Not just any old song and dance
||Posted .This is my third copy, as I've managed to wear them out. As a big Cyd Charisse fan, far as I'm concerned, whatever she's in has got to be marvelous and believe me, Brigadoon fills that bill. The DVD jacket calls it “Lerner and Loewe's magical musical romance,” but what it doesn't mention is the sheer dumb luck of being in the right place at the right time. Two big city boys went to Scotland to hunt grouse, but those lucky birds were safe from them. Brigadoon, a historically inaccurate, but charming little village in the Scottish highlands was the setting for the main romance, another that was doomed from the start and a classical one sided romance that could end Brigadoon forever, but once again, sheer dumb luck (hic) played a big part. When Tommy and Fiona (Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse) kind of sort of met near the beginning, he asked why Brigadoon wasn't on the map, she replied, “fer good reason!” Ah could tell ye, but ah dinna want to ruin it fer ye. The vast majority of the show takes place in the Scottish highlands, with the minor exception of a short time in New York City, where Tommy has to make a command decision.

Good.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This is a good sentimental movie with several nice tunes. The picture quality is good, although I wish there had been a bit less video noise in some scenes.

Timeless (no pun intended) classic
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Great story, music and dance, offset by Van Johnson’s dry sense of humor and great delivery.
