Great product for black and white copying!
||Posted .This printer is for black and white printing only! Thus, there is no cost for replacing color cartridges even if you are only using black and white (some machines use the color ink to maintain the heads even when it's not in use, which can be costly). It does copy black and white text very well, and it is very fast. It scans nicely too even on pink receipt! It does not copy photos well (it's not made for that) nor, for example, a license, on which the paper has a background. It comes out very dark. You can play with the settings but it's just not made for that kind of copying! I would recc it for black and white though. I did an online price match and got a really good price for this item! I am not sure if it has all the features in the list below tho as I only do black and white printing and scanning. The ink cartridges don't seem so costly either. We are still on the starter one and have printed quite a bit with it.

Love the printer
||Posted .I have used Brother printers exclusively since 2006 and I'll never own another brand. They have always been excellent. This model is another fine representation of their quality and engineering efforts. The software, not so much. The disk that came with the computer would like not work on my Mac because I have a newer operating system than it is designed. This is a common so I went to their website to download it. That still didn't work out well. I'm not sure if it due to my lack of IT intelligence or if it's something on Brother's side The website could be better and more helpful in providing instructions on how to download, install, and use.

Excellent Black White Printer
||Posted .I have had this Brother Black/White Laser Printer for about a month. I love it! My old Kodak ESP 2170 used color ink even when trying to print only in black. It got very expensive to use. Also if the color cartridge ran out -you were out of luck because you couldn't just use the black cartridge. When printing in black it always turned out more purple. We looked around to find something that could scan and print black only and found this one. This one actually prints black. Crisp, clear, black. Perfect for what I needed. I can still scan documents to the computer and if I need something in color printed (very rare), I will email it to my sister in law who can do that for me.

Great product, especially for the price.
||Posted .I had been looking for a quality laser printer for a few months. My daughter is a junior in college and her writing assignments have grown in volume. Our current ink jet was costing me a fortune in ink. I had purchased a basic HP laser but then saw this Brother printer on sale for the same price. Returned the HP and purchased the Brother. Boy am I glad I did. Set up was quick (I used the USB cable method) and I was up and printing in a half hour. Hooked my wifes desktop to this printer so we can print both wirelessly from our laptops and from the desktop printer. It also scans and copies so a full featured product. VERY happy with this purchase.

Great deal for under $200
||Posted .This item took me less than a hour from the time it was out of the box to printing to my pc and I have no experience with this kind of a setup. It picked up our wifi and hooked right up. Getting the ipad to print pages was a different story. I still have to fumble around with printing from the ipad. The software that comes with the printer is an inconvenience and always wants to update and I really do not know what it does. It also prints clear and is so convenient for me to sit here and hit print and know it is done in the computer room

Great printer
||Posted .I purchased this to replace an inkjet that was CONSTANTLY out of ink - no matter what. The ink would dry out and it seemed like every time I went to print something I had to buy new cartridges. I bought this B&W laser because I was told that the "ink" was dry and would not dry out and so far, so good! I have it hooked up wireless-ly to my home and it was printed flawlessly, syncs with every device and has a great print speed with excellent results. Looking back I wish I had considered the color printer more, I was a little scared of the print cartridge costs for the color version. But other than that this is an excellent buy!

Laser Speed & the Convenience of an All-In-One!
||Posted .As a full time student, I'm always rushing to print out lecture/ppt slides right before class (I take notes and write directly on them as I follow along in class). This printer can print out 80+ slides in no time! If you're always in a rush and sick of printers moving at a glacial pace, moreover, sick of having to manually feed and turn over paper for double-sided printing, this printer is definitely for you! Once you've experienced automatic duplex printing, you'll never want to go back! The automatic duplex printing is a bit slower than normal single sided printing however, it's definitely faster than other monochrome laster printers out there.

Overall good product
||Posted .I bought this without seeing it based on the recommendation of the store clerk. I wanted a duplex printer. When I picked it up from a different store, I found that he sold me a printer with a scanner. I decided to take it, but it is much larger than what I wanted. The print function has worked well, and duplex printing has also worked well on 20 lb good quality paper. Haven't tried any other paper. The print quality is sufficient for my personal use and probably would be good for business. The paper tray is on the very bottom and my shelf has a raised edge, so I must lift it to remove the paper tray. Setup was relatively easy. Can't comment on the efficiency of toner use, but it is supposed to be economical. It has to be better than the inkjets that have been extremely expensive to run.
