    Synopsis

    Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The idea of fusing teen sex-comedy and horror genres into a boffo box-office bonanza seems like classic braindead Hollywood-think... but somehow, beyond all reason, the makers of this film manage to pull it off. Much of the credit goes to director Fran Rubel Kuzui (Tokyo Pop) who chooses wisely to let the jokes and action rip by so quickly that viewers won't have time to realize there's practically nothing going on. Also excellent is Kristy Swanson as the bubble-headed cheerleader who learns from a Van Helsing-ish stranger (Donald Sutherland) that she's, like, the reincarnation of this pure female warrior and stuff, destined to rid the world -- or at least the Valley -- of vampires. No sooner is the Buffster being schooled in the ways of vampire butt-kicking (much to the consternation of meek pretty-boy beau Luke Perry) than the lead vampire (Rutger Hauer) and his leering cronies show up -- and leading up the pack is none other than Pee-Wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens. Fans of this film's popular TV offspring will appreciate the fang-sharp humor but may be surprised to find little evidence of the spooky atmosphere that permeates the series -- though there are some inspired moments, particularly the ridiculous death-by-ruler scene. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

Many people will be familiar with the television show, but the film which came several years previously is sort of a cult classic, at best. That's too bad, because it's a fun little movie, unpretentious and kind of sweet in its own peculiar way. I remember seeing the movie in a theatre when I was in high school; I was a little confused by it, being not all that sure whether I was supposed to be laughing or not, or whether I was supposed to be scared or not. But, hey, I was a stupid teenager. Watching the movie again several years later, I thought it was pretty hilarious (intentionally) in places. It also drags in places, but all in all, it's enjoyable

I was really excited when this was planned to come out. I remember ordering this movie off pay-per-view back when I was in high school and how much it used to make me laugh and make me scared. The performances have obviously gone down quality since I last washed it, but it was still a fun revisit. You can't beat the price either. That and comes with a digital copy, yes please! It's funny that they're doing all these remakes of Buffy right now so this was a cool item to get.

This review is for the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer..Kristy Swanson who is as attractive now as she was in the 90's. Here she has to deal with Rutger Hauer and Paul Reubens as vampires, Luke Perry as her potential heart throb, and Donald Sutherland as a Van Helsing vampire hunter type. An excellent campy, fun mix of horror, and comedy. 20th Century Fox took a long time to release this but well worth the wait..Check It out!!

As funny as I remember back in the day, You gotta love watching 90's films especially when they finally release them on bluray not to mention the digital HD copy that comes with this 7 release. Kristy Swanson as Buffy, Rutger Hauer as the vampire lothos and my personal favorite Amilyn played by Paul Reubens with the funniest death I've seen :)

This was the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, plus the start of a franchise too. The movie is what gave birth to the show few years later. The exciting thing is the movie still hold up and it is just as silly when i last watched. Worth the watch

The movie itself is a classic. All the usual humor of a Joss Whedon movie with plenty of memorable lines and characters. The blue ray itself lacks anything really special for being an anniversary edition of the film. But otherwise if you love the movie this is your best version of it to date.

This campy, retro horror film will have you laughing as you watch. Not scary in the least, it tackles the premise of what happens when a Barbie girl become a slayer of Vampires. Great scan of the 1992 film which looks crisp and colorful on blu-ray. Digital code included worked on iTunes!

The original Buffy movie led to the tv series so if for no other reason it has it place in history for that and is even included Canon in the tv series. It's an 80 type cheese fest with vampire is your okay with that going in, then I think you'll enjoy the movie.
