A Great FPS Shooter
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis really is a well put together first person shooter. The single player mode is one of the best looking games out and is the best looking ever in the COD series. If you play it on recruit or regular you will likely finish the game in a little over 5 hours. However, if you play on hardened or veteran it adds a new level of realism to the game and you will find yourself adding hours of gameplay. I have finished the game and found no real bugs or glitches. It delivers a large amount of huge fire fights that are high paced and very action packed. The choice of weapons is also very real and well done. Single player mode will keep you busy especially if you are trying to get all the achievements as beating the game on veteran is not an easy task. The multiplayer is where this game really shines. I have previously enjoyed playing other games multiplayer, but COD 4 has really outdone most of them. The perks system which gives you the ability to have three special features for example faster reloading, or extra health really add to the game. The experience point based ranking system is easy to understand and much easier to rank up compared to games like GRAW. The maps in COD 4 are also very addicting and offer a wide variety. There are some smaller maps which give you very fast paced fire fights and there are much larger maps that are good for snipers as well as those looking for good action. The classes and amount of different style of games you can get into is endless and the unlocking of better guns, perks, and weapon attachments is great. If you have Xbox Live and are a fan of FPS's you must buy this game.

Best game I've played for 360
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis game is amazing. I haven't played Halo 3 since I got this, and I don't miss it. The graphics are incredible, the controls are smooth and work perfectly. It looks just fine on an old tube TV, but when you plug it in to an HDTV the game comes to life. The sound amazes me every time I play. The campaign is captivating, it throws twists at you and breaks away from the constant "counter attacks" of the WWII CoD's. But where the game really shines is multiplayer. As you work your way up through ranks you unlock different guns, sights, challenges, and perks. Perks are special abilities ranging from sprinting farther distances, to carrying more grenades, and even one called last stand; In which before you die you pull out your pistol in a last ditch effort. It has many game types including the good old search and destroy to newer ones such as sabatoge (neutral bomb). However it lacks my favorite online game type, capture the flag, for some reason... They went a different direction with the melee combat in this game. Instead of hitting with the buttt of your rifle you have a knife which is an instant kill. However it is unreliable a lot of the time. Sometimes it will play the animation and sound of stabbing someone but then they'll turn and blow you away. This however is a minor annoyance in a great game. Everyones favorite thing, sniping, just got better. A sniper wears camoflauge, in some levels, that blends in with the grass and brush so you become virtually invisible. This game is a must have for any CoD fan, and a perfect place to start if you're playing CoD for the frist time. Highly recommended

Welcome Back Activision
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have been waiting for a "True" Call of Duty sequel to be released ever since Call of Duty 2 was released on the PC/360. Call of Duty didn't do it for me, it felt way too much like an "Arcade" shooter to me. But now that Activision is back on the scene with their latest Call of Duty, all is right in the world. The single player campaign flows seemlessly between the the S.A.S and the US Marines in true Call of Duty form. But the to tell you the truth, I really wasn't really paying attention too much to the storyline, it seemed very... Secondary compared to all the shooting I was doing. In that sense, the single player campaign was still fun! Non stop action and even some sneaking missions here and there! The multiplayer is still my most favorite part of the whole game itself. With the introduction of Perks into the mix, it basically beefs up your guy to go charging into battle with an advantage. Lets say for example you have the Martydom perk on, what is basically does is that when you die, you let go of a grenade before you die in hopes of blowing up your unlucky foe. Other perks include Juggernaut (Increased health), Last Stand (pull out a pistol and shoot when you die) and much much more. Gameplay types are plentifule from Territory to Team deathmatch to Free For All. All in All Call of Duty is fun for anyone who is a fan of shooters in general.

A true gaming masterpeice.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe game is completely ridiculous, and I mean that in the best way. I'm going to write a review telling you how amazing of a shooter this game really is. It is flawless being held in the shooter category alone. The campaign I'll admit wasn't very long but it didn't need to be a Final Fantasy ordeal, it's Call of Duty people, quite complaining about the short single player mode. The game has it's obvious competition, including Halo 3, Gears of War(though slightly older now, still great) and Bioshock, Mass Effect, whatever it is you enjoy. Regardless of it's competition it really does bring everything to the table. I've always, ALWAYS, been a huge Halo fan. I remember playing Halo 3 and thinking nothing could top this, I really thought it was the best FPS I had ever played. CoD4 has proved to me that games are one of the greatest things the world has to offer nowadays. I constantly find myself lost in oblivious excitement while playing this game. It hasn't a lack of much, other than the fact I really did love putting my gun around a corner and firing without putting my characters head out to get sniped. Either way, I've never felt more in the game while playing any other game. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has so many amazing qualities. The huge arsenal of weaponary, the expansive maps that you can play over and over again and never get slightly bored, the wonderful and extremely helpful perks, the good training and fun campaign mode, the in-depth character development, the not so gorey but all realistic action, and last but not least the amazing feel of the game. Oh and Halo 3 was not upsetting either by the way, I used that as an example since many people enjoy Halo and many people don't really know what it's all about. I don't believe you can put Halo and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in the same category. Sure the same genre, they are both amazing shooters, but Halo is more unrealistic amazing. CoD4 is the kind of amazing where you catch yourself going, "Oh my god I hope that cover behind the car can last long enough to get a rocket over to that window to take out that sniper." I chose to get really into this review for the soul purpose of letting people know how good of a game this really is. I love it, you'll either love it or like it but I can almost GUERANTEE you will not be disappointed if you are a fan of the genre. Thank you for your time.

