Description
The EOS R6 features the same base image sensor and image processor as the EOS-1D X Mark III, enabling a native ISO range of 100-102,400. With high-speed continuous shooting of up to 12 fps with the Mechanical shutter and up to 20 fps with Electronic “silent” shutter, the EOS R6 can keep up with just about any fast-moving subject. Combined with the new Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system with approx. 100% coverage of the frame, and 1,053 Automatic AF Zones, the EOS R6 will confidently follow elusive subjects at 20fps for sharp images. Tracking subjects is easy and intuitive with the ability to track people using Eye, Face and Head Detection AF, or when tracking the whole body, face or eye of cats, dogs, or birds with Animal Detection AF. With the new 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilizer, up to 8-stops of shake correction is possible with both non-stabilized and optically image-stabilized lenses, opening up many more creative opportunities for incredibly stable lower light photo or video content creation. Those looking for creative cinematic video options will appreciate frame rates including 4K 60P and Full HD 120P with the option of internally recorded 4:2:2 10-bit Canon Log or HDR-PQ recording. The inclusion of Dual SDXC UHS-II card slots combined with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allows for multiple transfer and automatic backup options, making the EOS R6 ready when you are.

Bought this as a hoped for upgrade to my previous Canons (20D, 7D, 5Diii-- now 12 year old tec). Had a variety of Ef lenses so bought the adapter rather than springing for the RF (and quite expensive) ones. I also have an old 2x offbrand teleconverter I rarely used because the autofocus never worked with my previous camera bodies. Also own a 400EX flash gun, Kenko extension tubes and a Yongnuo setup to handle off camera flash. Much to my surprise and delight, they all work. The teleconverter now provides autofocus for my 70-200 f/4 L (non IS but in body IS takes over nicely) lens, though not the Sigma 140-500. The handgrip doesn't fit (smaller body than the 5D) and my remote shutter releases don't fit the socket (why Lord why change the connection?). However, the Yongnuo can be attached to the camera to act as a remote release and it works. The manual says that the rc-6 is compatible but other sources, including Canon's own, doesn't list it as a compatible camera. Hmmmm.
No cable to connect the camera to my computer is provided. Why is that left out? In theory, I could connect using bluetooth. I prefer to use my card reader instead.
I have only had the camera for about 10 days and haven't had a chance to test it in all or even my preferred conditions. So far, image quality is very good, with high ISO images cleaning up quite nicely in Lightroom. My landscapes seem to need a bit more work than my 5D ones did, but that could be due to my changing notions about appearance and the lighting conditions I have had.
I have never been one to test the various autofocus options available on my previous cameras. The controls on the r6 are much easier to find and work very well. My backyard songbirds seem to have a higher hit rate using the eye detect animal, servo, high ISO and shutter priority set (1/500 second). This combination, esp with a tripod mount, might not be that different from what I would have gotten with my previous setup but I am satisfied, even it I am simply experiencing a placebo effect.
Controls seem well organized, but it has taken me some effort to find them and learn to use them. After taking on that learning curve, I am pleased; they seem actually simpler.
Sample images are all worked over in Lightroom, not straight out of the camera; I'm an intermediate skilled photographer and Lightroom user. Your mileage may differ.

This is a great camera for any photographer. Excellent low light performance and my photos have been spectacular. Video quality is also great as well, though I recommend getting an external recorder for longer record times. To get the most out of the camera, there can be a bit of a learning curve. There is plenty of free educational videos on Youtube that will get a new user up to speed.

I've had a long line of Canon cameras starting with a T2i and including several APS-C and FF EF-mount cameras. With exception of a brief relationship with the original Eos-M, this is my first mirrorless camera, and this camera is SO MUCH FUN TO USE. The controls are perfect, so good in fact that I've made the jump to shooting in Manual mode after being a dedicated Av mode shooter with my previous cameras. The autofocus is fantastic and quite magical to see the eye-detect follow birds around. Dynamic range and high-ISO performance are leaps above the 7Dii that I replaced. My EF lenses are working great with the EF-EosR adapter (sold separately). I haven't tried video yet.

Now that I’ve had this camera body for a few months, I can confidently say that it has transformed my work. I shot portraits on a canon rebel XSi for something like 5 years, so obviously any upgrade in iso performance and autofocus quality in particular is substantial in my case. That being said, the autofocus is absolutely fantastic. Once you learn your way around the numerous modes and scenario options, soft focus will be a problem of the past. I’ve found that I feel comfortable using ISO as high as 3200 without noticing much noise, and higher ISO settings have minimal effect on the dynamic range. On that note, the color rendering and dynamic range are absolutely fantastic. It is disappointing that canon would lower the mp count to 20 for this camera to lower the cost, but it has not been an issue for me as long as I’m intentional about my framing while shooting so I don’t have to crop much. For those of us who can’t afford the r5, I think this is an all-round great body.

Photography is my hobby, I preorder the Canon R6 and just shipped to me couple days ago. My primary reason to pick the canon R6 is the new eye auto focus and the 20fps, because I like to shoot wild life and outdoor activities. My have been using the 7DmarkII over the year, I love this camera, but it’s an APS-C sensor. R6 is a full frame and I can just use my existed EF lenses with the EF-RF adaptor. My first impression of this camera is the ergonomic grip. It provides you a Canon feels, but much lighter than the 7D mark ii. When point it to a bird or animal, it locks up in to the animal eye, and that is a sure focus. Lots of reviews talk about the overheat issue on this camera, but I don’t shoot much of video, so I am not worry about it. Canon will come up with latter firmware to fix it just like the issue on the EOS-R. I plan to make some videos with the Canon R6 in the future, and hope by then Canon will find solution to the heat issue. At the main time I am excited to put it to more test in wild live animal shooting.
Button line coming from 7Dmark 2, this camera is also 20mgpixels just like 7D mark ii, but it is far superior in every aspects. When you put an EF-S on this camera; it automatic crops the lens into 1.6 reduction so the 20mg to 10mg, but that’s OK. The beauty about it is that I can use all my existed EF lenses in this camera with no issue.

I specifically bought this camera for taking indoor sports pictures. I used it with a rental Canon RF 70-200mm f2.8l lens and my pictures came out awesome! I've yet to try it with Canon RF 70-200mm f4l lens to see if that lens may suffice since it's cheaper and available to buy in the market right now. Battery lasted the whole day. Overall I'm very happy with this camera. Very easy to use and RF lenses are significantly a lot lighter than EF lenses. It's great taking pictures even in low light. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I upgraded from the Rebel T5. This camera is amazing. The touch screen was something I didn’t know I needed. The focus is incredible and versatile. I love the different shutter options, as well as the ability to use Bluetooth to sync images. I’ve yet to find a fault, but I weekly find something new that I love. Love the dual SD card slot and the ability to customize all of my buttons. Great investment
A:If you’re looking to shoot in 4K for long periods at a time you’ll likely want to use a different camera body. Even if the latest software update as of me posting this (9/9/21) you are still limited to 30 minutes. Personally I’ve shot 4K at lower intervals of time until the battery was nearly dead and never ran into any overheating issues.
A:Yes. The camera’s interval timer lets you shoot from as frequent as every two seconds, to 99 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds. You can capture as many as 3600 frames or as few as two.
A:I'm having the same issue, it was actually just available to click preorder just now, but after refreshing the page it's 'coming soon'.
I think they're trying to force you to pay more for a bundle.
