Wave your hand over the screen whenever you see the Air Gesture indicator in the status bar to activate these features:

Quick Glance: Get a peek at time, battery status, missed calls and more when the screen is inactive.
Air Scroll: Scroll to the top or bottom of a list.
Air Browse: Move to the previous or next item of content.
Air Move: Move an item to another page on the home screen or menu.
Air Call-Accept: Accept an incoming call with a hand gesture.

Camera Modes

The easy-to-use interface in the camera includes automatic modes that help you take the perfect picture every time. Choose from Auto, Beauty Face, Best Photo, Drama, Best Face, Eraser, Panorama, Rich Tone HDR, Night, Sound and Shot, Animated Photo or Sports. In Carousel display mode, you can see descriptions of each mode so you can choose the right one.

Group Play

You don't even need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, because Group Play lets you create your own hot spot for spur-of-the-moment meetups. Group Play lets many people view content at the same time and interact with the content. You can mark the content using the touchscreen on your device. Everyone sees the markup as you make it. You can share documents and photos, listen to music or play games using Group Play.

Home Screen Mode

Select the home screen mode that best fits your personality. Basic Mode displays the conventional layout for apps and widgets, while Easy Mode provides a simplified home screen experience for first-time smartphone owners.

To change to Easy Mode, touch Apps > Settings and touch the My Device tab.
Touch Home Screen Mode and select Easy Mode (Starter mode) > Apply.
The home screen is reconfigured with a simple layout.

Multi Window

Activate Multi Window by touching and holding the Back key. From the Multi Window Tray, drag an app icon onto the screen to open it. To open a second app, drag it over the open app and drop it in the right or left side of the split screen display. Resize the app windows by dragging the slider bar between them. Touch and hold the slider bar to see icons that let you switch the two screens or open one of the apps in full screen. While Multi Window is active, you can open the tray by touching the blue tab on the side of the screen.
Multi Window does not support all applications on the device.

SAFE

With the extended capabilities of SAFE devices, you can set your out-of-office message right from your device to let your colleagues know you are on vacation. Samsung KNOX is a comprehensive enterprise mobile solution for work and play. KNOX addresses the mobile security needs of the enterprise, without invading the privacy of its employees. KNOX expands Samsung SAFE's mobile device management capabilities with new Enterprise APIs in the software development kit (SDK), more IT policies, improved VPN capabilities and support for new KNOX features.

Setting up WatchON is easy — you just need your ZIP code, the name of your television service provider and the brand of your television set to start controlling your TV from your phone. Touch Apps > WatchON to get started.

Smart Gestures

In addition to the Air View and Air Gesture capabilities, you can also control the Galaxy S 4 through physical motions. For instance, lift the phone to your ear to dial the contact currently displayed on the screen, or cover the display with your hand to mute or pause any sound that's playing. Enable Smart Gestures in Settings > Motions and Gestures.

S Translator

Quickly translate typed or spoken phrases into nine languages and hear the translations aloud. View a list of common phrases by category, such as greetings, business, emergencies and transportation. Touch Apps > Translator.

Samsung Hub

Samsung Hub combines previous Samsung storefronts — such as Media Hub, Music Hub, Games Hub, and Readers Hub — into a single store with a single sign-on through your Samsung account.

1. Touch Apps > Samsung Hub.
2. Touch Music, Video, Books or Games to browse available titles or swipe right and left to view the main page for each type of content.
3. Touch the Search icon to search for specific titles.
4. When you see something you want to download, touch Buy (for paid items) or Download (for free items).
5. Select Register Credit Card.
6. Enter credit card credentials and touch Register.
7. The credit card appears as a payment method. Touch the name of the credit card and then touch Pay.
8. Touch Download.
9. You can also pay with a gift card. At the payment page, select Gift Cards and Coupons and follow the prompts.

Capturing Action Shots:
The camera on the Galaxy S® III makes it easy to capture action shots with burst camera shot mode. Burst Mode allows you to take 20 pictures rapidly, so you'll never miss that perfect jump or amazing goal.

Using Share Shot:
Share Shot camera mode uses Wi-Fi Direct multi-connect, which means you can share photos with multiple users simultaneously. Share Shot can connect with any other device that is Share Shot-capable.

Wi-Fi Direct Battery Saving:
To conserve battery usage, Wi-Fi Direct prompts you to disconnect after several minutes of inactivity. You can choose to disconnect or cancel the prompt to remain connected.

Wi-Fi Direct Battery Saving:
An LED indicator can alert you to a missed call or message or incoming notifications, meaning you don't have to constantly check your phone for new messages. The LED will also light when the device is charging. To enable these functions, touch Settings > LED Indicator.

