Canon - PowerShot 12.1 Megapixel Compact Camera - Gray

Ok, I love cameras who doesnt! I own a Nikon D7000 and that is a GREAT camera but its a DSLR.. I wanted another camera to take with me when a pocket camera is needed and Ive been looking for months now! This little camera is the ONE! Great 3" LCD screen, Sharp Pictures, HD video ( no zoom on video ) not a deal breaker for me! I was looking at the nikon S6100 and that body was cheap and Nikon doesnt come with battery chargers you have to charge the battery in the camera to a wall outlet or USB.. The Canon comes with a SMALL battery charger. The fit and finish is OUTSTANDING ! I also looked at the 300 HS the only difference is the 24mm and the 100 has 28mm and the 300 has 5X zoom and the 100 has 4X zoom, again not a deal breaker for me and the 300 is 50.00 more! That wasnt the issue between the 2 the thing I didnt like on the 300 was the BLACK texture of the 300 HS it felt like SANDPAPER ! Or you could of choose the RED version BUT I didnt want a red camera! If you are looking for a camera that takes GREAT pictures great quality and good battery life that you wont be dissappointed with this little power house!

Bought this camera a month ago for my girlfriend. She loves it, it takes great photos even fast action is perfectly clear. We waved our hands as fast as possible and got no blur at all. Another photo she was jumping off a fountain and not only did she come in clear but so did the water in the fountain in the background. I bought a Nikon D3000 SLR last year and expected to be let down and I'm not at all. It's got a great auto-focus and is very easy to use. I bought it for her for a trip to Spain and it comes with a charger that can be used on 220V and she has charged it there as well as here and it charges in like 90 minutes and lasts for several hundred photos. Plus it's pink and there is not a lot of great pink cameras out there.

I was planning 3 major trips for this summer, and in the beginning of June, decided to splurge on a camera after my old Kodak died. Always hearing great things about Canon, i decided to try one out. BEST INVESTMENT SO FAR. Holy cow! The pictures were just absolutely stunning, all the various features are fantastic, and the battery life (i was concerened about not having a backup plan of just using regular old batteries, since this one just has the rechargeable)- the battery lasted for DAYS! we were at the oregon coast for 3 days and we were constantly snapping photos and reviewing them- didn't even dent the battery life. take my word for it- want a great compact camera with a huge impact? this is YOUR product! 100% in love with it!

I love this camera! I had a Sony Cybershot I purchased a year ago that got stolen; I re-bought the same camera and was having issues with it's software so I returned it and they suggested the Canon PowerShot. It blows the Sony out of the water. The quality of pictures and screen display are amazing! It has many options and filters and also is capable of the Panoramic shot. Buying this in the bundle is definitely the way to go. It comes with a extra battery, an SD card and a camera case. Best camera for the price, hands down.

The ease of use, and features on this camera are pretty solid. The 1080p is a bit laggy, nothing noticeably horrible. The ABSOLUTE WORST thing about the all the Powershot ELPH models, is the placement of the flash. I notice in almost all of my close up shots there are dark spots in the bottom right corner. I uploaded a picture with this problem. I'm considering returning it. BUT other than that... I LIKE IT!

I cam from a "Canon PowerShot SD1000" I didn't need to buy any extra accessories fo "Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS" because I was able to use the battery pack from the SD1000 and the same cards. The only thing I would recommend if you want to record in HD is that you will get SDHC Memory card because you will be able to record videos as long as you want and will be able to write to the card faster.

Let me qualify this review by saying I'm a simple girl, not gifted in the electronics or technology arenas. For example, I have a blackberry, but use 1 app. So, here goes... This camera has a LOT of options, overwhelming for me. BUT, it has a quick set up guide that gives you all you need to get started. I upgraded from a ten year old camera that died its natural death. This camera was my Christmas present, which my sweet husband gave me Christmas Eve so I could take pictures with it Christmas morning. He didn't think to get the memory card, though. So I used the memory card from my old camera. I was disappointed with my photos. Our living room is small, maybe 300 sq feet. With furniture and the Christmas tree, the camera was never more than 6 feet from the subject. All the lights were on, but the pics still had a yellow tint, like the flash couldn't go far enough. I bought a new memory card that week and took more pics. The difference was night and day. My biggest hint would be to get a high quality, high capacity memory card. It impacts the photo quality. Since I upgraded the memory card, I've been VERY pleased with the photos and videos I've shot. Colors are vibrant and pics are clear. Wonderful Christmas present!! And LOVE the color!! The viewing screen is great - large and glare hasn't been an issue like with my other camera. Zoom is a little frustrating. It is very sensitive and easy is tricky to ge the feel of the knob to get it to land just where you want it. Like many of these kinds of cameras, you aren't going to get surprise shots. For the shot to be focus, you have to push half way down and pause then push all the way. It takes quickly once you push it all the way down, so that's good. But you have the hesitation while you focus. So if you want to be able to take speedy or rapid succession shots, this isn't the camera for you. Also, the video does not have zoom capability during operation. You can zoom in or out to get your video set up, but once you start taping the zoom option doesn't work. Otherwise I've been very pleased with photo and video options.

We bought this camera for our honeymoon and the first grouping of photos turned out pretty well. The menu is really easy to use compared to a lot of other cameras, which made my wife switch the settings around constantly to play around with all the scene variations (good or bad?). The shutter button and reaction time are fantastic. I've seen a lot of cameras that will just pause for a few seconds before taking the picture which is really frustrating. It has all the big features you'd expect from a Canon PowerShot series. One problem I'm seeing in our first pictures is that it really overreacts to red. It's possible my wife had the setting on Vivid when taking pictures of us because our faces turned out disgustingly yellow and bright red in a few pictures. She's also a red head, so it turned her face bright cherry red as well. Not saying that's the camera's fault, so just mind your Vivid usage, it's a little extreme and unnecessary. Most Canon sensors are already pretty high color saturation to begin with.
