Canon - PowerShot 12.1-Megapixel Digital Camera - Silver

This isn't a bad camera for the price. One pleasant surprise was the inclusion of a 2gig memory card, vs the 256 they said came in it. I'd purchased an 8 gig card in addition, which I find I probably won't need unless I'm on vacation now, but that's ok, better to have a spare. I find the pictures to be more than reasonable. While not professional quality, they're more than suitable for everyday use. I do find the automatic lens focusing mechanism to be a bit noisy at first, but you get used to it. It does take a couple of seconds to focus most of the time, so don't expect to just whip it up and take instant pictures and capture something that was happening fast and unexpected. I'm mostly using it to document improvements to our new home, take pictures of the pets, and other miscellaneous stuff. Works just fine for that. The videos this takes are also pretty good, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to do. The software and cabling that come with it also make it very easy to upload, review, edit, and post photos. I'm a total newbie to this kind of thing, and I took to it in no time!

I replaced an old HP camera with this Canon and I could not be happier. My mom also has a larger Canon but wanted something smaller to take on a trip abroad. We both ended up purchasing the same one. I was so amazed at the quality of the pictures and how much I could zoom in. See attached pics - the first is from where I was sitting in the stadium, the second is zooming in from where I was sitting. The camera is extremely easy to use, and so is the software once installed. I love the auto focus and face-finding features. I started using some Panasonic rechargeable batteries which died very quickly, but I will get other ones which are a better fit. I am moving abroad soon and cannot wait to take pictures with this camera.

I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my Canon Powershot 540. I wanted to take some awesome pics on my vacation and wanted more megapixels. I wasn't disappointed. The detail is amazing. Was able to increase size of the pics with very little distortion in detail. The auto macro feature is so convenient. I thought the price was a bargain for 12.1mp compared what else was available. The battery life is better than my previous 540. I'm waiting to see how it does in the colder weather. I use AA, non rechargeable only. The software included also makes catagorizing your pics easier. Mine came with a 128mb card.

I love love love the quality of the pictures and how easy it is to get great macro shots. It's light-weight and easy to hold. The function buttons are within reach. Almost everything is fully customizable, I haven't found out how to adjust the ISO function yet. My only gripe is that when deleting from the display view, there's no feature to throw more than one photo at a time. Other than that, it's a great camera and I highly recommend it (I've included two photos for proof of clarity.)

Looked at all reviews. BB & CR and decided go for this one For me the price was terrific.$95 with my $35 rewards coupon. Was going to get the 780 but it was so small as well is the 1200 model. This one felt better in my hand and is so smart. It knows where your subject is and in AUTO focus it adjusts for you. If you don't want to think and just get decent pics, this is the one. Enjoy! I only have had the camera for three months, but I have been very happy with it. It has several different settings which I am still trying to figure out what works best for the type of picture I'm taking. This is not a problem with the camera, it's my inexperience. The pictures I take are sharp and clear.

I had an earlier model Canon PowerShot 4 megapixel camera that I bought years ago (maybe 2001) when it was the hottest new thing for $400. It was very bulky but easy to use and took great photos. For my birthday this year, I wanted to get a new Canon and did my research. I am not a professional photographer by any means so I was looking at the point and shoot line. I did not want to spend more than $200 and was surprised to find the Canon PowerShot 12.1-Megapixel Digital Camera at Best Buy online for $140! What a deal! I raced out to Best Buy to check it out. I compared it to similar Canon cameras and it had better optical zoom than some of the more expensive cameras. It was SLIGHTLY bulkier than the more expensive models but I would rather spend the money on better picture quality than sleek design. There was a smaller Canon that shot HD video but was $100 more and over my budget. For $140, I don't think you could find a better camera with as many features. I bought mine, took it home, and have been very pleased with it.

I purchased this camera for the purpose of taking it on vacation. While out in Denver the camera was put through some rough durability test. For example I took it snowboarding and kept it in my boarding pants and despite taking some wicked spills the camera held up and the camera's integrity was never compromised. The flash on this camera allowed me to take some great night time pictures. The batteries the came with the camera wore out really fast and when I bought new name brand batteries they only lasted a little longer than the original batteries. The price for the camera is worth it due to the quality of the pictures it takes.
