Best Bang for Your BuckPosted .
I've had this machine for almost 5 years. A gear finally broke in it a couple of months ago and it costs $100.00 to fix. Almost cheaper to buy a new one, but it has been like "ol' reliable" and it just wasn't ready to be put out to pasture. Bear in mind that I had NEVER even had it serviced before it broke. Now it's back to sewing like brand new! I've made several really big quilts on this machine and have made some Rag Quilts which require the machine sew through 6 layers of fabric and batting. This machine never balked at the task. She's my old friend now. Also comes with several built-in stitches. I made a really cute crazy quilt using the built in embroidery stitches. For the money, you can't beat it. Super easy to thread. Built in needle threader works every time. Extremely light weight, which can be a problem if you're working on a heavy quilt. Kind of noisy. Bobbin couldn't handle Nylon filament thread (invisible thread) without making a tangled mess on the back of the fabric. Sometimes I get a "birds nest" on the bobbin side of the fabric at the beginning of my stitching even with regular thread. Don't know what causes that, but maybe it's the type of thread (cheap) I use or ??? and not the machine at all. Overall a great beginner's or intermediate machine.I would recommend this to a friend
