Great Scanner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two larger scanners used for big projects. Problem is everyday I don't have a large project. But everyday I have a few things to scan in the course of my day. I used to pile up documents to scan once a week but it just wasn't getting it. So I go to Best Buy and pick-up this scanner for use on the go and when I travel. This Brother scanner is great! I'm now able to scan documents on the go. No longer do have have a bin labeled to scan. My productivity has increased and now instead of needing to find a document from a customer it's already on my computer or iPad. I've used this scanner to scan over a seven hundred documents in 6 weeks and it works great. I use Adobe Acobat Professional and it works pretty good with the latest version but once there was a software glitch after 200 scans that day. So I go to my older version of Adobe Acrobat Professional with this scanner and there is no problems for the rest of that day. I'm back to using the latest version and there are no troubles but I haven't scanned that many documents in one day since. The scanner has a USB port and all the bells and whistles needed to do different types of work when needed. Glad I purchased this product.

Too much for so little
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I entered the market for one of these scanners after I realized that 90% of the papers in my office did not need to be originals and remain in a file cabinet. so I said what are my options? I was gunna just scan them and upload it to my computer using my printer but then I realized that it would take me weeks to edit each digital document and have them all stored and organized into a digital file...then It hit me, I remembered commercials for the "neat" It was a scanner with a dedicated purpose to de clutter your desk. which was exactly what I needed! it advertised as the businessman's best friend and it was portable unlike a traditional printer/flat bed scanner. but that came out years ago and it was very outdated compared to todays standards. so where does that leave us? well wouldn't you know a whole bunch of recognizable brands decided to come up with their own version. after reviewing all the ones they had on display I was down to 3 models. the Epson ff640 which was almost 600 bucks. the fujitsu for almost 500 bucks or the brother for almost 400 bucks. and I thought why are they so expensive? and I realized the machine was worthless. what your paying for is the name, the software and the portability. so I dug a little deeper and found that brother had made a smaller version for 300 bucks. So I said that was pretty reasonable. picked "the last one on the shelf" from my local bb and brought it home. a month later and guess where it is...back in the store lol. yep it was nice but brother had to make up the cost somewhere. they dumbed down the software and once you run all your documents through the feeder you still have to use the program they give you to re edit and name each one. which is what I was trying to avoid the whole time. it was a waste and my mistake is I already shredded every document. so thanks brother. save yourself the time and just buy a neat desk for 200 if you can deal with the out dated firmware or shell out the extra bucks and go for brothers flagship at least its not as bad as the other 2. oh and don't bother buying those handheld junk. unless ur only scanning one paper a month its stupid.

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wireless installation was easy, within 20 minutes (I have moderate computer skills). I had to download the corresponding product software for my laptop from the Brother website. I believe this scanner is easy & intuitive to anyone with moderate, even basic, computer skills. Bought it when I saw myself in a pickle when my research project required me to scan 300+ surveys. I love the duplex (double-sided) feature. And because it's lightweight and portable, I will definitely be taking and using it at work, too. Asked for a price adjustment at Best Buy since their website had it for $50 less than at the store. I've had it for a little over 2 months and am happy with my purchase.

Great Scanner For The Money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I buy a lot of document scanners for my company, but this one is nice and small and does not take up a lot of room like its bigger but faster siblings. Honestly, unless you are doing TONS of scanning like a whole file folder worth of document at once, the speed sacrifice doesnt seem so bad during every day use. I like the fact that its wireless capable so that I can move it around between two places.

Scanner works very well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The software for organizing folders (where you can put receipts into specific categories you determine) is very limited. Hard to organize items. You must self-learn through experimentation how to set categories, re-organize them if you chose and add/delete non appropriate vendors, categories for a specific folder. Also, the reports format is not changeable. They come pre-set with large data about the user and you cannot add or change fields in specific reports. For me this was a very big disappointment. As to the machine itself, I really like it...again my main disappointment is with the software. I called Brother Support and was told that part of their software package (OCR) comes from a different vendor and if I needed help I would have to go to them. For a casual user and one who is not needing detailed and customizable reports...this is a very nice unit. Otherwise, I would find it hard to recommend to others.

Easy to use.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to setup and use. Scans great with good color. Originally bought a IRIscan which ended up being a paperweight. We cold never get the software to work properly. My only complaint is that we scanned one sided documents and the scanner is a two sided scanner so it inserted a blank page into the pdf file. I would assume there is a setting that can change this but so far I have not found it.

Home office scanner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's very small, taking up very little desktop space, and seems to perform very well thus far. The included software leaves a lot to be desired so take that with a grain of salt. It is not moved around my office but, because it's on my home network, I can scan from any computer at home without having to move it. This is a plus as the settings aren't retained if you turn it off or unplug it.

Q: QuestionCan I buy a printer that may NOT need a computer connection?
Asked by jimkatep.
- A:Answer I'm not sure if your question was regarding this scanner, sense you mentioned "printer" in your question. But just to be clear this item is a scanner only no printing capability. That being said it does have the ability to scan to a USB dive without needing a connection to computer directly. Hope this answers helps with your possible purchase.

Q: QuestionCould this model scan photos effectively? I need one that will handle documents and photos. I have lots of old ones that I want to preserve.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Not going to give you a perfect picture image. Probably want to check out a flatbed scanner for photos or a scanner designed for scanning. I attached a couple of photos. One is a postcard (heavy paper) the other obviously a print from Disneyland. Hope that helps

Q: QuestionI need a scanner with Twain driver.Scanner for a medical record and needs it. I don't know what is it.
Asked by Manuel.
- A:Answer TWAIN compliant means that any program that wants to use your scanner will attempt to do so via the TWAIN driver. Most, if not all scanners, will list if they support this in their specifications. The software you're using for medical records most likely expects/requires a scanner that supports this driver. The ADS-1500W from Brother is TWAIN Compliant as referenced on their website specifications.
