Perfect portable printer
Posted .I was at an event several weeks ago where I needed to set up a photography kiosk and print photos on the fly. I didn't want to lug my home printer so I hit the market for portables. The least expensive I found was the Canon Selphy CP800. All I wanted to print was 4 x 6's and this fit the bill. I'm a Canon shooter and am biased towards Canon, so the brand name and feature set was an added bonus. The printer itself is small, light, and compact. It's the perfect size and weight. The photo/paper is of high quality and is sold together. One ink cartridge will print exactly one pack of paper. Both the ink and paper are easy to load. Printing is relatively fast, as the photo is sucked back in to the printer several times- the printer prints Red, Blue, Green, and the clear coat separately. The total printing process, even after the multiple passes have completed still takes under a minute. The quality of the printed photo is outstanding and far exceeded my expectations. All the customers whom I printed for were happy with the paper and the quality. So was I. There are two cool things about this printer, which are optional accessories and make the printer even more portable. With a separate (ie not included) BT dongle- you can print wirelessly over BlueTooth. Canon sells one for the printer, but I've read elsewhere that you can use a third-party standard BT dongle. I have not tried this yet. Also, Canon makes a battery for the printer. That accessory I'm definitely buying.

Good for occasional use or scrapbooking
Posted .I went out to buy a little printer expecting to be able to refill the ink at Costco or Walgreens etc. Problem is I couldn't find a little guy to do that with. This was the only printer I could get in a pinch, as I need it to print pictures immediately for a baby shower this weekend. The print ribbons and paper are expensive, so I was irritated, but bought anyway. I opened up the printer and was pleased to see how small it is. It also prints up to 8 pictures on one sheet. Perfect for the baby shower scrapbook, as I can take 8 pictures, cut them up, and save paper and space on the little scrapbook pages. I am also thinking I will use this printers shuffle feature to print several small pics on one sheet to put in my kids baby books. All in all, it is a decent little printer for the price, just use it wisely and send larger order of pictures for albums to a photo processing center for 5 cents a piece versus 40 cents plus wear and tear on your printer.

Excellent quality prints, easy to use
Posted .I was looking for a very small printer to print 4x6 photos (or smaller) and was able to set this up VERY quickly, without any problems! The quality of the print is amazing, and just as good as what you would get back from a photo lab (I usually use Snapfish, but when I just need an extra print here or there this is useful). I am also able to print .jpg files and the result is stunning! You can print 1, 2, 4 or 8 copies onto one 4x6 photo (aka smaller sizes) or you can use the shuffle feature to print multiple photos onto one 4x6. The paper/ink is special but they are boxed together - and boxed in a way that they will run out at the same time - about $35 for 108 prints (read: 32 cents a print) in the same box. You can chose to use the computer software that comes with it if you want (but don't have to since you can just plug your camera or sd card or other media directly) but the software is cool and allows you to add text, icons, speech bubbles, calendars or frames to your photos, plus you can resize or rotate your photo easily with it as well. The software was an unexpected bonus! Only downsides: 1. Because I edit my photos a lot, I was not able to see some of the edited photos in the viewer in the printer, but using the software I could see them fine or using off the SD card directly was no problem. 2. Using shuffle feature, it is random, so you can't chose where each photo will appear, but this feature is otherwise really awesome. 3. It looks like the battery pack is almost as expensive as the unit itself, but unless you want to print outside, I'm not sure you'd necessarily need it, unless you really need to transport a lot from room to room. 4. Can't print larger than 4x6, but this would compromise the size, so I'd take this small size printer over larger prints.

Nice little photo printer
Posted .I purchased the Selphy 800 to go along with a Canon 150 IS camera. Although the camera takes beautiful photos, I prefer to have actual "hard" copies of the photos I take. I could easily head to Walmart, Costco, etc. To get the photos printed, but I felt it would be worth it to purchase a compact photo printer and have the convenience of printing out individual photos as needed for friends and family members. The printer is very small and takes up very little space. This is a huge plus for me since I tend to purchase a lot of electronics and storage space is at a premium. It took me less than 5 minutes to open the box, set the printer up, and check out my first photo. I simply took the memory card out of my camera, placed it in the memory card slot, scrolled to the chosen photo, and hit "print". I have not messed around with any of the advanced features. I was blown away by how nice my photos looked coming out of this printer. I will not pretend to know how the printing process takes place except to tell you that the photo goes through the printer 4 times and pops out in about 45 seconds. After popping the tabs off at both sides, I would never be able to tell that these photos were printed at home. I then went to compare the photos to some that had recently been printed at Walmart and another set printed at Walgreen's. The photos from the Selphy were much better- more gloss and more vibrant color. The ink and paper combo will run you about $.30 per photo. I looked at various online shopping sites and there are not too many deals out there that I could find. The ink packs are calibrated to run out at the exact same time as the paper included with them. It would be nice if it was a little less expensive, but you are paying for the convenience of printing the photos at home, which saves you the drive to your local photo shop. Overall, for $100 (cheaper if you shop around) I feel that the Selphy printer is a wonderful product. I take a small amount of photographs and I can choose which ones to print at the touch of a button. I am not an expert on photography and this is finally one product that did its job without making me want to throw it against a wall or without forcing me to read a product manual (I swear, the people who write those things are never native English speakers). I am recommending this product to all of my friends and family.

Good replacement for my Kodak
Posted .I need a photo printer to print instant pictures at my church for a variety of activities and that is small enough for me to cart back and forth from home. We previously used Polaroids, and then I used a Kodak camera dock printer. Kodak discontinued my model, so I went to Best Buy and bought this Canon portable photo printer. It was easy to set up right out of the box and was very similar to my old Kodak camera dock, so I knew pretty much how to work it. I am very pleased with my purchase and hope that Canon produces the paper and ink for this printer for many years. Just know that only a few pieces of photo paper are included with the printer; buy a package of paper and ink (sold together) when you buy the printer!

Excellent Printer
Posted .I love this printer! It is portable and easy to operate! I had a old Kodak Printer that died and I was so happy that Canon brought this out. The pictures come out great but one of the best features is that it laminates the photo. I am so happy with this printer! I was also glad that it was offered at Best Buy because I LOVE BEST BUY! Canon is also an excellent company. I had a bubble jet printer from Canon that was over 14 yrs. Old.

Good printer but requires proprietary paper
Posted .This printer is compact, convenient and makes excellent prints. My biggest complaint is that it does not state on the box that you must use proprietary paper to use the printer. I have lots of 4x6 paper I cannot use with this device. I also found it difficult to find the paper required and had to order it online
