    Synopsis

    Creepshow 2
This less-satisfying sequel to the 1982 George A. Romero/Stephen King anthology presents a new trio of King stories, framed in a similar EC Comics-style format -- this time featuring some rather lackluster animated segments involving horror-host "The Creep," who introduces each chapter with pun-heavy gallows humor. The stories vary widely in quality: first there's "Old Chief Wood'nhead," involving a cigar-store Indian who quite literally guards the entrance to an old general store and comes to life to avenge the murders of the elderly couple (George Kennedy and Dorothy Lamour) who owned it. The middle segment, "The Raft," features a group of obnoxious teenagers stranded on a raft in the middle of a lake at the mercy of a murderous oil slick which looks like a bunch of plastic garbage bags stitched together. Both of these suffer in comparison to the closing segment, "The Hitchhiker," in which a bored, promiscuous socialite (Lois Chiles) mows down a hitchhiker, who refuses to stay dead, returning again and again to torment her at every turn, rasping "Thanks for the ride, lady!" Despite its strengths -- a livelier pace, some creatively gory set pieces -- this is a much cheaper-looking effort than its predecessor, with the deft guidance of Romero conspicuously absent (long-time collaborator Michael Gornick took up the directorial reins); as a result, King's gross-out sensibilities don't come off as well. Makeup maestro Tom Savini appears in heavy makeup as a live-action version of The Creep, and King pops in for a bit part as a redneck trucker. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

The original Creepshow had five stories attached to it while this one has three. One dealing with an Indian statue that comes to life, one dealing with a lake monster (which is nothing more than trash bags glued together with additional special effects), and one dealing with a undead hitchhiker. The first two stories I liked. The lake monster one sounds really corny but they do a great job with the special effects and the deaths of individuals. I didn't know it was a bunch of trash bags until watching a documentary on it. The hitchhiker is the weakest one. I usually turn the movie off or if I'm feeling ready for some torture sit through it.. A woman hits a guy with her car and he keeps coming back and tormenting her as a undead zombie. The catch phrase being "Thanks for the ride, lady!" It's more watchable than Creepshow 3 at least. Creepshow 3 will make you want to get a lobotomy.

I loved this film when i was a kid and was let down when the first bluray release of creepshow 2 came out with no special features. Now arrow has released a special edition with bonus features and a new transfer. I was let down that i missed out on the special edition that came with a comic but am still glad i picked this up.

This is not a showcase type of blu-ray, it doesn't have reference quality picture or sound, and there aren't any special features to speak of. But if you like the movie (which is probably the worst of the three between Creepshow 1 & 2 and Tales from the Darkside), then this is still worth buying, especially at the low price I paid ($6).

The first two Creepshow films are some of the best horror anthologies of all time. Romero and King together are phenomenal. The great thing about this on Blu versus DVD is that everything is clear. All three stories are great and it's nice seeing them all cleaned up.

My goodness, Arrow films just keep putting out amazing releases. The packaging on this one is truly beautiful with a vibrant red background and glossy lettering. It even comes with a full color comic book of a "lost" Creepshow tale. I couldn't recommend this enough!

First off the price Best Buy has this for is great! $22.99 is a steal! This release is amazing and long overdue. The picture is crisp and the special features are well worth the price alone. From the ENB features to the Romero segment this disc is AMAZING

Arrow continues to deliver quality transfers on classic movie titles. This is evident in Creepshow 2. The lake scene looks brilliant and the Crypt Keeper almost jumps out at you! Thank you Best Buy for carrying amazing movies like this!
