sometimes it's black and white
||Posted .the easy to install black ink cartridge is the only model i have found compatible with the brother printer, an older one at that, requiring LC51 - not easy to find. while on the pricey side, the rarity of it warrants paying the cost. the print comes out sharp, but black does go quicker than the other colors, so buy the big one.

||Posted .Good product. Dark black ink. It claims to print 500 pages but it didn't. Perhaps that's just text pages, but how many home users only print out text pages?? I got about 250 pages. I usually buy the OEM ink cartridges online for a fraction of the cost but I was in a pickle and ran to Best Buy for a single cartridge. Happy Best Buy had the cartridge in stock in the store but annoyed at the high price for convenience.

- A:Answer No, printers that use LC51 ink are not compatible with other ink cartridges. Even knock-offs that claim compatibility will usually not work. LC51 printers tested early versions of proprietary locks, so they will only work with Brother LC51 inks.