Airstrike air-bound on your location!!!!!!!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis game got most anticipated at E3 this year. A beta has been released to a certain few players and since i happen to have the beta I know from personal experience that the multiplayer is fast-paced and very solid. In my opinion this multiplayer actually is just as good as Halo. The biggest difference is that the game is reaalistic. On the multiplayer side you get rewards for getting killing streak 3 kills in row you get a radar which is vital in continuing your killing streaks, then at 5 kills you an Airstrike one of the main things that sets this game apart from the rest. The airstrike allows you to choose the spot on the map and air fighters will come and bomb that spot in 3 barrages. So far the reawards for streaks go to up to 7 in which you get to call in a Apache helicopter to rain down bullets onto your enemies. The game also offers a great ranking system and since Bungie patented their's this one is just as good. The ranks are set up by military based level, private, corporal, etc. which each level up you unlock new features in the game. It can be related to Rainbow Six: Vegas, if you've ever played it. In conlusion i gave the 5 out of 5 and would give it 10 out of 10 great game and one of the few games worth your hard earned $60!!!!!!

Addicting
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis game is amazing! The ability to unlock weapons, attachments, camo, and perks adds a new dimension to online gaming. The stunning visuals running at 60 fps aren't to shabby either. The sound design is reminiscent from COD 2. The variety of challenges, unlockables, and weapons is staggering and the ability to create your own class gives you some freedom in your online persona. In Campaign mode, the cinematic cut scenes are back, and the story feels global and epic while still being told from soldiers on the ground. A minor con is that enemies will continue to spawn from the same areas if you stay in one place, turning some portions of the game into just rushing past enemies to get to an advancement point. For difficulty, COD 4 MW has some of the toughest firefights in shooter history when you crank it up to veteran. The level design is well thought out and insanely detailed in both campaign and multiplayer. The Achievements you can get from this game are all in campaign mode. Also new, a much easier way to cook and toss back grenades. If that isn't enough, the guys from infinity ward have included some fun unlockable cheats for campaign as well as an arcade mode. If this isn't enough reason to spend $59.99, I don't know what is.

Best Shooter Ever?
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAt first, I was skeptical to buy a modern warfare game from a series which had previously only made WWII games (Call of Duty 1 through 3.) Once I had bought it, I was immediately glad I did. There was no time taken for me to "learn to like it." The first mission entitled "Crew Expendable" (something all gamers love to hear) plunges you right into the single player experience. The graphics are simply unbelievable. You are dropped by helicopter onto a ship in the middle of a storm. The guys over Activision spared no details as the rain is pouring onto the metal base of the freighter. Additionally, the boat is rocking from side to side constantly, giving an extremely eerie feeling unparalleled in any other games. From there, the single player only gets better. The game designers worked very hard to think of the best location for enemies. Combine good placement with great AI, and enemies become more than just human targets, and each one can be a challenge. The visuals only increase in quality, ranging from huge explosions to rabid dogs. Overall, this game is one of the best single player experience from a first person shooter ever. Now, on to the real star of the show: the multi player. First of all, the connection system seems like it was made for Xbox Live. Connection is almost always smooth, and usually you can get into a game within seconds. In multi player you can customize your loadout. This means you can start with a Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle and a silenced pistol, or given a few choice perks you can run around with a shotgun and a machine gun. The multi player action is incredibly intense. One of my favorite features is the ability to shoot through light cover and even some walls. This means the nobody is ever completely safe, and you must always be on your toes. The multi player encourages doing well over "achievement farming" (doing certain tasks to get gamer points) which has become all too prevalent in Xbox Live games recently. My recommendation: buy it. This game is unparalleled in so many different areas of gameplay. Once in a while a game comes along that sets an entirely new standard for video games. This is that game.

Top Shooter For 360; truly NEXT GENERATION
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've been thinking how silly it is that we all (including myself) continue to rank games in comparison with Halo 3 (and I'm doing it again). Truth is, Halo gave us what we needed in it's time so we honor it. We most of us were/are dissapointed with the rehashing of Halo and Halo 2 into what we are now calling Halo 3. Enough said. Call of Duty series has it's own following and I predict that Call of Duty 4 will pull many more in. There are no cartoons there. Call of duty 4 has no competition regarding graphics and realism (NONE!). The game-play is so intense that I find myself ducking (do we have a wireless gammer suit in our future?). The in-game rewards you earn for doing well continues to be well thought out and implemented making the intensity and reply very high. If your expecting one of those head-to-head shooters where you start off and work your way through a map with the enemy to your front you better start learning this one on EASY. The Enemy in this game will take you out from any direction (only F.E.A.R. compares in this area but still doesn't measure up to COD4). I was expecting to be able to command a fire team but heck! It's enough just trying to survive the battlefield in control of the one character. Using the heavy fire-power from above is simply awesome. It's hard to think of how a game might improve over COD4 but some things I would like to see eventually implemented are; controlling a fire team, and use of cover like in Gears of War, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, etc. IMO the inability to use cover in any way other than simply moving the character behind it is the only thing that really detracts from the realizim of this game. You need to be able to "pin" your character to the cover like you would do in real life if bullets were flying. Not to end on a negative note, the games more worthy than that. If you have been considering this game and haven't made up you mind, I recommend it more highly than any other game for the XBOX360 that I have played. If thieves break in and take all my games but one, I hope it's COD4 they leave behind.
