a cone with maximum stiffness where it’s needed most. This optimised shape means the cone displays pistonic behaviour further up the audible range, producing precise, controlled and utterly lifelike bass.
• Rotatable Baffle: The aluminum central baffle containing the tweeter and midrange is rotatable 90 degrees, so it can be used in either vertical or horizontal alignment. Use horizontally behind a perforated projection screen or vertically below your tv.
• Matrix Back Box: Traditional In-wall and In-ceiling speakers use your wall construction as part of the speaker cabinet. This introduces unwanted resonance and rattles to the sound of the speaker.
