Perfect Companion
Posted .I predominantly use a Canon 40D as a camera, I’m spoiled by its results and depend on its capabilities however there are times when an DSLR is more camera than the occasion calls for or when discretion is the order of the day so having a small high quality point and shoot can be perfect. I know that many people are forgoing small point and shoots in favor of their camera phones and truth be told my Droid takes excellent pictures but its still no match for this little gem of a Canon. What I like about this camera is its small and compact size, it easily fits into a pocket and when out and in use its small enough that its totally discreet, it doesn’t call unwanted attention to itself, in face because of its size, shape and color it could be mistaken for a smart phone. The body has a very nice texture and its well put together, typical Canon fit and finish. The screen on the back is bright and clear though I do miss having a viewfinder. The zoom button on the top is a bit small but then again its no worse than other similar cameras. It’s a champ in regards to battery life and its got a very good flash. I’ve tried the various creative modes and have been impressed. The stitching software is not very flexible but when you get the hang of it you can produce some great images. The one thing I don’t like is the cover for the USB port, it seems unnecessarily fragile. Overall the camera takes excellent images, the modes are great, the lens is excellent and its got a great form factor. I am very impressed and would highly recommend it. It’s the perfect companion to a DSLR or for just a casual afternoon or evening when you don’t want to take a larger camera. I really think it’s a terrific little camera!

Fantastic
Posted .I LOVE THIS CAMERA!!! I picked up this camera after returning the Sony W350, which I just wasn't happy with. This camera is small, good looking, easy to use, has some pretty cool features, and takes awesome pictures! I am submitting a couple of photos to share. One pic is of my jalepeno plant. The camera has a feature that will highlight one color (of your choosing), and turn everything else b&w. (I highlighted the red peppers.) The other pic is of a sunflower using the macro mode. I wish I could share more photos to show off this camera, but two is the limit. I am also including a link to a video I posted on youtube. The video on this camera is pretty good. The only reason I don't say great is this: The focus of the camera while shooting a video is fixed once you hit record. For example, if you are in video mode and focusing on, say, your beautiful wife, and hit record all is well and the video looks great. Now if she moves 20 feet away from you and you try to zoom in on her face (yes you can use the zoom while taking video), the focus will not re-adjust and she will be blurry. So, yes you can zoom during video but its not really useful because the image will almost always be out of focus. (The video on youtube does not really highlight this fact but believe me its true). One thing I loved about the Sony W350 was its panoramic mode, which was really cool. This camera has an 'image stiching' mode which allows you to take as many pictures as you want in a 'panoramic motion' and stich them together later with the software included. So, in theroy, you can create a 360 degree photo. It does work, kind of. The pictures are taken in a kind of 'fish eye' fashion, so once you get past two or three pics, and stiching them together, you end up chopping off the top and bottom corners of the pics. So, you can get a 360 degree picture but it will only contain the middle 1/4 of the oringinal pictures. (kinda hard to explain) Bottom line: buy this camera, you'l love it.

Great camera for general use
Posted .I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my FujiFilm digital camera and instantly loved it. I have yet to play with all of the features (and most likely will never touch some of them since general point and shoot users are just that....point and shoot!). The HD video is truley amazing from such a small camera. I recorded video at a Falcons game recently and it shows much better than I expected since I was not close to the focus point (I was on the opposite end of the field in relation to the focal point)t. The pictures I took of the field at the game came out a little better than I expected considering that this camera only has a 4x optical zoom and digital zoom, but if that were a more important feature for me I would have chosen a camera with a higher optical zoom. This camera will mostly be used for taking photos at family gatherings or social events where the subjects are in close proximity. For that purpose this camera has met and exceeded my needs by providing beautiful and clear pictures with vivid color and clarity. Of course, this is acheived with the right settings AND a reasonably steady hand (even with the image stabilizer...this is true with most cameras!)

