    Synopsis

    Crazy Heart
A worn-down country singer and a burgeoning journalist form an unusual bond in this drama adapted from the novel by Thomas Cobb. His spirit broken by multiple failed marriages, too much time on the road, and too many nights with the bottle, Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) had started to feel like he was headed down the path of no return. When probing young writer Jean (Maggie Gyllenhaal) digs deep enough to unearth the broken man behind the legend, however, Bad realizes that redemption may not be such a long shot after all. Robert Duvall and Colin Farrell co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Great movie but...a Best Actor Oscar?

To exclude any thought of bias on my part, I dislike both country music and pro-wrestling. Don't get me wrong, I love Jeff Bridges; he made this movie very believable, touching and sad. But "The Wrestler" is pretty much they same type of story and Mickey Rourke's performance was heart wrenching, hard to watch at times, and made me tear up. While "Crazy Heart" played with my heart strings, "The Wrestler" nearly pulled them out. "Crazy Heart" was a good movie, but I think the Oscar went to the wrong actor. Of course, "Milk" was an incredible movie, so...

Jeff Bridges outdoes himself again in this story of a down on his luck country singer with alcohol dependence problems mixed with his old age and girlfriend problems that all work themselves out in Jeff Bridges' inimitable way. If you enjoyed reading this carefully constructed one sentence review you will surely also enjoy this excellent dvd at the usual Best Buy reasonably priced offering. Have as much fun as I did.

I love this movie. Jeff Bridges is phenomenal and Maggie Gyllenhall is always a treat to watch. The story is touching and mellow but with great undertones. The music is also a terrific addition to the movie. All original songs performed by the actors. I hate country music but love these songs and performances. If you like emotional dramas with a great atmosphere then this movie is for you. Also any fan of country music would love this.

Jeff Bridges is perfect as a washed-up country artist who doesn't really know he's washed-up. He meets up with Maggie Gyllenhall and his life changes, mostly for the better. A very accurate look at life on the road for old musicians who don't know anything but traveling the road. The acting is superb, certainly by Jeff Bridges and well worth the Academy nod he received. You can't miss with "Crazy Heart". It's a repeater!

Long gray hair, long shaggy gray beard....Jeff Bridges portrays a hard drinkin', past his prime, country singer. As usual, he is so believable in this roll it is hard to remember he is a great actor and not actually the guitar playing, down on his luck, country singing, character he is portraying in this absorbing role.

This movie really makes you think and prompts you to ask some tough questions about decisions you’ve made in the past, choices you can make in the future and second chances. We can never know if or when we might be given a second chance. Crazy Heart encourages us to be prepared and ready for it when the time comes

The main performances are great. At first you think its the same old pedestrian past his prime performer movie, but both the depth and, in my mind, multi facets that Jeff Bridges brings to it draws you in and keeps you part of his story. He is as real as it gets. The music pieces are done very well, courtesy I trust of T Bone's influence (along with others). .

This movie is great for anyone that appreciates music. Jeff Bridges could easily pass for a real life country outlaw. The music is superb, and one of the most honest representations of the struggle of being a musician that lives his life through his songs on the road....5 stars facebook.com/adamglovermusic
