I had previously been using a Rebel XS for about 8 years and was looking to upgrade but stay within the Canon family due to the lenses I already owned. I had a trip to the UK that was coming up and figured this was a good time to make the purchase. I was eyeballing the T6s but was a little weary due to some comments about the autofocus and tracking with AI Servo with regards to tracking objects in motion (sports photography). I had also looked at the T7i but really wanted a body with the info screen on top. Luckily the 77D was $300 off at the time and since my previous Canon was still doing well after 8 years I figured the investment was worth it. I just got back from the trip and the camera, especially with the 18-135mm lens was perfect and handled everything I threw at it. I would say my I'm in the more intermediate group of users but the camera has plenty of guide modes to help beginners as well. The lens was perfect for travel and covered the wide range of photographs I was taking. The wireless transfer was also very handy. The one thing I will point out is that while the app has the ability to track location and transfer to the camera, it is incompatible with this camera which I didn't find out until I was over there. The GPS attachment is currently on amazon for $240 but it's crazy to me that a $1,500 camera can't handle GPS without an attachment which accounts for the 1 docked star. Otherwise great camera which I would recommend to others.

Have had my EOS T3i for a few years, and love it, but wanted to check out new models for traveling (lighter weight), and newer technology (Wifi). The 77D is simple to use, has WiFi & Bluetooth capability. Don't get frustrated with syncing to your iPhone/iPad. Excellent tutorial videos available on You Tube if you are a beginner. I selected the 18-135 lens, to have more zoom ability, and not carry multiple lenses, and I love the lock feature on the lens.

I recently purchased this as an upgrade from a Canon Rebel T1i and I love it so much! It has so many great updated features and it’s easy to use even if you aren’t an expert yet. The photos come out amazing, even better.
