Synopsis

Chernobyl Diaries
An extreme vacation turns terrifying when a group of friends visit the Chernobyl disaster site, and learn that some nightmares never die. Conceived and produced by Paranormal Activity's Oren Peli, Chernobyl Diaries gets underway as six thrill-seeking tourists hire a fearless tour guide, and travel to the abandoned Ukrainian city of Pripyat. Back when the Chernobyl nuclear reactor was up and running, Pripyat was the place the workers called home. But 25 years after one of the worst power-plant accidents in history, the city serves as an eerily silent testament to the dangers of nuclear power. Later, after getting unexpectedly stranded in Pripyat, the tourists and their guide realize they are being hunted. Now the harder they try to flee, the faster their numbers dwindle until only a few are left standing. Only then will the unspeakable terror that stalks these deserted streets finally emerge from the shadows to launch one last relentless, terrifying attack. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I say "decent?" because the story itself has been done before, in some form and in a different location. Circumstances may be different but the underlying story is still the same. Think of movies like "The Cave", "The Decent", etc. Actually, evening the ending is pretty cliché and straight from another movie, although I can't remember which one at the moment. Still... with nothing else to do, it's not bad.

when i first saw the trailer for this movie i didnt know what to think about it, finally rented it and was really surprised at how much i really liked it, the acting was ok, i like emile hirsch as an actor, the picture quality was pretty good but not reference quality, it had kind of a dark theme to it, not too many colors, fine layer of grain made it look really good, i highly recommend it

For "shaky camera" horror, check out V/H/S instead

I picked this because with DVD trade in, I got it for $5. While it's not the worst movie I've ever seen, that doesn't make for a glowing recommendation. Due to Ultraviolet, it's in my Cloud, but I intend to sell the hardcopy to get some of my $$ back.

I like horror movies. But this one just was not that good. A friend thought I would like it. So at the store they had a sale on the movie. It was really cheap so I bought and watched the movie. I can't get that time back.

The movie, although is not one that starts well and ends well, but I can see the efforts made by the directors. And it does remind me of the gamers-loved FPS game Call of Duty 4. I just wish there could be more horror movies devoting to such topics.

It was a great concept as the circumstances of Chernobyl lead to great horror. Unfortunately, the ending and alternate ending left me disappointed. I would still recommend people who enjoy horror to watch it as they may enjoy it more than I did.

This movie is Like the Blair Witch, but not really in first person POV... But still has the shaky found footage feel. Not much special features

Being a fan of all sci-fi movies, this movie was a good fit in my collection. I felt it was just a different application of The Hills have eyes story line. Though the overall plot was kind of flat for me, I still enjoyed it.