Share Content:
Samsung Link is perfect for sharing any user-generated content, like your vacation videos, the latest song from your garage band and photos from your family reunion wirelessly on your Samsung Smart TV. You can also remotely access files from your Samsung Link-enabled home PC, or share interactive presentations and photos instantly across multiple Galaxy S® III devices.
DRM content is not supported by Samsung Link.

Share Content:
Group Play lets you share a presentation or photos with nearby Group Play users on the same Wi-Fi network. Write on a presentation in real time or advance to the next photo — everyone can see what you're doing on their screen. Scribbles and comments aren't saved on the presentation, but you can take a screenshot at any time.

"Pairing" With S Beam:
When you touch the Galaxy S® III back-to-back with another S Beam-enabled device for the first time, it takes about 10 seconds for the phones to make the initial connection. NFC must be enabled on both devices before making the connection. For your security, the connection times out after 10 minutes.

Smart Gestures

Making a Direct Call from a Message:
Reading a message from a friend, but want to respond with a call? When the Direct Call gesture is enabled, you can just lift the phone to your ear while in the message screen.

Muting an Incoming Call:
If the Turn Over to Mute gesture is enabled, you can turn the phone over to mute the ringer of an incoming call, alarm or alert tone.

Taking a Screenshot:
To take a screenshot, place the edge of your palm against one side of the screen and swipe your hand across the screen to the other side.

Instantly Pausing a Video or Song:
While a video or song is playing, cover the screen with your palm to pause the media.

Enabling the Motion Gestures:
Since you can enable each motion gesture individually, you can customize the Galaxy S® III to use only the gestures you want. To enable hand gestures and learn how to use them, go to Settings > Motion. Check the Motion Activation box to show the available motion gestures. Touch the name of any gesture to view a tutorial.

The Smart Stay feature will use the camera to sense when you are looking at your device and keep the screen from turning off, regardless of the screen timeout setting.

Pop Up Play:
Pop Up Play makes multitasking a breeze. Watch your movie or video while checking email or surfing the Internet with the draggable picture-in-picture window that works on any screen, even on top of third-party apps. Pop Up Play works only with content that plays in the native video player.
Netflix and YouTube are not compatible with Pop Up Play.

Enabling Pop Up Play:
To enable Pop Up Play, simply tap the icon on the bottom right corner of the screen anytime video is playing in the native video player.

The Assistive Light widget turns your camera flash into a flashlight on demand. Add the widget to your home screen by touching Apps > Widgets Tab > Assistive Light.

S Pen™ Integration:
The Galaxy Note® II lets you personalize your mobile world with the S Pen. You can write handwritten messages in emails or decorate special occasions on your calendars. Handwritten items are only viewable on your mobile calendar and are not synced with Outlook or online calendars.

S Note on Lock Screen:
Hold the S Pen button while double-tapping the screen to activate S Note. This gesture can also be used on the Lock Screen to activate S Note. You can also use your S Pen to draw a line down to the Home key to unlock your screen instead of swiping your screen with your finger.

Contextual Home Screens:
Much like the S Pen contextual home screen, there are additional contextual home screens displayed when you plug in the earphones and when you dock the phone.

One-Handed Use:
You can enable one-handed use for the Samsung keyboard, calculator, phone dialer and unlock pattern. When you turn on the one-handed option, the enabled apps shrink and move toward one side of the screen so you can easily touch the keys with your thumb. Touch Personal > Settings > One-handed Operation. Place a check mark in the box next to the desired options.

Smart Gestures

Enabling Smart Stay:
You can get key info like the number of missed phone calls and messages, number of emails received, remaining battery percentage, and more, simply by waving your hand over the top of a sleeping device. To enable or disable this feature, go to Settings > Motion and check or uncheck the box next to Quick Glance.

Smart Stay keeps the screen on as long as you're looking at it. To enable the Smart Stay feature, touch Settings > Display. Place a check mark in the box next to Smart Stay.

Double-tap the top of the phone to instantly open the Notifications Panel.

When a contact's phone number is shown on-screen, Direct Call lets you lift the phone to your ear to automatically dial. When reading a text message, you can call back the sender simply by lifting the phone to your ear.

S Beam:
Use S Beam to share links to maps, web pages, apps and YouTube videos with any Android device that is NFC-enabled. You can also exchange contacts and calendar events. S Beam allows for the transfer of files up to 1GB in size with any S Beam-capable device. To get started, touch Settings > Share and transfer > More Settings. Move sliders next to NFC and S Beam from Off to On (gray to green) to enable the feature.

