A pedal-to-the-metal race car determined to prove his worth on the tracks discovers that life isn't always about crossing the finish line first in Toy Story director John Lasseter's mechanically minded tale of friendship and loyalty. Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) may be just a rookie, but he's convinced that he can realize his dream of zooming by the checkered flag if he can only make it to California in time to compete in the upcoming Piston Cup Championship. When Lightning takes a detour into the slow-moving, Route 66 town of Radiator Springs, however, it begins to appear as if his shot at the big time has effectively stalled out. Of course, Lightning's exciting cross-country trek wasn't all for naught, and after befriending such quirky Radiator Springs residents as Sally the Porsche (voice of Bonnie Hunt), Doc Hudson (voice of Paul Newman), and Mater the Tow Truck (voice of Larry the Cable Guy), the eager young racer learns that sometimes life is more about the voyage than the outcome of the race.~Jason Buchanan

I enjoyed this movie a lot, as with most Pixar animations. Watch a trailer of the film to see if you'd like it too. As for the SteelBook aspect (as compared to other releases), the SteelBook is a great value when you can catch it on sale. The SteelBook comes with the 4k UDH Blu-ray, which has a great picture, but also comes with a 1080p Blu-ray for older devices. Best of all, this includes a digital copy that you can register with your services like Vudu, Movies Anywhere, and Apple Movies (previously iTunes). The digital copy is in 4k where available, so it is a great option if you do not have a 4k UHD Blu-ray player, but do have a 4k streaming device, like AppleTV, Roku, or Amazon Fire Stick.
Ive always loved Cars, it, to me is the ultimate Pixar creation. Amazing how they animated cars, gave them personalities, back stories and emotion. Top that off with breath taking scenery which was impossible to create just a few years earlier. Love how they used actual locations to inspire and recreate the nostalgia of route 66. The reason I believe the sequels arent as popular is because they are themed on the racing, not the personalties and romanticism of small towns like those along route 66. I have bought it in DVD, BluRay and Im starting a 4K collection because i know its just a matter of time before I finally get a 4K (Still love my Sony 1080 HD's) Saw the 65 inch Oled and knew Cars would have to be in that collection, and if any movie cries out for steelcase is Cars. Will probably be the first movie i play when i finally get that 4k.
What an upgrade! I owned the original Blu-ray and it was nice, for sure. But the 4K and HDR treatment here is phenomenal. Add to that an immersive audio track courtesy of Dolby Atmos, and the film becomes a new experience for fans who have seen this film before. The opening race scene lets you know immediately what the 4K UHD Blu-ray offers over the previous iterations of this film on home media. It's fantastic. The crowd cheers while the cars roar around the room. Low frequency effects are sprinkled throughout that will occasionally rumble the room. Add to that the exclusive Steelbook packaging and a very low price (I purchased this during a holiday sale), and you just cannot pass it up. I am so glad I upgraded this movie in my collection. Highly recommended.
