CARRION is a reverse horror game in which you assume the role of an amorphous creature of unknown origin. Stalk and consume those that imprisoned you to spread fear and panic throughout the facility. Grow and evolve as you tear down this prison and acquire more and more devastating abilities on the path to retribution. Use your unique otherworldly abilities to your advantage and hunt down your prey!
Q: Is this complete on cart, or is it the same as the Special Reserve version?
A: Game wise, yes it is the same. It even comes with a little art book inside the case that has a reversible cover. It requested to do a little update before you play {10 sec., but you can skip it if you want to go straight into the game} and it was ready to go. {DLC was ready on startup, but I'm not certain if that was the reason for the "update request" or if that was just the normal procedure for Switch games. Most of my new Switch games have made the same request upon booting up on the 1st time...so this seems normal to me}
Q: This is a physical copy of the game and not a digital code of the game in a box?
A: Yes. No "Code in a Box BS" with this one. I'm an old school gamer who likes his physical copies above the digital ones.
Q: is this a re release of the special reserve version? the artbook looks like the exact same one.
A: Hard to say. I think the developers just found a publisher that was willing to take the risk of publishing it in large quantities in the US. Sort of like the Blaster Master Zero series. Pre-ordering/purchasing these was done via Limited Run only in the US, but you can buy them publicly in Japan. Unless it is a proven franchise, most publishers won't take the risk to mass produce an "Indie" title. As for the art book, the developer normal has copyright rights to material used in this manner. So it wouldn't surprise me if it is indeed the same book.