Sharing an S Note with S Beam:
In addition to photos, videos and documents, you can share an S Note via S Beam with other S Beam and S Note-capable devices.

Sharing an S Note with Social Networks:
Collaborate with ease by posting native S Note files, with layers, to your social networks like Facebook and Google+ for other Galaxy Note® II users to download and edit.

Contextual Home Screen:
Contextual awareness means quick access. When the S Pen is removed from its integrated slot, a menu of S Pen-related apps will automatically pop up for selection. The Contextual S Pen home screen and menu are customizable, so you can select which S Pen applications you want handy. Available apps range from productivity to graphics and include the preloaded S Note. Various third-party apps which use S Pen are also available.

S Voice:

Dual Screen View:
Take multitasking to the next level by having two applications open next to one another on the same screen. For example, you can capture images from the Internet browser and drag it to the S Note you're creating in the next window, or watch a video while writing about it in a Word document.

Multi Window Tray:
To keep apps handy, the Galaxy Note® 8.0 features a Multi Window Tray. Launch the Multi Window Tray by touching and holding the Back key. The tray will appear on the side of the screen. An icon (>) will alert you that Multi Window Tray is activated. If it is blocking content, you can change the location of the icon by touching and holding the icon, and sliding it to the desired location. You can also change the position of the Multi Window Tray by holding down the (<) icon and moving it to the desired location on the sides of the screen. To customize the tray by adding or deleting apps, touch Edit when the tray is launched. You can then drag apps into or out of the tray as desired.

Dual View:
To use Dual View and view two apps at once, select the first app that you would like to use. It will open in full screen. To view the second app in Dual View, select the app from the Multi Window Tray and drag it to the screen. To turn off the Multi Window feature, navigate to Settings and deselect Multi Window.

Open a browser window without ever leaving an application. The Pop up Browser allows you to select a web link in an email or message and a browser window opens on top of your screen. Move the window anywhere on the screen so you can keep working within your original app, or expand it to full screen.
Pop up Browser works only with the Internet browser on your device, not Google Chrome or other browser options.

Pop up Video:
When scrolling through your Facebook or Twitter feeds, sometimes you'll want to watch a video someone has posted. Pop up Video is perfect for these times, because you don't have to exit your current app to watch the video. You can continue to browse your feeds while the video plays in a separate window.

Using Air View in a Browser:
To enjoy the robust features of Air View, you will need to use Samsung's Internet browser. The Google Chrome browser application is also available on the Galaxy Note 8.0, although it does not support Air View.
The Google Chrome browser also does not support Dual View or Cascade View or other S Pen functions.

S Pen Screen:
When S Pen is removed from its integrated slot, a menu of S Pen-related apps will automatically pop up for selection. The Contextual S Pen Screen is customizable, so you can select which S Pen applications you want handy. Available apps range from productivity to graphics and include the preloaded S Note. Pinning:
Enjoy additional multitasking with the Multi Window Pin feature. It allows you to pin an app to your screen that will stay on top of other open apps or windows. Simply open an app in your Multi Window Tray and switch to Dual Screen mode. Then select the pushpin icon in the top left corner of the app's window, which will turn green to indicate you've pinned the app window. Move the pinned app and open additional apps and select Dual View to enjoy enhanced multitasking. You can also use Cascade View to further enhance your multitasking experience.

Take multitasking to the next level by having two applications open next to one another on the same screen. For example, you can capture images from the Internet browser and drag it to the S Note you're creating in the next window, or watch a video while writing about it in a Word document.

Making a Video to Share:
The Limit for Email feature helps you record a video that's the right size for sending in an email. While in the camcorder, touch Recording Mode on the toolbar and choose Limit for Email.

Viewing Recently-Used Apps:
To quickly view recently-used apps, touch the icon in the lower left corner of the home screen. This function displays thumbnails of recently-opened apps. To navigate to one of these apps, touch its thumbnail. To remove an app from the list, swipe the thumbnail to the right or left.

Taking a Screenshot:
Take a screenshot without having to remember complex key combinations by touching the Screenshot icon in the System Bar. Screenshots are available for viewing in the Gallery.

Set Data Limits:
Worried about exceeding your data limit for the month? The Data Usage Panel lets you set both a data usage warning that alerts you when you're approaching a limit and a data limit that automatically disables data use when you've reached the pre-set limit. To set and adjust these options, go to Settings > More Settings > Data Usage.

