One of the best multiplayer games
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've had this game for a while now and it's been the best multiplayer game on the market today. The Source engine's grahpics are a bit dated but the recent HDR patch fixes all of that and replaces the older graphics with high quality textures and models. The amount of custom everything for this game is insane, there's everything from custom maps and levels to weapons, textures, and sounds. Virtually everything about this game is customizable. When you buy it, it even comes with the Development Kit if you want to make your own maps or textures/models. Most dedicated servers have a low ping yet many have custom content that you will need to download if you don't already have it. If you're on a slower connection this may be a bit of a downside to you, but don't fret, you can play offline with bots on the maps if you want to.

Great Games!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendCounter-Strike: Source is a great game, with great on-line play. You'll find it's slow to load (online), but once you're connected it runs great! The online play is fast, with alot of variety. You will not be bored with this game. Game play is very realistic, but you'll find that the knife is not very effective. There is an almost unlimited variety to the weapons you can use, from handguns to SMGs to shotguns to assault rifles, etc. There's something in this box for everyone - Included in the box are Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and Day of Defeat: Source - both are great games in their own right. Day of Defeat was impressive, but has only one game type: team play. This is a great buy for anyone that's a fan of FPS games.

Great Game, but beware of other gamers!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendCounter Strike: Source is the stunning remake of the classic Counter Strike online game. Its easy-to-understand interface and gameplay makes the game ideal for starters and pros at computer gaming alike. Partnered with the Steam gaming platform (free and required with install), it gives you a great way to spend time with your friends kicking the baddies (or goodies, if you want to go terrorist) respective behinds. However, this game has it's downfall. When you get killed, you're out for the entire round (they're only about 3-5 minutes each). That's not the bad part. When you leave a majority of people on the internet the ability to sit around and only talk to other players, the stuff you get is obscene at best. Don't forget to throw in racism, disgusting jokes jokes, and the worst language you've ever seen. And mudkips. Don't get me started on the mudkips. Anyway, I'd recommend this game for any teen or older, but please, if you are a parent who cares at all about the innocence of your child, do NOT let younger kids play this game unless you have in-game communications turned OFF. However, if you like fast-paced FPS gameplay, then by all means get this game!

A great FPS for new and experienced gamers alike
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendCounter-Strike: Source is an exceptional multiplayer update from CS 1.6. The graphics, game play, physics, and controls have all been slightly modified for the better. Anyone playing this game for the first time can easily catch on to the principal, and become immersed within a few minutes. Veteran gamers will enjoy the sheer range of new achievements possible and trying to earn the highest levels within a certain map. Now that Counter-Strike has been integrated with Steam, you can quickly find servers friends are playing on and join them with no hassle. Overall, Counter-Strike: Source is a highly playable game for almost anyone to pick up and play.

best online FPS for PC!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendCounter Strike Source (CSS) is just amazing. I got this game for my birthday and I couldn't stop playing. It is sick!! It is by far the best FPS (first-person-shooter) for PC. Not only are the graphics really good, but it is just fun! There are countless maps to polay on and another benefit is that if your not that good of a player, you could just play against the game instead of other people. The game has certain servers that are "bot servers" where it is just you and the game going head to head. But then once you get better, you will definatly want to play against other people. I just can't emphasize how amazingly fun it is to play people half way around the world on your server. It's a great way to get better at gaming. I have for sure improved since I started playing. Lucky for me i was just inducted into a clan on the game after four months of playing so. Basically what I'm saying is that the game must be good if I have been playing it for months and am still not tired of it. It is definatly worth the money $$.

An Old Friend
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendFew games manage to draw me in and keep me hooked the way Counter-Strike has. From its early days, even before voice chat was added, I have always enjoyed spending hour upon hour of time logged in and teaming up against people online. Counter-Strike has always put an emphasis on teamwork- 'teams' of individuals just don't survive. This has lended the game that extra level that puts it above the simple run-and-gun formula used by so many games. When the update to CS was announced following the debut of the Source engine, I eagerly anticipated its release. I was not let down. The familiar gameplay has been completely overhauled in terms of realism and its all for the better! Flashbang (stun) grenades now affect all senses. Muzzle flair lights up dark environments giving away positions of friend and foe alike. It all adds to the already deep experience and further drags me in to a game I know I will continue to enjoy for years to come!

A Classic
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendCame back to this game recently. Still as much of a blast as it was years ago. Graphics are a bit dated, but not bad for a game as old as it is. Some of the best FPS action you can have. Only gripe is that a lot of people have been playing this game a LONG time, and that makes getting back into it a bit rough. Still a classic FPS that I'd recommend to any gamer.

The third game in the counter-strike series.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOk, first there was Counter Strike 1.6(the original), then there was Counter Strike: Condition Zero & its Deleted Scenes, now, the all new Counter Strike: Source. Now it has moved from the HL1 GoldSRC engine to the new and improved HL2 Source engine. That means Ragdoll physics, when a grenade blows up next to you, your body will fly, not use the same animated death. Also improved graphics! Other then that, not much changes. Honestly i prefer the classic 1.6, BUT this game definetly owns up to the original, maybe even goes a bit higher due to the updated engine, physics, and graphics. Now lets talk about the other games this comes with. Day of Defeat: Source, the second in its series (the original was just Day of Defeat). And like counterstrike 1.6, Day of Defeat(the original) used to GoldSRC hl1 engine, but now they have updated it to the hl2 Source engine, that means, just like CounterStrike: Source, ragdoll physics, updated graphics, and a better engine. And now onto, Half Life 2: Deathmatch. Imagine this, Quake III Arena, with better graphics, half life 2 weapons, ragdoll physics, and the source engine. Thats what you have here. Your basic deathmatch game, with hl2 styled maps (some even taken from hl2 itself!) and weapons. Overall these 3 games are sure to entertain you for quite sometime, and they are also updated almost everyday by the Steam program, and will continue to be updated for a VERY long time.