Love this camera!
Posted .I have been wanting a new camera for a while. I had a Kodak but the battery on it went dead and I decided it was time to move up to a more professional yet small camera. i was between a sony with the carl zeis lense or a canon, to me, everything else is no where near this quality. this was by far the best camera i could have chosen!! i love this camera! i have had it for about a month and have tested it everywhere! the hd video is my favorite! i can hook it up to my HD TV with the cord than comes with the camera and it looks like a high quality movie!! it takes amazing picture quality, once you learn how to use it. if you always have it set on auto then the pics arent as great as what they could be if you go to specific surrounding sets (indoor, pets/children, macro, foliage, etc) and the features are stunning. i love everything about this camera but it is definitely something for people with small fingers...the buttons are small but that was a perk for me! then my family wont use it! and on one battery charging it lasts about a week!! amazing!! i added some pics to see just how amazing this camera is. anyone who says it isnt great just got a lemon. for some reason the pictures do not look as clear as what they do on my camera, tv, computer, or printed out. guess it couldnt handle pics of high quality :)

Great Camera for UNIQUE Pictures!
Posted .I LOVE this camera! I received it for a graduation present and absolutely love it! First of all, you can't beat the Color Accent setting! Everyone loves the pictures I take with this setting, and it's so easy to use but so unique! This is actually the main reason I bought this camera was for this setting, and also because Canon cameras are very reliable. There are also other interesting features such as: Color Swap, Miniature Effect, and Fisheye Effect! The zoom on the camera is great, though it only has a 4x optical zoom. The clarity of the pictures is perfect. I have not taken any blurry pictures as of yet. The battery life seems fine-I have only had to charge it once and I've had it for almost a month. It's strange that the camera book is on a CD, but the CD is very thorough. The only negative, however, is that if you have big hands or fingers, the buttons and controls on this camera are NOT for you. I find it a tiny bit hard to push buttons, even though I have little fingers. Overall, i am VERY happy with my camera and LOVE the diferent shooting modes and photo effects, along with the reliability! One opinion I have - ALWAYS use the wrist strap so you don't drop your precious camera!

Best point & shoot camera!
Posted .I had gotten this same camera (6 megapixel) about 5 years ago. I absoultely loved it because of it's ease of use and great picture quality. I decided to upgrade to the new Cannon not because anything was wrong with my one from 5 years ago but because I wanted a higher megapixel. I absolutely LOVE this camera. It is just as easy to use as my older version. I love the color accent feature. It has a sleek design that makes it fit nicely into your hand. I read many reviews on here before buying this and decided that since I had no problems with my last Canon that I'd stay with the same one! No regrets! Love this camera!!!

Great price, great product, Cannon rocks
Posted .This is my second cannon Powershot camera. I had my first SD450 for over 4 years and it was great!! It actually still works, but it just became outdated. So when black friday came around, I hunted around and fell in love with this new and improved SD1400. (BIG model and MP difference, I went from a 5 MP to a 14 MP!) It was the best purchase I have made all year. In total I paid less than $200 for the camera, including shipping! (SD card separate but they're like $10-$15) Shipping took a while since it was Black Friday, but it arrived just in time for Christmas. The Auto feature is pretty cool and will take the best quality for the most part. I love the smile setting where it automatically takes a picture when it detects a smile. It made for great laughs at Christmas. It comes in great colors and is slim and light enough to take anywhere. Will take amazing pictures in both daylight and night. (At night tweak the settings and see what lighting works best) To put it through the test: 1. It passed the Family pictures for Christmas, very clear and colorful Portrait images. 2. I went whale watching and it caught the spout of a whale out at sea from a great distance. (Everyone needed Binoculars) 3. It takes great Macro closeup pictures of plants and animals during my hikes 4. Sunset pictures are amazingly detailed and colorful. Highly recommend, my first camera was a Cannon and I'm hooked. They deliver great quality1

Love it!
Posted .I was leery about purchasing a point and shoot because most of my friends who have one get terrible indoor picture quality; if it's not too dark, the color is over exposed or it's dithered, BUT with this Canon Power Shot, it does nothing but impress me. I took pictures at a birthday party with very dim lights and the photos came out beautiful anyway. Even outdoors at night (landscapes) the pictures are beautiful, which was very surprising. I was expecting blurred or too dark photographs, but they were decent. I love the size and the battery is long lasting. Oh, and the video works really really well. I would recommend this camera for anyone who cannot afford a SLR. SLR's will always be the best, but if you can't get it, get this one.
