When I first bought the printer, the sales associate encouraged me to buy an extra black cartridge. I allowed him to pick it out for me. The cartridge that came with the printer lasted just over 6 months. I went to install my replacement cartridge and it would not fit. I realized quickly the guy at the store gave me the wrong cartridge. I called the store and they would not replace the cartridge because it was open and it had been over 6 months. I lost money and had to go buy another cartridge. Word to the wise.... Never trust the sales associate who is supposed to know what he is doing. I do like my printer and the new cartridge was easy to install.

Brother Ink is a racket, the LC201/LC203 after market cartridges don't work, only the Brother LC201/LC203 cartridges with the chips will work in these machines..the machines won't recognize the after market cartridges at all. So we're stuck. Best Buy, using the "My Best Buy" rewards program is the best deal I've found. The cartridges are around $3 less per versus Office Depot, Amazon, Staples, Target, Wal-Mart etc....and the rewards points eventually add up. So that's what I do.....often because we print a lot.

I bought the printer because Brother had lowest ink cost. I never had a brother prior always lexmark. Brother is just as good if not better. I will not buy Lexmark again because i bought refills and it said not compatible cartridge, so i bought the exact new one that it took same problem. They forced a software download that looks for only lexmark cartrige aparently, so i had to throw away a good printer because no way to undue their update. What ever lexmark never again!

I must be out of my mind for getting an inkjet pritner for business use, but it was the surprise Santa left me under the tree last Christmas. Thanks to these ink cartridges, however, the expense has been surprisingly low while meeting all my business needs. When you work in sales, you print lots of contracts, and now my documents are prime condition and in color, further impressing my customers, thanks to this model cartridge and its sister yellow, cyan, and magenta ones.

Roughly 100 pages will be able to print from one cartridge. Depending on how much is on said printed page. With what I print, it varies from basic Word docs to email coupons. I would, however, urge you to buy it online instead of in the store. At my local one, it's roughly $3 more expensive compared to buying online. Don't know if it's the same for everyone, but I'd rather buy online and ship to myself.

I don't know if it's just my personal observations, but it seems like I get fewer and fewer pieces of paper through before I have to replace my ink cartridges. If it were the black cartridge, I might understand, but I just don't seem to be getting all of the 'pages' that are advertised with this ink. Pictures are crisp though, and print quickly through my brother printer, just wish I didn't have to return so often to replace them.

the convenience of having a home copier/printer is worth the money to me, but it does require the annoying repetitive purchase of ink cartridges. The printers have come down in price, it's the ink cartridges that cost. We keep the printing to only "necessary" as these cartridge do not last long. I tried to buy a "universal" cartridge, but it did not fit, so I stick with the recommended one..

I like the safety feature that keeps the ink from spilling. Easy to install in the printer but the removal of the cartridges is a challenge for "longer fingernails". (Just get someone else to change it and I won't worry about chipping a nail). Could be cheaper or give FREE ink on every 3rd purchase? Overall a good ink, dries a little slow on glossy photo paper but the colors are rich.