Changing Keyboard Styles
The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 allows you to select between two different keyboards with a touch shortcut. Touch the Keyboard Settings icon (at the bottom of the screen, to the left of the Time Display) and choose between Samsung Keyboard and Google Voice Typing. While in the Samsung keyboard, pinch two fingers together to choose between three keyboard styles: QWERTY, Floating and Split.

To delete a widget from the home screen, touch and hold the widget and drag it to the top right corner. Drop it over the Trash icon.

Google Play Store:
The Galaxy Camera includes full access to the Google Play Store, so you can easily download your favorite free and paid apps directly to the camera.

Paper Artist:
The Paper Artist app comes preloaded on the Galaxy Camera, allowing you to add filters to any photo that you've imported or shot. Just select a filter and use your finger on the touchscreen to alter the image and turn it into a unique creation. New images can then be saved or shared with social networks directly from the app.

Blocking Mode

Blocking Mode (AT&T):
Don't let buzzing notifications, alarm bells or timers disturb your video recordings. By enabling Blocking Mode, you can avoid those distractions. Touch Menu > Settings > Blocking Mode. Move the slider from Off to On (gray to green). You can specify which features will be blocked by touching Blocking Mode.

Physical Connectors:
On the top right side of the camera, viewed from the back, there's a headphone port for listening to media and editing video. Below that is a protected USB port, as well as a loop for a camera cord. On the bottom, there's also a universal tripod screw mount for long exposures, group photos or anytime you need a steadier shot. There's also a hinged door on the bottom, protecting the micro SIM slot, HDMI port, microSD slot, and battery slot.

Filters

The Galaxy Camera offers an assortment of filters, so you can customize your photos before you ever even shoot them. Tint them in sepia, make them look like an old photograph or a comic, add pastel sketch marks and more. To access filter options, touch the up arrow (%5E) at the bottom of the viewfinder screen. Swipe right or left to scroll through options and touch the desired filter to select it. Please note that these filters only appear in Auto or Expert modes.

Need to know when you can share? When there are Samsung Link-compatible devices on your Wi-Fi network, a contextual icon will appear on your screen in Gallery, Video Player or Music Player.

Smart Content Manager

Gallery Views:
The Smart Content Manager auto-sorts your photos into albums by person, location, date and more, but within those albums, you can also change your view between three dynamic options. In the top right corner of the Gallery view, choose between basic folder view, 3D flipbook view or 3D spiral view. Within the 3D options, you can swipe the touchscreen to browse and move through your photo album.

Snapping a good photo doesn't have to be a challenge, thanks to the 15 shooting modes found in Smart Mode on the Galaxy Camera:

Best Photo:
This camera mode takes eight shots of the subject and highlights the best one, allowing you to select your favorite.
Best Face:
The camera captures multiple images of a shot and allows you to select and change facial expressions instantly.
Macro:
Use this mode for close-up pictures.
Panorama:
Pan across a scenic vista to capture a wider-than-normal image.
Beauty Face:
Use this mode to take softly focused portraits.
Light Trace:
Take pictures of light trails using a long exposure at night (tripod recommended).
Night:
Capture and combine several photos for a night shot without a flash.
Fireworks:
This mode captures fireworks at night (tripod recommended).
Sunset:
Take sunset pictures with more vivid, intense colors.
Landscape:
Enhances landscapes with more intense greens and blues.
Continuous Shot:
Take up to 20 pictures at a rate of four per second.
Silhouette:
Take pictures of silhouettes with backlighting.
Waterfall:
A long exposure that captures waterfalls and flowing water (tripod recommended).
Rich Tone:
Merge pictures in various exposures to create soft, rich color.
Action Freeze:
Captures fast moving subjects.

Enabling Smart Network (AT&T):
To conserve battery life, turn on the Smart Network feature. Smart Network disables mobile data and Wi-Fi when the device's screen is off, so less battery is consumed during downtime. To enable this feature, touch Settings > More Settings, then touch the box next to Smart Network.

Slow Motion:
You don't have to wait until editing to slow things down. The Galaxy Camera allows you to record in slow motion. To enable this feature, while in Video recording mode, expand the Camera Settings toolbar and touch the Movie Size icon. Select Slow Motion.

Voice Commands

Once enabled, using voice commands with the Galaxy Camera is intuitive and easy. Available voice commands for the camera are:

Take pictures: Say "smile," "cheese," "capture," and "shoot."
Record video: Say "record video."
Take picture after 10 seconds: Say "timer."
Change to Auto Mode: Say "auto settings."
Change to Beauty Face Mode: Say "beauty face."
Control zoom: Say "zoom in" and "zoom out."
Control flash: Say "flash on" and "flash off."
Go to Gallery: Say "gallery."
